He lied To Save Her.

(Remembrance: Few minutes before the war began).

In a dark room, the table lamp placed on top of the nightstand beside the bed little Wren was sleeping on, helped spread out little sparks of light in the room.

It was exactly at around eleven o'clock pm, and the little growing up pups like Wren were usually the first to be put to bed before the adult male and females would go to sleep.

Little Wren slept happily with zero worries on her mind, her father, Alpha Myers was the one who tucked her into bed and told her bedtime stories before she finally slept off.

Though Alpha Myers had a lot on his mind most especially, which turned out to be the soon approaching war they were going to fight against the dark venom pack, which was lingering round the corner already and he could actually smell it.

And as many responsibilities he held as an Alpha, he still never forgot about his parenting responsibility and that was taking care of his only pup Wren, she was his first priority.

Who he had with his Luna before he lost her to the cold hands of death caused by the last war his pack fought against the dark venom pack and now another deadly war was lingering near.

"Hey Wren, bunny wake up" Little Wren rubbed her sleepy eyes, and fluttered them open slowly to actually find her father in her room. She groaned inwardly, wondering why her father woke her up so late at that time of the night.

It wasn't even morning yet.

"Yes papa?" Her tiny feminine voice asked with sleepy eyes, Alpha Myers sat on her bed and held her tiny hands into his big palms and rubbed them softly.

"Listen to me bunny, Papa's going hunting and I will be back soon. I promise not to stay out long like I did the other time, okay?" Little Wren was supposed to nod her head affirmatively, listening to her father's words, but that was when the sleep actually got roused from her eyes.

"No papa, you can't go hunting. You never come back on time!" Little Wren had began to weep already, and also shaking her head negatively. Her father never came back on time whenever he went hunting and by hunting, she knew how bad it always ended up.

The last time he went hunting with her mom, her mom never returned back to the pack house and now he wanted to go hunting again. He may turn out to be the one who might not actually return home this time around.

Alpha Myers knew the kind of daughter he gave birth to and she wasn't the naive type. He was in his chambers and engaged some of his pack members in a serious meeting about the war lingering near against the dark venom pack, when Sophia ran into his chambers and reported the breaking news about his enemy Alpha Sanders stepping foot into his compound already and calling for war.

Alpha Myers had to go to the war to save his pack but he also had to see his daughter first before anything else, he knew how Wren would react if he told her he was going for war which he knew she totally wouldn't let him go, so he had to find another tactics to make her believe he was actually going for hunting and not for war.

"Hey bunny, listen to me. I promise to be back, okay?" Alpha Myers wiped the tears off little Wren's face and engulfed her in a tight embrace which little Wren responded to and embraced him tightly too.

She continued weeping and sniffing while embracing her father, and Alpha Myers broke the embrace before Wren's tears could soak up his clothes.

Something was wrong somewhere which little Wren knew, but she just couldn't describe it. Her father normally went hunting during the day and not at night, but before she could speak a word, he said to her.

"Now listen to me, I want you to do something for me, will you?"

"Yes papa" Little wren nodded her head positively.

"We are going to play hide and seek first before I go hunting, but this time we are going to play it differently, okay?" Alpha Myers smiled and pinched his daughter's cute cheeks playfully and she smiled.

That pretty smile on little Wren's face just meant she bought the lie he told her now.

As much as he didn't like lying to his daughter, he also didn't want to scare her by telling her the truth about him going to war. She was only ten and knew nothing about war, so it was a risk not worth taking.

Hide and seek was Wren's favorite game, and she loved playing it with her father all the time, mostly when he had a chance and as late as it was in the middle of the night, nothing would ever stop little Wren from agreeing to play hide and seek with her papa.

"But this time you would hide with Daniel, Stewart and Allen, while I come and search for you. okay?" Little Wren raised her head slightly to check out the people her father wanted her to hide with. And that was when she observed her father wasn't the only one in her room, he also came with some males.

"But why should I hide with them, papa?" Little wren pointed to the three males her father wanted her to hide with, she knew them all. But what she couldn't understand was the reason why her father wanted her to play hide with the three of them.

"But we usually play hide and seek alone, papa, why should we play with them?" Little wren asked with a shrug, her father was changing the ways they usually played the game and she didn't like it.

Wren was quite disturbing with her questions and was wasting time away, but as much as Alpha Myers wanted to leave for the war. He still had to give reasonable answers to his daughter's questions before he would go anywhere or else she would not let him go.

Alpha Myers tried explaining to little Wren but seeing the look she had on her face, he just sighed and said to her, "It's a long story bunny, so just do as papa says okay?".

"Okay" Little Wren nodded her head and let out a pretty smile, Alpha Myers smiled and embraced her for the second time, happy that she didn't went further with her questions anymore.

This time the embrace was much longer than the other one they had before and Alpha Myers didn't want to let go, in fear that he may lose to Alpha Sanders this time in the crazy war they were about to have.

He kissed the top of little Wren's platinum blonde hair before breaking the embrace and got up from the bed. He helped carry little Wren off her bed as if she weighed nothing and dropped her down on the floor gently.

Wren was so slender and actually lacked the normal height ten year olds have, but as she grew up she actually surpassed the height she lacked behind when she was little.

"Come on, let's go hide before father catches us all!" Little wren grabbed Allen's hand and interlocked her tiny fingers in between his and pulled him out of the room to go hide as her father wanted her to.

Alpha Myers signaled Allen, Stewart and Daniel and the three of them nodded and left the room with Wren. Little Wren was extremely excited; she was going to have fun with her father before he would leave for hunting and left with Allen without worrying about anything else.

If only she knew her father wasn't actually going hunting but for war, then little Wren would have never let him go, if only she knew that night would be the last night she would actually see him, little Wren would have never let go.

But as naive and excited as any little kid would actually get when their parents promised to have fun with them. Little Wren's happiness was unlimited.

Alpha Myers sighed and rubbed his forehead softly, lying was the one thing he hated the most and he hated it the most when he lied to his daughter but he had to do it to save her. He lied to save her.

Alpha Myers looked around his daughter's room and smiled before leaving and locked it behind as he left.

"Alpha Sanders, let's get this shit done with already".
