Cece went straight to her room after leaving the sitting room. She had a secret phone, used to communicate with Charles. She knew there were security cameras in her room, which were audio enabled.
She back the camera in a way it would not capture her picking up the phone from her wardrobe. All the rooms had a walk-in closet because of the CCTV in the room. Usually, no one monitors the room's camera to protect the privacy of the workers, but if anything happens unexpectedly, then the footage will be checked.
Cece headed straight into the bathroom, where she could call Charles since there were no cameras.
"Hello, is she dead," Charles's voice came from the other end as soon as he picked up her call.
"Not yet," she replied. We have a problem," she immediately informed Charles.
"What is it?" Charles asked. Cece immediately informed him about everything. She did not tell him about the fake package she delivered. Otherwise, Charles will blame her and abandon her to her fate
"Don't worry, Cece," Charles consoled her. "You find a way to speak to Josephine. She must keep her mouth shut. Once she gets to the prison, I will use my connection to break her out," Charles explains.
Cece breathes a sigh of relief. "Okay, when do I see you? she asked, smiling to herself. She has been Charles's mistress for the past ten years. When his wife died five years ago, he promised to marry her if she did him a little favour. Which she gladly accepts. Who would have thought a daughter was waiting to eat their well-prepared meal.
"Let's meet after we have taken care of Josephine," Charles said and ended the call without waiting for her reply.
Cece smiled to herself and put on the shower.
On the other side, Charles cursed his luck. How come she was this difficult to kill. She has escaped the fire incident twice, and now she survived the poison.
Maybe he will pay someone to kill her, he sighs.
After taking her bath, Cece tried to see Josephine with the alibi of bringing her dinner since she had not had any. But Abel did not let her in. He collected the food and took it to her.
She walked away without protecting. She only hoped Josephine would act smartly and keep her mouth shut. She did not want to raise any suspicion. She knew Sam was loyal to their late boss and would be devoted to his daughter as well.
.....
The next morning Iyare returned to the house after visiting the hospital to extract the poison. Which was strangely not found; the doctor ran several tests on her and later recommended vitamins for her to boost her immune.
She did not follow Shelley to carry out the test for the coffee; she wanted to know if Shelley would help manipulate the result, as she was sure the coffee was poison. She was not stupid or blind to be unable to read Josephine's body language, so she knew the girl was lying.
Sam happily walked up to her and welcomed her. He loved delivering results and felt particularly stupid yesterday when he could not give Iyare a valid explanation about the package she received. "I have an update about the package and the poison," he immediately informed her.
Iyare was tried. She had just two hours to seal the deal, or she would die. "Let's talk in a safe place," Iyare said. She could not tell how many eyes and ears Charles had in the house. She was particularly impressed with the fact that he took the initiative to investigate further about the package.
At that moment, Shelley drove in. She had dropped Iyare at a hotel yesterday and had no idea Iyare went to the hospital.
She dropped a lot of cash for her late-night before leaving to test the coffee since Iyare's black card was not yet ready.
She drove straight to the hotel to pick Iyare up as soon as she saw the results that morning, but she was informed that Iyare had already checked out. So she drove to the house, praying Iyare was fine.
Shelley did not park her car properly before getting down. The doctor told her that the poison would take a few hours before it took effect. She came along with a doctor.
"Ma, are you feeling alright? Did you drink the coffee? There is a doctor here to check you," Shelley said without pausing.
Iyare was shocked at Shelley's gesture; she could see the worry in her eyes. No one has ever worried about her after her grandmother's death.
"I am fine, Shelley; there is nothing to worry about," Iyare replied.
"I agree with Shelley; you should get checked; you don't look fine," Sam said, taking a good look at her. He noticed the dark circle around her eyes. Iyare had a warm feeling. She knew she was not supposed to trust easily, but how could she not trust these two people after seeing the sincerity in their eyes. They were apprehensive about her.
"I am fine, I went to the hospital yesterday after you left," Iyare Informed her. "What happened! are you okay?" Shelley asked. "I am fine," Iyare assures her.
"The doctor could not detect any poison, you don't have to worry," she informed them so that they would rest assured. When she returned to her hotel room late at night, she could not sleep. She thought about everything she had learned about herself in the last twelve hours.
"What about the test I asked you to get carried out?" Iyare changes the topic. "The result came out this morning," Shelley informed as she handed the result over to Iyare.
"I can't believe that bitch tried to kill you," Shelley said, very annoyed. She could kill Josephine if she were standing there.
Shelley knew she was no Saint, but she could not backstab anyone, not even her Boss. She hated backstabbers. Iyare ran her eyes through the result. It was close to what she suspected.
Her eyes turn red, and her fist tightens, As she looks at the result.
Sam, who was standing next to her, sneaked a look at the result. His heartbeat increased when he saw that the poison would not easily be discovered once it was active on the victim's body. The victim would seem to have suffered from a heart attack.
He was never convinced his boss's death was natural. His boss went to bed healthily but was found dead the following day. Heart attack, the doctor called it.
He wondered if he should share his thoughts with Iyare, but he decided against it after thinking about it for a few minutes. First, they needed to find out who was trying to kill Iyare. Then they could investigate her dead father later.
"I have something to show you," Sam reminds them. Let's get into my Office, Sam said. Shelley immediately bid her doctor friend goodbye and followed Sam and Iyare.
Last night Sam remembered that there was a secret camera in the bathrooms, which was alone audio enable. So he turned on Cece's bathroom audio recorder, and he heard her conversation on the phone.
He could not hear the person on the other side, but Cece's responses were enough to understand the conversation.
He played it for Iyare and Shelley. "I knew it; my Dad has a bad test for the trusted steward," Iyare thought.
"We need to find out who she was talking to on the phone. I also confirmed there was no break-in yesterday. Cece delivered the package," Sam said and informed them about his investigation the night before.
Iyare was impressed by his dedication; she finally found people to whom she could give a little of her trust. "I am not sure those two will give us answers willing; I suggest a little torture," Sam said.
"That's okay," Iyare gave her approval. "Don't worry, MA, we will inform you once we are done breaking them," Sam said. He was not sure if Iyare would be able to stand the torture method He planned to use.
"No, I want to watch them get tortured," Iyare said. "Me too," Shelley immediately said; she needed to watch those backstabbers suffer.
"We have a torture room, but it is a security secret. Only a few people are aware of it. Miss Shelley, I will have to knock you out if you will come along," Sam explains to her.
$That's okay," Shelley agreed immediately. Sam injected her, and she fell unconscious. He immediately picked up his phone and asked Peter to turn off the security cameras that led to the location of the torture room.
The torture room was located behind the garden in the mansion. It was an underground house and could also pass for a safe house in time of trouble. Only Sam, Peter, Abel, and Andrew are aware of the torture room, and they are Sam's most trusted men. Of course, Mr Onasa was aware of it too.
He then called Abel and Andrew to bring Cece and Josephine to the torture room. He also told them to come along with Cece's secret phone. Abel and Andrew immediately moved into action and knocked Cece and Josephine unconscious.
The workers in the house were going about their daily duties that morning. No one dares gossip, as they were scared of being implicated.
They could tell that the security in the house was now very tight, and everyone was a suspect concerning the mysterious package delivered yesterday. They were not sure what was contained in the package, but they knew it could not be good.
Those that saw Josephine and Cece being carried out unconscious pretended to have seen nothing and concerted on whatever they were doing.
