She still sat there in that position.
"Please go ahead and sleep." He said with a polite tone yet again.
But she sat there in the same way.
"Go ahead and sleep..." he said in an anxious way as he turned his head towards Rachel. Only to find out that she had dozed off sitting in her position.
"Oh, you've already taken off." He smirked as he looked at him.
Her golden locks falling on her face and her red blushed cheeks making her look extra cute and adorable. Hr instinctively got up from his chair and walked towards her.
"How can you he so careless?" He mumbled to himself shaking his head as a smiled covered his face.
"How can you be so careless when you are a noble lady. You are unique." He thought to himself as he laid her down and covered her with a blanket.
"You are very beautiful." He mumbled.
After that he got to work as he always did.
The rain was till making a sound on the balcony shed outside his grand chamber. That sound made him feel alive and yet put him in a zone of relaxation. His eyes soon started to get heavy as his attention was getting blurred.
"No,no I must stay awake." He said as he shook his head and made a pact with himself to stay awake. But maybe the sound of the rain echoed like a magic spell. Too calming and yet too distracting.
"Guess I'll just take a short nap." He gave in to his heavy shoulder and already half shut eye lids. He kept the document down on the table and folded his hands.
He kept his head down and looked in the way the bed was. "Hmm. What will Desmond have to say about this arrangement hmm? That sly fox." Duncan mumbled and finally shut his eyes.
Some time had passed and the rain almost stopped. It was just drizzling outside, since the faint sound of the droplets on the plants in the grand balacony outside the room made it obvious.
"Is he asleep?" Regina got up and faintly walked down the bed. Taking into consideration whether Duncan was really asleep.
She had to move around like a feather, taking lighter steps and advancing in a way it doesn't become obvious that she was spying there.
"I need to pick that letter up to read it quickly." Regina thought as she went around the bed and walked towards Duncan's table.
She could tell he was fast asleep, but she could never take chances. The reason - Duncan being the king was trained to have a light sleep and quickly switch to defense mood even after getting up from sleep.
She knew, she knew that Duncan was quick. She had enough data on Duncan and all his habits provided by Count D'Azure. So now all she had to do was report her daily things to the Count.
"I'm just doing my work afterall." Regina thought as she walked behind the Duncan's table. Duncan, despite being potrayed as a tyrant by the people and being 'A person who doesn't show up' as per Regina's experience so far with him, it was clear that he cared about his stuff.
He took his work seriously and worked hard, he took care of his subjects and most importantly he treated people differently and genuinely.
She noticed all that within the time span of couple of hours she was with him. He had turned off all the lights and only kept the light on his work table turned on.
She looked down on him as she almost reached the place where the letter was supposed to exist. There gwas no doubt the letter was still there.
She reached out for the letter and breathed a sigh of relief. "Finally , I got it." She high-fived herself and opened it.
It was indeed a luxurious paper, which made it clear that some lord, or very notable person had written it. She shuffled through the pages which seemed to have gotten that specific shape.
The lines of the folds on the paper seemed to have almost gotten permanent. "Guess it was written a very long time ago." Regina thought.
The ink on the paper with which the sentences were written had created a space and embedded themselves on the soul of that paper.
"My dear Duncan," the initial first words read.
"Oooh." Regina thought to herself now that she suddenly felt intrested in reading more. But she had to stand a little close to Duncan's work table since that was the only light source she had.
The pages of the letter, which were attached togther with a fancy pin definitely were going to take more time to read.
Regina lightly loitered around the desk to find a perfect spot to read.
"Guess this should be fine." She walked a little closer to the desk. But still the light wasn't sufficient enough for her to read.
She advanced a little closer everytime she tried adjusting the light to read on her paper, until she found that the better way to read will be right beside his desk.
She sat down on the chair beside his desk.
Looking at him from a closer point of view, she suddenly realised that the man in front of her was a study material for her just a few days ago.
All the more, she was married to him and he was her husband, but she wasn't the one who was the face of the marriage, it was someone completely different.
"Huh? I've never felt such waves of emotions hit me before." She thought to herself as she decided to look back in the letter she had in her hand.
The silence in the room made Regina completely forget that she may also get caught.
She could die for reading something that identified as a confidential document for the king.
She could also get imprisoned and forever given a life of hell. Her being the queen wasn't even a shield for the anger that Duncan might potray.
But she was engrossed in what she was reading. She was lost in the words that were more precisely were never supposed to be seen by anyone.
The pages that she shuffled, made her look into the other side of the man who was sleeping right in fron of her on the desk.
"He was diffrent." A thought came into Regina's mind. "He is different." Another sentence attached to the previous one as she was nearing to the end of the letter.
