Chapter 27 - In the end, What actually happened?

The last stretch of the quest period. On one side a elite PK player with agile mind and good leadership skills. If one of the 'MINDERS' of university had interacted a bit with this person, he would have said immediately, "Nth generation brat. Quite intelligent. No drive. No one to. push him forward. A bit lazy."

This elite PK player had spent over tens of millions in cash within compulsory quest period. He did not step up when others were ruling and throwing their power around. He was happy to be a king maker. Yes, when the previous leaders had fought and competed, it was just to get more favour from this lord. But he had brains, he could hold the fort. Proof- the survival of PK players till near the end of quest period.

So, on one hand we had this giant of sorts. On other side, a newly formed party. A surly hunter, a silent healer, a chatty tank who actually was tag-along for the healer and Saachi. A productive team, good team work. Bree also was a mind games specialist. Saachi and Royo, who gave wacky ideas. Kylie, who was ready to prove impossible as a possibility.

The last confrontation.

Royo: " Bree! This one is goner. I don't think he will come back. He was weaker than level one." He said it just after killing the follower.

Bree: " How long till next update?"

Royo : .....

Saachi quietly pulled battle log to check.

Kylie : "6 min."

Bree : " We will rest till next update."

A lonesome red dot in the map near Kobo python's lair.

Bree drew a circle around that spot. "Based on rate

of his movements, he will be in this area within 5 minutes." Another circle drawn. " And within these areas in 10 minutes. Again, we will try multi layer approach. His level is low and attribute are becoming less. There are only few 'safe' areas in this region." She marked few more spots.

"In 1st few rounds, frighten the deer to push in the direction we want. In final round, one hit KO. "

The words she used were like....eSports player. The elite, elite among elite who fight to show the extent skills can be used.

Saachi tried to think of other VR games where such tournaments took place. He tried to think of future....was there any such figures there? Did they become famous in future? Royo nudged him and got him out of reverie. Apparently the briefing was over.

The party was harrassing the lone player. If he died, well and good. If not, make him vomit blood due to anger.

This hit and run, chase and miss, kept happening. The PK player would not let Royo come near. He would move around and go out of sight , to make Kylie fail in his archery many times. He really wanted to kill the healer but she always had a guard, a tag along. The mage...hah, less said the better. The mage was all around, looking like a fool.

It was at this time, a blunder was made but no one realised it, not even Bree. It should be said that the opposite side player had guts and long range plans with multiple ends. Bree suddenly cried, " No! Don't let him go towards the revival point." She was late by few seconds though. The PK player had rushed in to the temporary PK player shelter.

Life is just like that - few seconds worth action might as well end a huge saga. Others apparently were in blind. They did not realise why Bree was panicking. Suddenly Kylie also go serious. Aha, so he understood the situation.

"What's the matter? We have already destroyed this base once. Why should we worry?" Saachi asked. His battle awareness was still.... developing in this lifetime.

Kylie in rare mood actually answered first. " He had poured so much money within few hours. If he pours more and wins, he will become a legend. So he would have paid in millions to fortify that place. It won't be easy to reach him within the time given to us."

Saachi shrugged. " We can try! No one said we will have to win each time. We will try and try our best to win. After that, whatever happens, atleast I won't have that feeling of 'should have tried'."

Another mad dash into temporary revival point, this is version 2.0, super duper fortified to extreme. Kylie's arrows could only spring the traps early but the traps were too much. Royo and Niyam took turns to trigger trap and run.

When these four were feeling despair as all of them got cut off in different directions, the villain appeared. He wanted to destroy them before end of the quest. His first Target - not the healer. She had many tricks on her. Not the hunter. His quiver had few odd looking arrows. The tank..not now. So the mage. All he had to do was get closer to him before he realised it. Mages are squishy things at close range. As a tank, he despised mages more than anyone else.

Saachi broke his wand when he used it as a projectile. The villian grinned, a mage with out a wand, is candle without a wick- completely useless. He was shocked when he saw the mage taking out a level 1 staff. He laughed out loud this time. " Boy, do you think I will let you have free time to use skills?"

This was the major disadvantage of being a mage- one had to be still while casting spell. As one learnt more magic, this disadvantage would go away as the basic spells would be near instantaneous, but Saachi was still in level 4.

Saachi proved thinking outside the box can save one's neck again. He used that level 1 common, trashy, newbie staff as a club and walked the tank.

By the time, tank snapped back from this off the script behaviour, he was struck with broken staff piece. Saachi had used broken staff as a knife.

Finishing touch - a basic small fireball in the face by using spare wand.

Game over. Quest end.
