Hooked

Surprisingly Jonathan was just a tad bit faster than the baboons and was able to get some solid distance before arriving at the people now sprinting on top of the roof. Jonathan may not have bothered them if they were able to outrun the baboons but if he could catch up to them then so could the baboons.

"HEY! ALL OF YOU ON THOSE BUILDINGS!" Jonathan shouted to the approximately 5 people on the roof of the buildings. Not many had taken the risk of going up there and from what Jonathan had seen so far it was smarter to stay on the ground since the people on the roof would have to waste time getting down or face their doom.

When Jonathan yelled he just barely caught the attention of the people running on the roof. Many of them had smiles on their faces thinking that they had found some sort of shortcut or one of the things The Watcher mentioned at the beginning but they were sadly mistaken.

"WHAT IS IT?" One of them shouted back at Jonathan speaking for all 5 of them.

Jonathan then raised his hand and began pointing backward a little ways behind the 5, "LOOK BACK THERE! YOU NEED TO GET DOWN!" Jonathan shouted trying his best to warn the people that they were in danger.

The person that first responded looked behind him and when he saw the baboons quickly making their way along the roof his eyes went wide. After that, he began yelling at the other people on the roof with him. Within a few moments 3 people had begun climbing their way down from the building and back onto the main street.

Jonathan quickly made his way over to where the people were climbing down and he held his arms out since the bulls were getting closer and closer with each passing second, "JUMP!" Jonathan shouted catching the three's attention.

One by one each of the people jumped from the side of the building into Jonathan's arms causing his arms and back to become slightly pained but he wasn't worried about that at the moment since there were still two people on top of the building.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING! YOU'RE GOING TO DIE IF YOU DON'T JUMP!" Jonathan shouted trying to plead with them to jump down before they met the same fate as the man before. Despite Jonathan's best efforts the other two on top, one being a man and another being a woman, ignored his calls completely and kept on running with the baboons gaining on them every moment.

Jonathan could only curse under his breath at their dumb decision but still hope that they may still possibly be able to outrun the baboons and make it to safety. Sadly that wasn't the case since within the next 2 minutes the baboons had finally caught up.

The man had slowly fallen behind the woman in speed since he seemed to be running out of energy. Initially, he looked like he was going to stop and rest but when he heard the cries of the baboons behind him it looked like he had been given newfound energy. While the newfound energy did get him far it didn't last long enough.

Soon enough one of the baboons was able to reach out and hook its arm around the man's foot. When this happened the man gasped in surprise but it was too late to do anything since he tripped on the arm and fell to the ground. Everyone on the street and the girl on top of the building heard this making everyone look at the man as he began getting brutally beaten by the baboons on the roof of the building.

"AHHHH LET ME GO! LET ME OFF YO- GAHHHH!" The last blood-curdling scream of the man was let out as the rest of the baboons finally made it to the man attacking him from all angles and somehow crushing his skull.

While the gore and the ugly sight weren't visible from the ground it was most definitely visible from the roof which was apparent on the girl's face. The girl looked like she was about to puke and it visibly began affecting her running speed which caused Jonathan to panic, he didn't want to see another person killed by the baboons.

"HURRY JUMP DOWN!" Jonathan shouted once more trying to get the girl to come to a safer place. While the street was still dangerous it wasn't nearly as bad as on the roof where the baboons were faster than most people. The bulls would also be a lot faster if not for the fact there were so many and they were continuously bumping into each other as they ran toward the people.

The girl finally seemed to take in what Jonathan said and saw the danger behind her but she seemed to be a little too shaken since instead of first trying to get lower to the ground she sprinted to the edge of the building and jumped off of it aiming toward Jonathan's body.

Jonathan was momentarily stunned but he quickly stopped opening his arms up for the girl and much to his surprise there were three other sets of arms helping Jonathan catch the girl as she fell. When Jonathan looked up he saw the other three that had been on top of the roof now helping catch the girl and let her safely onto the ground.

The four people looked toward Jonathan momentarily with smiles before each saying their thank you and continuing with their sprint. Jonathan smiled to himself happy that he was at least able to save a few of them. The only problem was that he was now dead last in the race or at least that's what he thought until he heard a yell behind him.

"JONATHAN! HELP ME!" A child screamed behind Jonathan making him spin around as he ran only to widen his eyes as he saw the person truly in last place sprinting for her life. Angela was currently in last and there was sweat plastered all across her forehead showing the effort she had been putting in running from the bulls but it seemed like that hadn't helped.
