The story is about Avalon, a grumpy arrogant lad who never wanted to be a mage. He considers mages as weak and useless and is very critical of the old archmages and how they think. He blames them for the kingdom's ails and stunted growth.
However, unable to defy his parents, he was forced to join the academy of magery and becomes a mage himself.
