Escape

A burst of radiant yellow light shot towards me and in a flash, it enveloped me, lifted me off the ground and soared into the night sky. The wind roared furiously, causing my dress to dance wildly, threatening to reveal more than I'd like. Struggling to keep my eyes open against the torrent of air and light, I finally succumbed and shut them tightly as I was hurtled through the skies.

The next moment, I could sense us descending and I braced myself for a rough landing, only to find myself floating gently above the damp earth of a thick, shrouded forest. The swirling ball of light dimmed and morphed to form Melody.

I stood still as my feet slowly landed on the ground, my pulse racing.

What had just happened?

"Are—are you okay?" I asked in a whisper, my vice also trembling as I surveyed the eerie surroundings from the corner of my eye.
