Cultivating for the first time

It was quite early morning with birds chirping and sounds of dicing vegetables, cooking, quarrels and amusements started coming into Xiao San's ears. Xiao San slowly opened his eyes, and found that the outside is not completely bright yet and the Sun was just starting to rise. He thought about some plans and how he should go on to complete his mission. He nudged his Ye slowly to wake her up who had went to sleep beside him. She slowly peered her eyes open.

"Onii, it's too early to wake me up! It isn't even bright yet" Ye exclaimed.

"You are right, but did you forget we have a quest to complete! We need to find information about the current situation of Douluo Continent and try to reach Level 20 innate soul power!" Xiao San hurriedly said.

"Oh yeah. Right, then Onii as we decided yesterday you go and practice some exercises to strengthen your body and all while I am going to interact with the travelling traders and merchants." Ye confirmed.

"Well, let's first open the Novice Gift Pack given by the System. System I want to open the Novice Gift pack." Xiao San whispered.

"Yes Master.

""Huh"" The siblings were shocked out of their wits. They could not believe or understand why they received such legendary items that too from a Novice Gift pack. All the items in the gift were something people won't hesitate to die for. Empires may start wars if even one of these items became public.

The air suddenly whizzed and slowly two thin books, two golden balls, and a beautiful greenish hued jade box phased into existence out of nowhere. The two books were the Cultivation exercise and Body-strengthening exercise, the golden balls should be the two energy forms of the Martial Spirit, and the jade box should contain the Divine Pill. Xiao San started thinking what to do about the Divine Pill. The System only gave him one Divine Pill and he as unsure at the beginning what to do about it: Whether he consume it himself or give it to Ye. So, he asked the System for advice.

"System, what should I do with the Divine Pill. Should I consume it or give it to Sister Ye?"

"Master, it is recommended that you give it to your sister. Even though the System supports you protecting Ye, you must remember that the System mainly exists to make its host more powerful. But for now, you are going to be practicing the Cultivation Sutras provided by the System and hence are not going to lag behind. But your sister Ye might not get that many benefits from the System. Thus, it is recommended to make your sister powerful as and when possible. Meanwhile you must not lag in your practice." System argued.

'Well fine then. I will give it to her later. Meanwhile I should practice Cultivation and the Body-exercises to complete my quest.' Xiao San thought.

Xiao San went to the backyard of Grandpa Jack's house and sat down after finding a flat stone. He sat in a meditation posture and slowly closed his eyes. He silently chanted the "Heaven's Chaotic Sutra" in his mind trying to comprehend Dao.

Dragon chants started appearing around Xiao San unbeknownst to him. Tiny Golden dragons made of qi started floating around his body as his body and posture seemed to take the appearance of an immortal unmoved by anything. Godly hymns and Demonic cries started coming from him. It seemed the whole world's strongest races have come together to bow down in front of the Emperor. Xiao San didn't know about all the ruckus he was causing. He seemed to be immersed in his inner world. It was as clear as a vast lake but he couldn't see its send. It seemed the lake extended infinitely. This was his soul sea. There he could see, in the far off distance two objects floating side by side blurred by a fog. He wanted to come close to them and see what are those but however distance he walked, the distance always seemed to be constant. He gave up seeing this and minded them no further. He saw a tiny vortex slowly open in his mind. It was Xiao San absorbing soul power from his surrounding. It created a tiny vortex surrounding Xiao San's body. After 30 minutes, something that seemed to tie Xiao San back seemed to burst making a tiny BOOM sound. He opened his eyes and exclaimed.

"The heck!! I broke through Level 1 so fast! I thought becoming a soul master from an ordinary person should take time though and effort. I want to see my Status. System!"

"Master, here are your Stats:

"Well, Master, it shows your completion of understanding the Dao. In simple terms, it denotes how far you have comprehended Heaven's Chaotic Sutra. When your understanding reaches 100%, you will reach Level 100 and become a self-cultivated God."

"Wow! Self-cultivated God! But as far as I know, the God realm prohibits the human race from becoming a self-cultivated God. Won't there be any issues?" Xiao San pondered.

"Master this is because the Gods in the God realm are all fake Gods. They have become Gods by parasitizing the belief of Human beings and in some cases soul beasts as well. Self-cultivated Gods compared to these fake Gods, the difference is like Mountains compared to Ants respectively. But it is also understandable because, the difference between Level 99 Peak Peerless Douluo and Level 100 beginner God Officer is a big Gully. The difference is not only in the amount of Soul Power needed to be cultivated but also in the quality. It can be compared to an iceberg. Till Level 99 soul masters understand and are able to comprehend only the peak of the Iceberg. To become a God they have to have the ability to see the whole iceberg where the majority is hidden from their vision. The breakthrough depends on the understanding of the Heavenly Dao. Thus, the God Realm only allows Soul Masters to become Gods through God Inheritances else the belief of Soul Masters that the Gods absorb will be reduced because these are nothing but Cultivation Resources for the to get stronger and the Mortal Realm soul masters are just cash cows for them."

"Woah System! You never really talked this much. Do you have any enmity with the God Realm?" Xiao San asked with a surprised feeling.

"Well Master, I do have enmity with some individuals and clans. But the story is too deep and sorry to inform you Master but you knowing the story and the reason will only endanger your life. That's why I can't let you know." System hurriedly informed Xiao San with anxiousness.

"Don't worry System. I will train Super Hard and let you take revenge on them." Xiao San assured.

"Thank you Master." The System muttered in relief.

