"Magicia epello collectum." Elysia groaned with frustration.
She has been trying to learn the spell to break her mother's barrier, but she can't even break her most powerful barrier. The spell was like billions of her spells merged to use at once. The weight was too heavy for her to bear.
"Elysia." Linda appeared on her training ground and Elysia looked up at her. "Wow, you look tired."
"That's because I am tired." She frowned sitting on the grass.
"Do you that eclipse is in two days? On the eclipse, our magic would lose its effectiveness. All magic will be weak." Linda sat before her, handing her a bottle of water.
Elysia gulped the water and took a deep breath as soon as she finished the content. "Why is that?"
"That's how it has been since the beginning of witchcraft. Our magic is like that until the following morning, when we'll feel a burst of energy because of the full moon." Linda replied.
"Okay." Elysia nodded.
"What are you practicing?" Linda asked.
"A spell." She replied, standing up. "Can you make me your most powerful barrier? Three different layers?"
"Okay." Linda did as she wished. "Just don't hurt yourself. If you exhaust yourself, you might be out for days."
"Okay." Elysia replied as Linda left. "Did you hear that, Twilight? I'm sure the barrier around the school will be weak by the night of the eclipse, so our escape will be effortless. If I can break these three barriers, I think I'll be ready."
After three hours, Elysia appeared in her room, smiling triumphantly. She had mastered the spell, even though it was hard and exhausting.
"I am famished." Elysia walked to the bread and milk on her bedside table and rushed it.
Twilight landed on her laps, eating some of the bread left on the plate. "Where should we start our search, Twilight? Should we go to the magical woods and see if we can find him?" Twilight stopped and looked up at her with a look saying 'Are you crazy'
"I'm not crazy Twilight. We should even go see the ocean up close if we find him. I'm certain if we ask anyone we see, she would be able to find him because he's the only make created." Elysia said, and Twilight shook his head in pity. "What? It's what I know I'm saying."
Twilight continued his food gently, not even paying attention to her rambling again. "Hey, I can try my spell on this barrier, and I'll go out of the tower right?"
Elysia walked to the door and opened it, facing a red barrier which had sparks moving around. "Magicia epello collectum."
The barrier stopped its movement for a few seconds before disappearing. Elysia squealed as she saw the barrier disappear. "Come on Twilight."
Elysia walked down the stairs of her tower and for the first time she admired the walls and paintings which went in an anticlockwise way down to the main door of her tower. Her room and bathroom were the only rooms in the whole tower.
As soon as she opened the door leading out of her tower, she squealed again. As if it was her first time stepping outside, she was very excited. She walked down to Lake Jasmine and luckily no one saw her. She sat excitedly looking outside.
"See, we made progress and I didn't even stress myself when breaking that barrier. So on the night of the eclipse, no one will be able to come after me because they don't have effective magic. Now I hope my magic is effective." Elysia said to Twilight, who was busy drinking from the lake.
She dipped her shoeless feet into the crystalline lake. She never saw the need to wear a shoe when in the tower, but the excitement of going out made her forget she didn't wear any. The sweet sound of the lake made her more happy, it was like nothing more existed. She dipped her hand in the water and took a scoop of the water and drank it. It was sharp and soothing as she felt the water pass through her body, she giggled slightly and sighed.
"Elysia." She heard Linda's voice, and she gritted her teeth, looking back at Linda who was staring at her with utmost surprise and disbelief. "How did you get out of the tower?"
"Are you underestimating me?" Elysia folded her arms.
"You learnt the counter spell?" She asked.
"Why else should I ask you to make barriers?" Elysia smirked.
"You have to go back to the tower now. Your mother must not see you outside." Linda tried to carry her, but the stubborn little girl pushed her aunt away with her magic.
"You don't think that little words will make me leave my comfort zone for that prison. Never." Elysia sneered.
"Come on, Elysia, you don't have to always be this stubborn. It's not like I won't let you out again." Linda rolled her eyes.
"In the next three months, right?" Elysia raised her brows behind her veil and Linda let out a frustration sigh.
"Elysia, anyone can just come into the school, and we don't know if they are enemies spy. You are only allowed to go out in the days no outsiders are allowed into the school. Today, mothers are coming to check on their children, so please go back into the tower Elysia." Linda pleaded, and the little girl shrugged before standing up.
"Come on, Twilight. Let's leave their so-called school for them." Elysia stressed the word leave to show Linda she was leaving.
"Thank you, sweetheart." Linda kissed her forehead before leading her back to the tower.
"And here we are again, back in the tower." Elysia sat on the window with a frown. "Why do I always have to stay here."
A book flew toward her, and she disappeared before appearing on her training ground. "Magicia epello Novo."
A large fireball came out of nowhere crashing into one of the pillars of the training ground. Elysia sat in the ground crying and Twilight stood before her looking up at her.
"I'm so tired, Twilight. I'm tired of life. All I want to have is a free life, meet people who will show me new things. I would never be able to leave this place. Although aunt Linda said the day will come, it feels like the day would never come. I repeat the same thing every single day, there's nothing new I can try. All I do is learn and master spells, there's nothing good in my life." Elysia cried and Twilight screeched and she smiled. "Except you."
Twilight flew into her arms and she cuddled with him. "I'm so glad to have you, Twilight."
Elysia returned to her room and walked to her potion table. "Maybe I can start making potions. I can do the protection one aunt Linda taught me."
Elysia climbed on the table and picked a book hidden behind the painting. She opened it and started walking around the room looking for ingredients to make the potion.
"I need this leaf, Twilight. Can you get them for me?" Elysia asked, and Twilight flew out and returned within twenty minutes. "Thank you."
Elysia stood on a stool and started making her potion. It took her a long time before she finished it. "See, Twilight. It is exactly like aunt Linda's example."
Elysia took off her necklace, which had an amethyst crystal. She dipped it into the potion and brought it out. The necklace shone brighter than usual, and it then turned back to normal. Just then, Linda walked in.
"What the hell are you doing?" Linda rushed to her and saw the potion. "Don't tell me."
"I made it and put it on my necklace." Elysia finished and Linda collected the necklace and examined it. She sighed, relieved.
"I told you not to try making potions when I'm not there." Linda scolded, and the little girl just shrugged.
"When I'm bored, why won't I do it. Just let me be for once, aunt Linda." Elysia got off the stool and walked to the window.
"Just don't try this nonsense on the day of the eclipse,, or you'll set the whole school on fire." Linda warned and Elysia smirked.
