Slip Of Paper

Right before J's hand touched the chair he stopped moving it since he felt like the emblem on his chest was about to break his rib cage due to the strong vibrations coming from it. It seemed to him like the emblem was trying to warn him not to touch the chair in front of him but just to test the theory he began backing up and the farther away he got the less it vibrated until there was no vibration at all. The only thing left to test was to see if it was the same for someone else.

"Can you walk closer to the chair?" J asked the black-haired girl who was still beside him looking toward him with surprise since he had walked toward the chair with no fear at all.

"Why would I walk closer?! Are you trying to get me shocked?!" The black-haired girl questioned in confusion after hearing what J said but J didn't mean that at all so he explained himself.

"Don't worry you don't have to actually touch the thing just get closer to it and you should start feeling the emblem on your clothes start vibrating. I need to see if it's the same for me as it is for you." J explained as he pointed toward the three-eyed cat symbol on the right side of his jumpsuit.

The black-haired girl still looked reluctant even after he said that but she decided to trust him and start walking toward the chair under the scared gazes of everyone else in the room. It seems that everyone collectively agreed to eat before worrying about anything else so they were all watching the events unfold in front of them.

As the black-haired girl finally got within range of the vibration she flinched once the emblem started vibrating. The vibrations kept getting stronger as she got closer to the chair until she finally turned around and walked back to J who was watching with extreme curiosity in his eyes.

"I felt what you were talking about. It got stronger the closer I got to the chair but it stopped now that I'm back over here." The black-haired girl explained what she felt as she got closer and it matched exactly what J felt when he had gotten closer.

J began thinking about why the chairs were like this and why they would make people get shocked by the chair but as he was thinking about this another person arrived in front of the chair and before J could warn them or tell them not to go near it they touched it but opposite of J's expectations the electrocution never came and they just stood there with their hand on it.

"Are you not getting shocked?" J asked the person that was touching the chair who also looked to be surprised that nothing was happening to them. Originally they had intended only to get closer just to feel the vibration J was talking about but when they got closer they still didn't feel anything. When they got right in front of the chair there was still nothing so they decided to test their luck and touch the chair which resulted in nothing happening to them.

"I don't feel anything to be honest. Not even the vibrations you keep talking about." The person responded toward J as their surprise had slowly started to die down and they began moving the chair out from the table.

"Woah careful!" J said in surprise as he jumped away from the chair that the person pulled back. If J hadn't moved he would have touched the chair and been electrocuted like the guy from earlier or at least that's what he thinks will happen.

The person apologized before looking down in their chair. What they saw in their chair was something that J hadn't seen while trying to figure out the secret behind the chairs and would lead to the answer behind it all.

"Uh there's a piece of paper in my seat." The person said to J suddenly as they reached down into the chair before bringing up a small slip of paper.

"What does it say on it?" J questioned in surprise but also with curiosity as he squinted his eyes to try and read the small lettering on the piece of paper. He wasn't able to get close enough to read it but that wasn't a problem for the person that had it in their hand.

"It just has the name Weston on it." The person said in confusion while still looking at the slip of paper.

When the person said this J's mind began running and he recalled something that The Watcher had mentioned at the beginning of the first game. The fact that they would be getting their name after passing the first game as a reward. Just to be certain J quickly asked the person he assumed to be Weston a question.

"Just to check what's the initial of your name that you remember?" J asked the person who was still confused about where J was going with this.

"Mine was the letter w." The person said hesitantly before the same idea J had appeared in their mind and a wide smile became plastered on their face.

"Weston!" Weston shouted excitedly as he realized that the small slip of paper was the name they were promised at the beginning of the game.

J also smiled in excitement before turning back toward everyone else who had mixed emotions. Some had realized what was happening and began walking down the line of chairs looking for a chair that didn't make their emblem vibrate while others were still watching in confusion waiting for J to explain what was happening.

"Everyone! Go and find a chair that doesn't vibrate when you get close to it. That's your assigned chair and it will also have a small slip in the seat with your name on it!" J explained making everyone else in the group finally realize what was happening. They all began dispersing quickly with the new knowledge looking for their chair in excitement.

J and the black-haired girl were no different as they decided to talk again later since this was such important information for them especially since they still knew next to nothing about themselves or those around them.
