"Get down princess," Cyrus gripped his sword, feeling something was wrong. He sensed other people approaching them in the distance but when he peeked outside, the Blackwell guards were calm and there was no one else in sight.
"What's happening?" Amelia slid off her seat going to the floor of the carriage. She knew Cyrus wouldn't joke around when it came to danger.
"Someone is surrounding us. You there," he called to a guard riding a horse beside the carriage. "You must tell them to turn around before it's too late. I picked up on someone approaching us."
"Sit still northerner," the guard rolled his eyes dismissing Cyrus's claims. He was in on the king's plan to use the carriage as a trap to lure out Killian Bune. It was bad enough that the northerner was being pulled in the carriage but now he was trying to give him orders.
"It is an order from the princess to turn this carriage around at the sight of danger!" Cyrus yelled, frustrated the man was letting where they came from affect the fact that there was danger around them.
Knowing his one task was to protect Amelia, Cyrus turned to her and said," They are not listening. We are going to die-"
"Whoever you are on the outside you better turn this carriage around before I come out there strangle you my damn self, you idiot. Turn it around!" Amelia stood up to look out the window to yell at the man some more but Cyrus pushed her back down to the floor. "Sorry, I lost my composure there. That wasn't lady-like."
"Princess, please sit back down in your seat. The northerner has no idea what he is talking about and we will keep you safe."
"Get us a horse to get out of here Cyrus," Ordered Amelia. What was the point of trying to convince the man when his dislike for Cyrus refrained him from listening? She didn't know what danger Cyrus picked up on but she didn't wish to spend any more time waiting to find out.
Cyrus kept his hand on his sword, opening the door to take the horse from the man who wasn't listening to them.
"Princess-ugh," the guard on the horse groaned, falling off the horse after being struck in the head.
Since Cyrus had opened the door to get out, Amelia could see the guard's mouth wide open with a spear going right through it. She felt the urge to scream but refrained from doing so. This was no time to be screaming and acting a fool. This was life or death.
"Stay down!" Cyrus told Amelia, closing the door before the person could throw spears at her door. He recognized a symbol on the spear in the mouth of the guard they were just arguing with to belong to the northern king's elite men.
There wasn't a chance he could ride out of here with a horse and not get Amelia hurt. Cyrus rushed to the front of the carriage where the coachman was shaking with fear. He ignored the yelling and orders coming from the Blackwell guards but picked up on something interesting.
"There should be more of our men here for the trap."
"So, it was a fucking trap," he cursed under his breath climbing up the carriage to push the coachman off the side to fend for himself. In his eyes, everyone here had helped set Amelia up and they were not on his list to save.
All around the road they were traveling on, men of the north appeared attacking the Blackwell guards. Whatever backup they were looking for against the northern people was not coming. Cyrus tried his best to take control of the frightened horse who was thrown off guards by the sudden fighting and arrows being thrown around to kill enemies.
"Fuck," he cursed when a spear was thrown at one of the horses' legs right as he grabbed the reins to tell the horses to go. Soon after, weapons were thrown at the horse to keep the carriage from moving then they targeted Cyrus thinking he was the coachman. "Fine," he took out his sword, having no other choice but to get down and kill his own people to protect Amelia.
"Get the princess to safety!" One of the Blackwell guards yelled one time but before he could do it again, Cyrus knocked him out.
"Why are you announcing who is the carriage fool," he cursed the unconscious man. It was horrible to knock out someone like this but he had to do this to protect Amelia. Cyrus used the carriage to hide from the spears being thrown his way. It was unfortunate he didn't have a bow and arrow on him to aid in this fight.
"You there!" He called to a Blackwell archer who was trying to take out the northerners appearing all around them. "Pass me your extra bow and some arrows."
The archer was behind a tree attacking the enemy and close enough to pass the items to Cyrus but instead of doing so, he pointed his bow at Cyrus to kill him.
"Shit," Cyrus dodged the first arrow and used the archer having to reload to grab a spear that had missed him before to aim at the man, puncturing him in the neck. How stupid could they be to try to kill him at a time like this when they should be working together?
It was too risky to run to where the dead archer now laid as the small group of remaining guards were all surrounded. He could only wait for the men to get close enough for him to attack since there was no way he could grab Amelia and run on foot.
"What the-" Cyrus turned around hearing a growl behind him but he was too late to get out of the way as a giant wolf bit into his shoulder dragging him from the carriage for its master to see.
"Well, this is a surprise. One of our own fighting amongst these pigs but then again, I saw you kill the archer. Why are you here?" Killian pointed his large sword down at Cyrus's neck while his wolf held him down.
