Taste of loyalty

Iyare stared into Amina's eyes, confused. Honestly, she did not know what to tell her; She could not accept killing herself. Even if she did, Amina would definitely not work for someone that killed her friend. So what could she do? Amina would definitely not believe it if she had told her the truth.

Maybe she must give up the thought of having Amina work for her. "I have nothing to do with the fire incident. I want you to work for me," Iyare answered.

"What if I refuse?" Amina asked.

"Then you can be on your way," Iyare replied. "But I would ask you to think about it. It is a job to work in Ona's group ICT department. Trust me, there is nothing illegal about the job, and the pay is excellent. But again it is your choice. Discuss your decisions with my assistant." Iyare paused

"Shelley, please help her with whatever she wants. Information about the job or her flight ticket. If she is leaving, please prepare compensation for her, ?" Iyare instructed and excused herself.

She could not trust herself to go further with the conversation without becoming emotional. She would love to be friends with Amina again, but the circumstances are different.

Amina was confused; she expected the lady before her to threaten her but did not. Could it be that Iyare gave the lady her code willing? Iyare was always against the illegal jobs she did. So maybe when she met someone with an excellent offer to work legally, Iyare gave them her code with good intentions. Amina tried to join the dot. It was the only reasonable conclusion she could think about.

"I will let you rest; take your time to think about your decisions. I assure you that you will not regret working with Ona's group," Shelley informed her.

"Merry, please take the guest back to the room. I will see you in the morning," Shelley said before leaving the house.

She was sure Iyare invited Amina to join the company because of the last issue with the finance department. Iyare must be looking for more capable hands that she can trust. Shelley concluded, but she found it strange that there was some dead girl with the same name as her boss.

She was about to call her private detective to look into it when her phone beeped.

{We finally found some information. Meet me at the usual.}

Shelley read the message from the detective she was about to call. She did ask them to keep looking into Iyare.

She immediately got into her car and drove down to club Seven, their usual meeting spot. The detective was already seated when Shelley arrived. The club was the best place to discuss their findings.

Iyare was her boss, and digging into her past was inappropriate. It is not like she planned to use the information against her, but Shelley is inquisitive and likes to be well informed.

"So, what's the update?" Shelley asked once she sat beside him.

"You are not having anything?" the man asked.

"Drick, I can't get drunk; I have to be in my boss's place first thing in the morning," Shelley explained.

"It takes more than one drink to get the great Shelley Droverage to get drunk," Drick remarked.

"True, but you know I can't stop at one," Shelley replied. After she lost her parent's company, she drowned her sorrow in drinking and almost became an addict.

"Yeah, but I know your limit, and I promise to stop you," Drick said, giving Shelley a cute look so she would not refuse. "Okay fine, I will trust you," Shelley said. Drick immediately raised his hand to signal a waiter. The two have known each other since high school. Drick had a significant crush on Shelley but never found the courage to tell her. Apart from the fear that she will reject him. They were also from two different social statuses, and he was scared she would eventually be taken away from him. But since Shelley left the family after she lost her Ceo sit to her cousin, Drick began to nurse the hope that there could be something between them.

The waiter arrived with the drinks and placed them on the table. Shelley waited for the guy to leave before asking Drick to tell her all about his findings.

"Iyare grew up in country Ng with her grandmother. She lived a normal life without knowing who her father was until five years ago when Mr Onasa discovered her," Drick explained.

Shelley nods her head for him to continue.

"Mr Onasa seems to have trained her secretly for years to take over the company," Drick said.

"What! Iyare that I have been working with knows nothing about the company," Shelley said.

"Maybe she is just pretending; I mean, you told me yourself that the lady is full of surprises," Drick suggested.

"That is possible," Shelley said and sipped her drink. Then she picked up the folders and started looking at the various information. Everything looked convincing, but she felt things did not quite add up.

"What if she is an imposter?" Shelley asked when she remembered that a dead Iyare existed somewhere.

"Why would you even think of that? I thought a DNA test was carried out by the board members," Drick commented.

"I know, but earlier today, she asked me to pick up one Amina," Shelley said and informed him about the existence of some dead Iyare.

"So you think the dead friend of this Amina lady is the one who is Mr Onasa's daughter?" Drick asked. He knew how his friend thought. He just wanted for her to confirm.

"It is possible; I mean, from your finding, Iyare should be very capable, but my current boss is not," Shelley said, unconvinced that Iyare was pretending.

"You could be right or very wrong. You can't rule out the possibility that the lady is just pretending. For example, the way she handles the board members during the meeting and how she easily figured out her father was murdered," Drick commented.

"True, but what if I am right. I mean, that girl slit a human throat without blinking an eye," Shelley said.

"We all know what kind of a man her father was, so I guess it comes with the blood. In any case, I think you should be careful. Someone capable of deceiving the entire board members and impersonating someone perfectly is dangerous. she killed someone and also easily pinned it on her enemy. I am sure you don't want to be that person's enemy." Drick analysed

"Besides, we are not sure about all this. Do you think if she has something to do with the other Iyare, she will let you listen to her conversation? It might be a trap she has set for you. She may be testing your loyalty. So I will advise you to forget this thought of yours," Drick advised.

He knew Shelley might be correct, but he was scared of her getting into trouble. "Fine, I will do like you said but could you find out about this other Iyare girl?" Shelley asked; she wanted to satisfy her curiosity

"Sure," Drick replied, but he made a mental note that he would not dig into it. It was not his business what Iyare did or did not do. He will lie to her about it. He could not let her get into trouble, especially now that she had left her family.
