A Noble Daughter's Reprisal

"So why were you out here to begin with?"

It was strange that they just happened to come across each other in the thick forest. For one, the forest was tremendously large. Also, Eva did not recall telling Leyla she would be out here today.

"Can't an elf go on a walk in the forest on her day off?"

Leyla laughed at Eva's question. She was so light hearted that Eva buried her suspicion immediately. Leyla was her friend so she shouldn't be suspicious of her.

"Are you heading back to the Capital then? It is getting quite late in the day now."

Eva looked around them and noticed the forest had gotten noticeably darker. She pushed the comfortable leopard off her lap and hurriedly packed up her things.If she didn't hurry the gates would close before she could get back.

"Want to race back to the gates again?"

"It is hardly fair to race me when you are clearly at an advantage."

"Well you will have to run either way."
