Chapter Forty five

Her mother's burial was held a week later. Sophie tried her possible best not to be too emotional, because of her baby. The doctor had warned her that her blood pressure mustn't go high or it will harm the baby. But still she couldn't help the tears that flowed freely down her cheeks.

Marcus was by her side all along, going through the trauma with her. And cleaning her tears.

She was glad she had someone by her side, but that doesn't mean she wasn't furious that her poor mother had died just because she was with Marcus. To her, all this was her fault. she blamed herself for her mother's death and she would never forgive herself for what has happened.

She didn't allow Camille to come to the burial center. She had left her with Stella, whom had volunteered to babysit her again.

After the ceremony and everything was done, Sophie turned to leave as she left Marcus talking to one of the men around.

Some of her mother's friends stopped her as she was about to enter the car.

"Sophie!" A woman she didn't Know among them called her name.

She tried her best to smile at them as they walked over.

"Oh you poor thing..... anyway, I'm Julia, your mother's friend. However did she die?" The woman asked with pity and concern in her voice.

Before Sophie could answer, another woman spoke.

"I heard it was a stray bullet, some said they where hired killer sent to kill you, which one is true?" Emma, another of the woman said.

Sophie didn't even know how to answer their questions. Should she tell them that they were after her life, because of the man she got pregnant for?

"Am sorry.....I..."

"You don't have to answer Sophie, I can understand what you're going through, here, this is my card, call me whenever you put to bed, I can volunteer to help you with your baby. It won't be something easy as this is your first child" Julia told her.

Sophie smiled her gratitude and nodded as she took the card from Julia.

"Thank you" She said and watched as they all Walked away.

Sophie opened the car door and entered into the passenger seat as she stared at the card in her hand.

A single tear escaped her eye and she wondered. What has she done to deserve all these. Who was next? Which of her loved ones where they going to kill now? Will she seat and allow someone destroy her life like this?

Placing her head on the seat, she rested back into it and almost dozed off waiting for Marcus.

He came back almost an hour later and slipped her hair behind her ear. She slowly opened her eyes.

He gave her a warm smile.

"You look exhausted, let's go home now. I'll prepare something for you."

She returned his smile and nodded.

"Thanks Marcus"

Sophie was lying down on her bed in her room that evening, staring up at the ceiling and seemingly lost in thought when Marcus knocked on the door.

"Can I come in?" he asked drawing her out of her deep thoughts.

"Come in" She called out silently.

He opened the door as quietly and slowly as he could.

Her room was dimly lit, Marcus thought as he walked over to sir beside her on the bed.

She didn't even bother to get up, she layed on her side, her hands placed under her cheek and she stared at him.

"I wanted to tell you something important." He said slipping some strands of loose hair behind her ear. And he gently caressed her pink pale Rosy cheek.

"What is it? I'm all ears"

"I want you to move out" He stated blankly.

"Hmnn?" she asked confused.

"I have my reasons for saying so. It's not safe for you anymore, I don't want anything happening to you"

"Where do you want me to move to?" Sophie asked almost In tears as she sat up slowly.

He tried to help her but she shook his hands off her.

"It's okay!"

"Sophie, I'm not just sending you out, I'm only doing this for your sake, the baby's sake, our sake. I can't bear seeing you hurt..."

"But there are guards here, who want to come In and hurt me? You're here too. Can someone hurt me when you're here with me?"

"Sophie..."

"Or do you have something else on your agenda? I Kno this pregnancy has made me plumb and less pretty. But I didn't get myself pregnant, did I?"

"No Sophie, No... you've got it all wrong, You're beautiful as you are. Even more than before and you aren't plump or fat, it's my baby that made you add more weight"

Sophie scoffed at his soft tone and looked away.

"There's nothing on my agenda Sophie, I just want you out of here, this place feels unsafe. Am sure any attack they have on us now will be directed to this place."

"So?"

"So, I want you to move to my house I. the countryside"

"Your house in the countryside?"

"Yeah, it's a four bedroom apartment, not as big as this though, but am sure it'll be the best place for you, a few guards will come along with you and you can take Camille along too"

Sophie thought, wasn't that a good idea, but why wasn't he bringing up the suggestion of going with them?

Did he truely have a hidden agenda he didn't want her to know about?

"why aren't you coming with us?"

"Work...I'll stay back and work here, I can't be coming over from the countryside every single day, can I? But I promise to visit every weekend. And when everything has finally settled down. We'll come back together and possibly tie the knot." He said and With this he kissed her on the cheek and ruffled her hair. Without giving her the chance to say anything he walked out if the room.

She was moving to the countryside, a quiet place, with only her and Camille. With few guards to watch over them. That would be nice. But without Marcus?

Would seeing him once in a week leave a good impact on her. She'll probably due of frustration of not being able to see him.

She thought she heard him say something like tie the knot when everything is settled?

Did she hear right or her mind was playing tricks in her? The second thought would be the best answer.

Marcus walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge to grab a bottled water, and he gulped it down and walked back to the sitting room.

That had worked out perfectly, just like he'd expected. That was plan number two, to get Sophie out of the house. Now that he'd successfully convinced her to move to the countryside, he would move to plan three. And that would be.... His first plan had been to make Stacy fall in love with him again and gain her trust and that he'd done. He needed to do whatever it is he has to do. He would make sure he get rid of all obstacles blocking his way. And the number one obstacle was Stacy. He needed to put her in her place. And by doing that, He would need to be seductive. He would seduce her and then capture her most intense moments.

Sophie wouldn't understand a thing of what was going on if he tries to explain to her, that is why he didn't bother telling her anything. Though he knew he should but she may dissuade him from doing it.

But he had planned it all, to the very last details. And he wouldn't let anyone ruin it for him.

Tommorow, he was going to drive her and Camille to his private estate. Everything they'll ever need as been arranged for them. So she'll be there till he'll solve all this mess that has happened.
