In the heart of a forest, among the wood and the wet meadow, dozed a beautiful girl with deep black hair. She rested peacefully and had an appearance like a doll. The trees had prevented the blazing sunshine from protecting her sleep for most of the day, but in the evening, the sun found its way to shine right on the girls' faces.
The sun shining right on her face awoke her from the deep sleep she had been in. She slowly leaned up and stretched her arms, seeking to regain her strength back. She leaned on a tree, as she had almost no energy to stand up. It felt as if she had been sleeping for an average decade. Never had she ever got a good sleep like this.
The surrounding trees had some bullet marks. She wondered where she was and how she got there? She had no memory of anything. Moreover, She didn't even remember her name.
Puzzled, she looked around her. She saw a gun resting right a few steps away from her. That was when everything that happened to her played in her head like a movie.
Her eyes soon started to fill with tears from the heavy headache. Suddenly, she remembered the devil's words and realized she was in a whole new body. Squinting her eyes, she held her hands up to prevent the sunlight from reaching her face and slowly clenched it into a fist.
"So this is my new body," she sputtered under her breath, still wondering if this was all a dream. "God loves me, it seems," she smiled to herself. She was healthy, and that was the bare minimum anyone can ask for if they got the option to ask anything.
On the other hand, If it was not for her seeing everything that she saw earlier with her own eyes, she wouldn't have considered that this could even be true.
Evelyn glanced around, hoping if there were people, she saw nothing but woods and heard nothing but chirps of birds.
She picked out the gun and placed it in her gun holder that was around her waist. She didn't even know how a gun worked. All she knew was that you need to pull the trigger first to shoot someone.
In her past life, she loathed guns so much that she didn't even wish to learn about them, and her family respected that. 'If only I had taken that skill,' she 'tched' as she stood up, taking support from the tree. This body was much taller than her original one, she felt it. Height around 5.8" was what she estimated.
Within seconds, Eve was wandering cluelessly. She didn't know if she had been chased, kidnapped, or whatever happened before she took over this body. She counted on the devil's words since he claimed that she will be in a safe space, for now. All the things she saw right now were a miracle itself. She had no other choice but to accept his words.
The trees had extinguished the trace of the sky. There was nothing but greenery around, it made her hard to see which direction she should go. She chose a random direction and walked until she saw a building a little farther away.
After walking endlessly, Eve finally reached the end of the forest. The building that she saw from afar had rather appeared small but was an enormous mansion. She felt as if the luck was on her side today, knowing she took all the right directions to reach here.
"Miss is here!" someone screamed and the next thing she saw was people sprinting towards her. Suddenly, the glimpse of John's men covering the complete area flashed back. She panicked and took out her gun. Her stomach dropped and her heart started beating faster than ever.
Although Eve expected the next time she clashed with John, she would be fearless and unstoppable, the trauma was too much for her. Who wouldn't be traumatized after her family got killed in front of them? At that very second, she knew that she needed time; time to heal.
She pointed at each one of those maids while shouting, "BACK AWAY!"
It was evident that everyone was shocked by how their expressions changed seeing how Evelyn behaved. They had never seen their 'miss' being scared to this extent. Though she was frail but always craved to be strong; right now, they all were seeing something quite the opposite.
Eve kept moving back until her back touched a tree.
"Sleep," someone whispered before hitting the back of her ear making her instantly fall asleep. Her brother, Claude, carried the frail body of her sister, who had thrown tantrums and dashed into the forest to quell her anger. "Dad, she is here!" he yelled as he raced in his direction.
"This girl gives me such a headache," the father rubbed his forehead before caressing her hair. He was glad that he finally found his daughter. Even though he knew his daughter was not so far away from the mansion, he still was worried.
"Take Evelyn to her room," he said and stared at her gun holder. "It's empty." he looked at Claude. That gun was a gift from her father, and she always kept it with her. He wondered why she wasn't carrying it.
"Eve was being strange. So I struck her in the spirit gate point and she is now… asleep" (Spirit gate; A pressure point in the human body)
The father frowned. "This bastard, our whole family, is strange. Will you do this to everyone?" he flipped at his words. It was no doubt that Eve was the favorite daughter.
"No, that's not what I mean!" Claude defended himself. He looked at Eve. "She was scared of every servant and nearly shot them."
The father punched Claude in the head, "Why didn't you listen when I said to follow her?" he yelled. "Something must have happened in the forest,"
"Sorry…"
"Leave it now," father clicked his tongue. "Call the doctor, seize all the weapons and sharp objects out of her room."
"Okay," he answered and walked to another building. The main building was much bigger than the one Eve saw.
"Had fun getting me in trouble?" Claude said, despite knowing she won't listen. This troublemaker." he sighed.
He climbed up the stairs and asked a servant to call Peter, their most trusted family doctor.
He opened the door of Eve's room and placed her in her queen-size bed. The room was bigger even than her original one.
After placing Eve in her bed, he walked towards the wall where all her gun collections were and started putting them down one by one into the basket.
Eve was asleep, finally relaxed from all this. She required time for herself to relax and adjust to the new environment.
Someone bashed the door open. "young master, it's an emergency!" he blared. He was the butler of the family. "Hills family is eliminated,"
Claude dropped the gun from his hand. "What?!" he sprinted outside. "Send someone to collect all the weapons from her room," he stated as he closed the door.
A few years back, the root of the family the grandpa who first started this business had two sons. One was a genius but was an illegitimate child who no one knew about and the other was talented but not much as the firstborn.
The grandpa decided to hide the fact he had an illegitimate child and raised him secretly. Later in his life, he got more successful in business and had his own family of 5. While they still live with a lot of influence and power people still have no clue about the family and how they originated. They are known as 'the dark shadow.'
One was famous in the whole country or even the continent another was just famous in the city but got brutally murdered with his whole family by his rival John.
Coincidentally both daughters had the same name; Evylin Amber hills.
