Chapter 28 - level 5

Bree had calculated it rightly. After this death, the tank did not revive. The much anticipated system notification came, this time - the rewards and all were not written in scroll. Even the gaming system did not want to leave any proof behind of this near black mark on its pristine self. The battle logs were getting erased slowly.

But it was generous when it came to rewards. As this party of 4 had done most of the work, they got more EXP along with reputation points.

It should be said, the gaming company was wacky enough to have an entire supercomputer to calculate EXP and more of the players. Because, even before it's launch, they were sure( or hoping?) that the players playing at any point of time would be more than a billion. So the EXP were calculated with different sets of complex logic. Wondering why calculations are needed? Solo players got all EXP, no need to worry about them. Problem always arise when a party or group plays. A 50 member party kills a wild boss, how is EXP calculated? Few would have died once or twice. The healers would have played a big role but they would not fight boss face to face. The tanks and DPS ...how to know which skill was more important? If the tank had not pulled the aggro, could the mage used such high level spell? Without such high damage from mages and others, could just tanks and healers able to deal with it?

So a multi- layer, complex logic was applied whenever more than 1 person worked together.

So, Bree got points for being healer and mastermind too. Originally she was supposed to be MVP, but Saachi stole her thunder. The last kill got more weightage, so Saachi became MVP, thus more bonuses.

Ding!

Bonus multiplier applied.

100 X bonus on reputation points.

Now he had more reputation points than village chief.

The EXP was generous enough to jump him to level 5.

Ding! Bonus multiplier applied.

666 X bonus on coins.

Another reminder notification - would you like to join the list of level 5 holders? The answer- NO!!!

He was a simple man with no backing. If a giant comes to handle him, what should he do? Anyways he was just lifestyle player. In few days, the monster hunters would surpass him. Any level advantage he had would vanish then.

The level bar was still in lower limits even after getting so many EXP. It would take long, long time to reach level 6.

With death of red player and his reset, the revival point lost its value and it slowly turned into dust and disappeared, after it deposited remaining places outside, in the wild.

Niyam : " Wow! All of us turned to level 5. But why was there no opening of rank list?"

Royo grunted. Was he not happy with the rewards? Kylie : "...."

Bree : " Why didn't you?"

Niyam : " Ah? I'm an alchemist. Why would I paste my name in the list meant for monster hunters?"

Bree : " Same here. Let's log off. I need break."

She directly left the party and rushed towards village.

Niyam : " What about our loots from hunt and mining?"

He did not understand the hand symbol she made. Royo did.

Royo : " Come on. We'll help you in transport but you are in charge of holding it. When she is back, she will calculate each one's portion. Now....(insert evil grin) how are you going store all these things?

The difficult portion was not difficult for Saachi with high RPN ( reputation points for NPCs) at all. He requested a room to store his things for sometime. Village thief...no, no,no village chief ...his brain was really running in wrong directions. The village chief showed him empty warehouse. And there was not even a peep about rent and other troublesome things.

Even inside the game, powerful ones were revered, rich were praised and poor, downtrodden ones were neglected. That's the reason why these NPCs had turned blind eyes to killing of players within village limits. Out of sight, out of mind. ' We did not see any rule breakers, so we will not do anything. If we had seen them, they would have been jailed or killed directly.'

Bree advice was sound. Saachi logged off and had some food before falling asleep on the bed. His body and brain, both were suffering. This type of intense work would have started late in game, by that time, most players would have acclamatised themselves to game, thus not feeling much strain.

----*----

A million or so villages. No one noticed the compulsory quest or its conclusion. The ship jumpers...well, they got reset somewhere else. The bonus for suffering through such traumatic events...it was calculated by AI. The support staff just monitored till they were reset properly and sent to different villages.

The veteran who was feeling bored and slightly disgusted at behaviour of youngsters these days had perpetual angry look in the beginning of the quest. He stayed behind even after working hours, following the antics of these four. When they won, he felt like he had won. He went home with smile on his face. This generation...not all were bad.
