obliterated him.

The next morning Iyare woke up early. It was Monday and the day for the board members to vote. She wanted to arrive at the company on time.

She received confirmation that Charles's news had been leaked to the media. She could reveal the report to the press but did not want to get directly involved.

If Charles knew that she released the news, he might suspect her, and she did not want that. So it was best to make their company revival do the job.

Charles will suspect that they set him up once he finds this out. So he will concentrate on looking for cues where there were none.

After eating her Breakfast, Iyare left for the company with Shelley. "When do you think the news be released?" Iyare asked Shelley as they drove out of the mansion with Abel and Andrew driving behind them.

"Any moment from now. I had contacted the lawyer; he will be at the company to see you after the board meeting," Shelley informed Iyare.

Iyare nodded her head. They knew that when Cece's body was examined, they would definitely notice the torture mark on her. So Iyare has decided to admit to torturing her. So the lawyer was coming to help them prepare for the police questioning.

Meanwhile, Charles was already sitting comfortably in his office chair. He knew he would lose the voting today, but he did not mind. He needed to sort out the set-up thing first before taking back the position of the president.

"Breaking news," Charles heard the reporter's voice from his television set. He turned his attention to it and froze when he saw himself on the television screen.

How was this possible? He thought. He immediately called Greg over the intercom and asked him to come to his office.

Greg already saw the news, and he knew why his boss was calling him.

"Sir," Greg bowed as he stepped into the office.

"How did this happen?" he asked, pointing to the television screen.

"I am not sure, sir, but I will check it out. I guess one of your enemies leaked this to the media," Greg responded.

"That's right, find out who is behind this. I am sure the person is also responsible for the set-up," Charles said. He believed that if he found the person that set him up, it would help him in looking for the right clues to free himself.

"I will get to it, sir," Greg said and walked out of the office. Charles tightened his fist; who the hell was messing with him like this. Who else will have this information to leak to the media except for the person who planned the incident, Charles concluded.

He needed to clear his name as soon as possible. He thought he could close the investigation quickly since the media were not involved. Who would have thought this would be waiting for him today. The name of all his enemies flashed through his mind, but he could not decide which of them was responsible for his misfortune. Of course, he could never think of Iyare; she just came into the city with zero connections.

He has forgotten about Sam's loyalty, and of course, he never paid attention to Shelley, her new assistant; for him, she was no one special.

"Sir," there was a knock on his door. "Come in," Charles answered.

"It is time for the board meeting, sir," his secretary informed him.

Charles nodded his head.

....

In the board room, the board members were already sitting down. They were all shocked by the breaking news a few minutes ago. They had all agreed earlier to sell their shares if Iyare insisted on being the president. But with the information that morning, will they still dare make Charles their president.

The company's reputation would be at stake if a Murderer were its president. That will not be good for business at all.

Charles walked into the board with his head bowed; how was he going to face all these people today. He knew nobody cared if he murdered the lady or not but being caught was his mistake. If he could clear his name, then everything would be just fine.

Iyare, accompanied by Shelley, walked in after Charles. "Ladies and gentlemen, we all know why we are seated here today," the company lawyer started talking. "So let's get straight to the business..."

"Wait," a board member interrupted him.

All the board members turned towards Mr Jones, waiting to hear what he had to say.

" I think we have a bigger problem, the breaking news this morning may affect our company's Share. We need to deal with it immediately," Mr Jones said with a raised eyebrow.

"The breaking news this morning has nothing to do with the company. It is a personal problem of Mr Charles. I am sure he will be able to settle it soon, right?" Iyare asked, looking at Charles.

Charles nodded his head without saying a word. "Miss Iyare, even if it is a personal issue, Mr Charles is a director in this organisation, and there is a lot of speculation that he would be the next president. This will definitely affect the company's shares," Mr Jay said with irritation in his voice.

The other board members nodded in agreement; how could Iyare not know something this simple, yet she plans on being their president.