'Thank the heavens Shen Di didn't ask me for much information. Else I would have been troubled. I am sorry my love, I can only do this to keep you safe from danger. I can't let the disaster in our previous lives fall upon you again and can only protect you in this way. The enemy we are looking at is far too strong and I can only do this. Xiao Shi will always love you Shen.' The System thought in her mind.

"Is anything the matter, System?" Xiao San asked.

"No master. All is fine. Please cultivate and complete the quest. The time is short"

"Okay System." Xiao San answered.

An hour later another sound appeared. CRACKLE!! CRACKLE!! BOOM!! Xiao San broke through again. He reached Level 2.

'Okay. I will try and breakthrough again today and by then I guess my mind will be exhausted and I won't cultivate anymore for today. An exhausted mind can only lead to deviations in cultivation and I might create a Heart Demon. I will try the Body exercise then.' Xiao San thought.

Xiao San again closed his eyes and started meditating. He controlled the Soul power and let it flow through his 8 meridians again and again trying to condense it and impact the 3rd level. After around 1 hour and 15 minutes a loud BOOM sounded scattering twigs, leaves and dirt all around. Xiao San directly broke through Level 3.

'Wow, the progress is really fast. In just 1 day after practicing for nearly 3 hours I broke through Level 3. Is it really okay? Well, I am happy nonetheless. Let's see how to do the Body exercise.' Xiao San thought. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Granny and Grandpa Jack standing in front of him with horrified faces.

"Xiao Brat! Are you a soul master? But you haven't awakened a masrtial spirit yet. Hmm." Grandpa Jack pondered.

"Grandpa I was just cultivating. Even though I don't have a Martial Spirit but cultivating now before awakening can increase the chances of me awakening a good Martial Spirit." Xiao San bluffed not wanting to delve into this matter.

"Well good! Good! VERY GOOD!!! Every year there is no soul master that comes out from our village. If you can become a soul master, this old man can die without regrets." Grandpa Jack exclaimed happily.

"Oi you idiotic Old man. We came here to ask him to eat. Xiao come and have breakfast. We old people don't understand cultivation but I know that you can't cultivate on an empty stomach" Granny exclaimed.

"Oh! Yes Granny, I am hungry." 'I have to do my Body-strengthening exercises after this anyways. Its better to eat something and store energy before exercising' Xiao San thought.

"Well, come on brat! Your sister today helped us a lot and also helped cooked breakfast. She is so knowledgeable and gave so many ideas to the merchants and traders that they even gave her Gold Soul Coins to thank her." Grandpa Jack said.

"Well, my sister has always been curious and knowledgeable about the most unusual things. Well, let's go and have breakfast."

"Yeah" Granny said.

After having breakfast with Ye and his grandparents, Ye again went out to tutor the merchants about various marketing policies to increase their revenue while also gathering information about the World. Meanwhile, Xiao San again came to the backyard after breakfast to do his Body Exercise.

'Hmm. I understand. So basically I have to keep getting injured by various attacks and strengthen my body by absorbing the elements from those attacks. Sounds way painful and troublesome to me.' Xiao San thought.

'System, is there a Shop Functionality in the System so that I can buy various items?'

'Yes Master in fact there is such a functionality. You can buy Healing Potions, Secret Techniques, Fighting techniques etc." The System answered.

'Okay then where should I go to hunt?' Xiao San asked the System.

'Master, there is a forest called Devil Soul Forest close to this village, 10 miles from here. It is not controlled by any big power but as it is a small forest, the devil beasts in it are very weak.' The System answered.

'What do you mean by devil beasts?'

'Master devil beasts are beasts that are corrupted by the Evil God's will and curse. They don't generate soul rings and spirit bones but they are quite powerful. No one really cares about this forest because the beasts in it are too weak for any power to care about. The beasts don't even generate soul rings or spirit bones after death so the strongs in Douluo Continent don't care about this forest. In the forest the beasts can use destruction and evil elements in their attacks. Master, you can defeat those beasts and sell their bodies in the system to earn System Points (SPs) to buy items from the Shop. Each win in a battle, breakthroughs in cultivation and completion of quests and missions also generates SP. Even if Master gets attacked, you can try to hide and protect yourself while slowly performing the 'Chaotic all-elemental body' exercise and use the soul power in those attacks containing different attributes to temper your flesh. This will allow you to absorb soul rings with greater age than the normal configuration.' System answered.

'I see. Fine then. I will go to the forest.' Xiao San thought.

After that Xiao San got up and asked his grandparents to let him go outside the village to exercise his body and Grandpa Jack and Granny reluctantly agreed. They repeatedly asked him to take care. Xiao San nodded affirmatively and then sprinted towards Devil Soul Forest. He knew his grandparents won't let him come here if he told them he wanted to enter the forest.

'System how many SP do I have now?' Xiao San asked the System in his mind while sprinting.

'Master you have 6000 SP.' System answered.

'How did I get so many? I just broke through Level 3 right?' Xiao San doubtfully asked.

'Yes Master but as you get stronger your requirements will rise and so will the System prices. Hence this is not much at all. It depends on the items the Host needs in his current power level.'

'Okay. Hmm… A healing potion of Grade D which can heal Level 1 – 5 is 200 SP each! Neat! System withdraw 15 Healing potions (Grade D)'

'Okay Master. Purchase successful. You have 3000 SP remaining.' The System notified.

'Good! Now let's enter the forest.' Xiao San thought.

'Master all the best!' The System wished him luck.

"Yup! Devil Soul Forest! Hahahaha!!! Prepare to be slaughtered" Xiao San growled.
