Elysia sat at her window, impatiently waiting for it to be sundown. Lucky for her, she was the only one whose magic wasn't affected by the eclipse.
Since Linda had nothing to do, she had been with her since morning, telling her never-ending stories. Linda had left already for the night as she pretended to go to bed early.
"We have five minutes more Twilight. Let's go get ready. We have to make sure aunt Linda won't notice me being gone." Elysia walked to her wardrobe and picked a cloak familiar to those the students wore, and she carried a small bag with her personal spell book and wand. "Magicia epello collectum." She mumbled, making sure she didn't pronounce it wrongly.
As soon as she was done, she walked to the barrier and said the words, the barrier broke without much effort. Elysia walked down the stairs and out of the barrier. She walked as quick as she could, avoiding anyone who could easily notice she wasn't a student.
"It'll take a while to get to the gates, Twilight, I hope I don't get caught. Oh, I know." She cast a spell, and immediately she appeared near the gates of the school behind a fountain. "Now to get past those guards."
Elysia made a perfect distraction, and she slipped out of the gates, being welcomed by a fading red black barrier. "Magicia epello collectum."
The barrier broke, and she stepped outside. A gasp escaped her lips as she was welcomed by the beautiful sight of nature. A long path wide enough for a carriage were lit by each side, and it seemed to be endless. She could smell the scent of grass and the ocean. It felt like a dream. A peck from Twilight brought her to reality.
"Now let me see, if we pass the main road, I could be easily seen or tracked let's just pass the forest since it's an eclipse might anyway." Elysia walked down to the southeastern wall of the school before walking towards the woods. Twilight, who was in her bag shook with fear as he saw the woods up ahead. Elysia made a light with her magic and looked at the woods curiously. "Why are you scared? Woah, I don't think this is a good idea, it's pitch-black in there."
Linda had told her a lot about that forest every time she asked her about it. She still told her one in the morning. Anyone who goes into the forest never makes it back alive. She wanted to try it out and see what was so special about it, but she had an awful feeling about this.
The magical woods was created with black magic. The place held ferocious beasts and other magical things. Evil people used there as an abode. The history of the woods dated back to centuries ago when a woman was running from God knows where and was trying to get to the cliff to end her life. She couldn't reach there due to some problems she had crossing that part of the land to the edge of the cliff. The woman got furious and cursed that part of the earth and then trees grew all around there, and she also turned into the tree at the heart of the woods.
Elysia didn't believe that story, but looking at the woods this close, she could tell Linda wasn't making the stories up. "What do you think Twilight? He might be in there, but wait, what does he want to do in there? Could it be that he's evil? Could it be that he just lured me out? No." Elysia fell on her knees, assuming. "That isn't possible, right? He can't be evil, but his voice was so sweet. What should I do, Twilight? Should I still go after him? I don't know whether I should pass the main road or this one. If Aunt Linda knows I snuck out she's going to kill me and I only have three hours before she comes to my room to check up on me."
Elysia was busy talking to herself, she didn't notice Twilight who was shivering next to her because of what he was seeing. "What's wrong Tw..." She looked up and saw a whiff of black wind surrounding her. She saw it become thicker and circle her, like her magic did when it was breaking her mother's barrier. "What's happening?"
Suddenly the black smoke disappeared, and she saw another come towards her, and this time instead of circling her it entered her nostrils and her ears. A gasp escaped her lips as she saw her vision darkening due to the dark smoke filling her whole body.
Twilight who tried to fly away was captured by the same dark air and was left on the floor caged by the dark air. Elysia, who was trying hard to free herself or, was it keep her sanity and call for help couldn't utter a word. The colour of her always red veil turned into black and her skin which was always white like the snow turned darker in shade.
"Elysia....what a nice name…."
"Can I see who you are?"
"Come child, don't try to fight back, don't resist. Give in Elysia. I'm a friend of yours. I won't hurt you."
Elysia who was on her knees started rolling in the floor grabbing her stomach. "Let go of me. Let go."
"Elysia, I'm a friend of yours, let me in. I'll give you everything you've been dreaming of. Don't worry about the enemies, you'll be safe under my control."
"No, you're the enemy. Let go of me, I don't want you in me." Elysia groaned as she grabbed her veil trying to take it off, but she could just grab it.
"There's no escaping me Elysia, just give in. I'm promising you what your aunt asked you to wait for right now. If you give in, I'll give you everything you ever want. You'll be able to sail on the sea freely, you'll be able to walk on those mountains for as long as you wish. You will be able to see your appearance without the veil. Not only that, but you would be able to meet him, the one you're searching for."
Elysia slowly loosed herself, making the strange power take over her. "Good girl. Now come."
Elysia stepped into the woods with, looking around. She followed the path she could see and walked on. Some birds who were sitting on the tree glared at her, and she glared back, although she knew they couldn't see her. The dark sky was getting gloomy as the thunder boomed. Elysia kept walking and walking until she walked to the heart of the woods where a large tree stood. A river surrounded the lake, and it was like the tree was crying into the lake. She knelt before the lake and looked into the water, which was filled with black crystals.
"You just have to do one thing. Remove your veil."
"But I can't, only my mother can remove my veil." Elysia replied, her voice wasn't like it used to be. It was more weak and like someone was forcing her to speak.
"You can remove the veil Elysia, all you have to do is say some magic words."
"Tell it to me, as long as I will be free." She mumbled.
"Just touch the water and repeat after me."
Elysia touched the water and nodded gently.
"Escaldo mio coverto."
"Escaldo mio coverto." Elysia repeated, feeling her chest tighten, and she winced.
"Don't lose focus." "Revelo mio magicia."
"Revelo...mio....Magicia."
"Estello....."
"Ahhhhhhhh." Elysia screamed as something suddenly burned her hand.
"Elysia. Elysia is missing. Elysia is out of the school." Linda rushed out of her room as she saw something drop on her window. She looked outside and saw the sky dark, and suddenly, it started raining.
"Everyone, we need to get her now."
"Don't stop, Elysia, you're almost there. After these words, you'll be free. You won't be a prisoner in your home again."
"Ahhhhhh." Elysia screamed again as a drop of rain touched her body.
Elysia snapped out of the hypnosis immediately and crawled backwards. Her veil turned back to red and her skin turned back to its colour. "What am I doing here?"
"Finish the spell, Elysia. You'll be free for the rest of your life."
"No, no." Elysia crawled back. "Never, I would never listen to you."
Elysia stood up and started to run with all the strength in her. She ran as fast as she could.
"Don't think you can escape from me Elysia, you are trapped in my world till you give in."
Two large beasts appeared in front of Elysia, and she fell back. They were large and ugly, but she noticed she had seen them before, "Magicia Amatere Novo."
The beasts started to burn and Elysia smiled. "You'll have to do better than that."
"We'll see."
More and more of the beasts appeared before her. She started moving back until she almost got to the edge of the lake. The more she burned them the more they became.
"Give in already, Elysia."
"Never." Elysia yelled.
"Then you'll leave me no choice."
