Iyare waited for a long time after dressing Up, but there was no sign of Shelley. She was becoming impatient and thought of calling her when she heard the car's sound outside.
Iyare walked over to the window and watched Amina and Shelley get down from the car. She took a deep breath and put herself together. For some reason, she had mixed feelings about the situation.
She wanted to run to Amina and hug her, but at the same time, she tried to keep her identity a secret. She could bearly recognise herself, so she was sure that Amina would not recognise her, but her name was something she knew might make Amina suspicious. After all, it was not a very common name. she could only hope that her friend would regard it as a coincidence.
Amina looked at her environment as she walked into the house. She noticed the tight security and the cameras everywhere. Of course, she knew Quee city was the home of the wealthy, but she was feeling a bit confused. She wondered why someone would have cameras installed in their home, except they are into some shady deals.
Before heading to the Airport, she concluded that Iyare was alive and maybe her last boss had kidnapped her. She thought she would be taken to a warehouse or some isolated place; she came over because she did not want Iyare to suffer because of her. She never expected to be brought to a beautiful mansion. She concluded that whoever wished to see her was rich and powerful, not necessarily the last people she worked for.
She stepped into the house and met Iyare sitting casually, sipping her drink.
"Miss I..." Shelley was calling, but the look on her boss's face told her to shut up. Iyare was still feeling strange; she did not know how to act in front of Amina. She stole a glance at Amina and said hello in a distant voice.
"Merry," she called out.
Merry came running in from the kitchen. "Please lead our guest to her room," Iyare instructed. "Miss, please go with her," Iyare said to Amina without looking at her.
"Please freshen up and come down for dinner. You must be hungry and tired," Iyare said as she watched Amina walk away with Merry. Amina nodded her head as she walked away.
Amina was more confused now. she noticed Iyare giving Shelley a signal, even if she was unsure what it meant. She would have preferred to get down to business and know why she was called, but she changed her mind. She was hungry and thought it best to eat her food with a good appetite. Who knows what the people want from her. For a strange reason, the lady she met in the sitting room seems familiar, but she is sure she has never met her.
After taking her bath, Amina changed into something simple and walked out of the room. She was surprised to meet Merry waiting by her door. "This way, ma," Merry said, leading her to the dining hall. Amina wanted to start a conversation with Merry and see if she could get some information out of her, but she decided against it. The maids in the house must be carefully trained and will not give information away so easily.
Amina's jaw dropped open when she saw the feast on the table. Iyare was sitting at the head of the table while Shelley was seated at the right side. Amina wondered if they were having a party or if the meal was just for the three of them.
Josephine, who was standing by the table, pulled out a chair for Amina, who quietly took her seat.
"What would you like to eat?" Josephine asked when Amina was comfortably seated. Amina looked at the feast before her and her mouth watered. She noticed three of her favourite dishes were present on the table. So she immediately pointed at the potatoes that were her favourite.
Josephine places a plate in front of her and dishes the food for her. Amina picked up her fork, ready to dig in, when she suddenly paused.
Was it just a coincidence that her favourite meal was on the table? What if they wanted to poison or feed her some drugs that would make her act up.
She has seen it in movies, where the villain would feed the protagonist poison, and the person will be forced to do things out of their will to get the antidote.
Iyare smiled when she noticed the hesitation in her friend's eyes. 'It seems the girl was as conscious as ever,' Iyare thought. Without saying anything, Iyare took a spoon full from Amina's plate and ate it.
Amina was surprised at the gesture and felt her fear was stupid. If they wanted to hurt her, she was sure they could just do it, right? They did not have to go through the long process of fooling her.
Amina looked at Iyare and was going to apologise, but she swallowed her words and started eating, afraid of being misunderstood.
They ate their meal silently, each stealing a glance at the other. When they finished their meal, they walked to the sitting room. Shelley could not help but get curious about Amina.
She had to keep biting her tongue to stop herself from asking the many questions in her mind when she went to pick up Amina. But that did not stop her from checking Amina's flight to find where she was coming from.
It was no surprise when she saw Amina's flight was from Ng. Many people knew that Mr Onasa was from the north, but no one was sure which country.
"Were you the one who sent me the message?" Amina asked as soon as they were seated. Iyare nodded her head. She was not sure of how to start the conversation with Amina. She knew Amina was clever and would not be easy to deceive but would Amina even believe her if she told her she was Iyare.
"So, what can I do for you?" Amina asked; she did not believe she was invited over just to share a meal.
"I want you to work for me," Iyare replied without beating around the bush. Knowing Amina very well, she hated talking in circles. She would rather be straightforward.
Amina nodded her head. She has expected this reply. "How did you get my code?" Amina asked. She knew what kind of job the lady was talking about. After all, the latter hacked her system and used her cold. So there was no doubt that the person knew about her ability. Unfortunately, she was done with such a job.
Even if she would love to hear Iyare was alive, she somehow wished the girl was dead because she did not want to be forced to do whatever job they had for her.
Iyare was not surprised by the question; she expected it. After all, only those close to her know about her secret ability and the code. "I meet a friend of yours. She was quite good with the job, and since I needed more hands, she recommended you," Iyare answered.
"Hmmm, what is the name of this, my friend?" Amina asked.
"Iyare," Iyare replied. She had no other choice. After all, she did not know any other name to call.
"Iyare will not just give my code to someone because of a job offer. What did you do to my friend?" Amina asked. She was so pissed off. Did this woman take her for a fool? Iyare will not give away her cold unless they torture it out of her.
Iyare was stunned by her friend's outburst. She did not think her friend trusted her so much, but she felt delighted to know she was trusted.
'Wait could it be that Iyare was dead, and they tortured her with the fire, and after that, they burned her beyond recognition,' Amina thought.
"What do you think we did to her?" Iyare asked.
"I don't know but tell me, is she still alive?" Amina asked. There was no point in sharing her thoughts. It was best to confirm if Iyare was alive or dead.
"You should know your friend Iyare died in the fire," Iyare replied.
"So you admit torturing and killing her in the fire." It was a statement, but Amina looked straight into Iyare's eyes for confirmation.
Shelley, who was listening to their conversation, was confused. There was another dead Iyare? What in the world was going on, and what job could Iyare want to be done that she had someone fly 15 hours? She looked at the two in a staring competition. The atmosphere has turned tense. Shelley held her breath; she somehow felt scared because her boss was unpredictable.
