His smile relaxed into one of nonchalance and my guard soared. Why was he smiling like that? The last time he smiled like he didn't have a care in the world was when he was about to drag me out of his chambers back in Lord Lorn's castle.

 

"Wait, I—"

 

"Fine, I concede." I did not know when Lord Fashire appeared by my side, but he raised an arm to wrap it around my shoulder. I lost the inability to think and a cold sweat made its way down my spine, along with a chill that rendered me paralysed. 

 

A light wave of frost emitted from his paling skin and his slender fingers snaked around my chin to lightly dig into my cheeks. My teeth began to chatter from the cold that replaced the heat of the chamber.

 

A sharp pain so intense seared through the inside of my head and gathered to concentrate in my forehead as I had just rushed an iced drink. I struggled and jerked away from him, but he pulled me back.