"Speculation, you say. The question is, does he(mr Charles) have the means to become the company's next president?" Iyare asked, then took a sip of her coffee. Her voice was calm, but this irritated the board members.

Who the hell did she think she is, acting all power. Iyare turn her head to the lawyer "let's vote; I have other things to attend to," she said since the board members did not have an answer to her question. Indeed with the amount of shares Iyare has inherited, without her approval, Charles could not become the next president.

"What is the point of this stupid voting when you own most of the shares?" Mr Jay said, getting more irritated.

"Why else, if not to rub your stupidity on your faces," Iyare answered snuggly.

This annoyed all the board members. How could she insult them like that? Of course, she was right; it was foolish on their part to even consider the voting.

"Miss. I will like you to know that we as the board members have decided to make Mr Charles the president of this group. Following the breaking news this morning, we will not announce it to the public yet.

Mr Charles is competent; he worked hand in hand with your father," Mr Jay's said; he sounded as though Iyare had no choice but to accept. The board members immediately nod in agreement.

"That right, you can learn under him for a few years, when we are certain of your strength, the position back to you," another board member tries to calm the atmosphere.

Iyare could not bother herself arguing with Tham. So she simple stood up from her chair and sat down on the precedent chair. This action shocked the entire board members.

They seem to have forgotten what happened the last time in the board room. "If you have the power to unseat me, you are welcome to try," Iyare said with a grin. She would be a fool if she accepted to learn under Charles. He killed her father and her for the company. How could she stand letting him sit on the chair for even a day?

"Then we all will sell our shares and cause the stock to fall," Mr Jay threatened. Iyare burst into a fit of laughter. These people saw her as a stupid pushover.

Did she look stupid to them? All their shares put together were just thirty percent. Onas group is top ten in the entire world. A lot of investors will be willing to invest in it.

Shelley explained all this to her last night. The board members only cared about making money. Once they are convinced that Iyare will do that, they will all back down.

The board member's jaw dropped open seeing her laugh like someone in a comedy show. What was so funny? They looked at each other with confusion.

"You are welcome to sell your shares. I am sure a lot of investors will be willing to buy. Besides, I intend to buy back ten percent; this board room is too full. I intend to make us just ten in numbers. Remember the agreement you signed with the company before you bought the share? Unless the sitting president cannot afford the market price of the shares, you can not sell it to outsiders," Iyare said.

The board members' faces turned dark, if they spread the news that Iyare was incompetent, the market price would fall, and they would lose money. But if they spread such information after they sold their shares, they would just be taken as haters. Their words will not be taken seriously, and given the company's high working capital, Iyare would not be able to run it down in a few months even if she was stupid. Moreover, the board members with eyes could already see that she was not stupid.

Iyare felt satisfied seeing the look on their faces. "Shelley, go with the lawyer to the PR department. Tell them to release an official response from the company. Stating that the company is willing to cooperate with the investigation of Mr Charles's aligned murder. I want that news to be my first statement as the company's new president. I am also interested in knowing the relationship between my maid and him since I was recently poisoned," Iyare said and walked out of the board room.

How could she miss the opportunity of getting Charles alert yet miss lead him? Her statement will make Charles believe that she knew nothing and was shocked by the news too.

The board room fell silent. None of the board members was willing to sell off their share. It was just a threat. Which businessman would deliberately lose money to prove a stupid point that will in no way benefit them.

Charles, on the other hand, was outraged, he knew he would not sit on that chair today, but he was still disappointed by the outcome of the meeting.

Who the hell was messing with him? He immediately regretted not stopping the board members from carrying out their previous plan. Now Iyare will suspect him for the poisoning incident of Saturday. The girl is not as stupid as he thought.

What the hell? He needed to silence Josephine as soon as possible. Now that he thought of it, Cece was going to give him the update on the day she got murdered. Why did Iyare not call the police involved if she has evidence? A sigh escaped his mouth before he excused himself from the board room.

He had to hurry up before this news obliterated him.
