`the boy could use some work on his personality and his body but besides that, he's almost perfect' it was the only thought going through All Might's head observing Atsui cleaning the beach, on the other hand
`will he stop stalking me the exams are in three days' was what Atsui was thinking, one would think that after being observed for so long one would get used to it but no. it was the same as every day, walk to the beach at 3 am, eat breakfast then start training until lunch then begin training again till dinner.
this was Atsui's new schedule after the first few days of being stalked he had adjusted it so he could have a little privacy but All Might adjusted his schedule as well after just a few days. one would worry after being stalked for so long but Atsui didn't, he knew who was stalking him and any crimes were not to happen because of who was stalking him.
it was probably the worst knowing what All Might was stalking him for, heroic compatibility. one needed that feature to inherit One for All, it was often proved by going through extreme exercise daily until the body seemed worthy, anybody who wasn't proven as heroic was deemed villainous, their thoughts would change to productive heroic thoughts so they become a fit user. if someone was proven heroic but actually villainous they would keep the quirk till the previous users watched all of their memories and collected enough energy to make a connection where the new user would be questioned then the quirk would forcibly try to change the villainous user's thoughts to heroic ones.
Atsui did not fit the bill of a heroic guy anyways but fate had its way with people like him. Atsui had made progress with the Burnt Core form, his range was a foot in all directions which while smaller than his original range was still a lot better than being right on his skin, the fainting, after use, was also lessened to merely not being able to move most of his body mostly out of stress he also experienced exhaustion, after use. this was the best he was going to get before the entrance exams as couldn't get any super power-ups suddenly without the need for outside assistance.
Atsui also needed to make a plan and study for the entrance exams, because even if he could turn all his robotic opponents into magma or ice Atsui could not risk the chance of something occurring, the study part was also annoying as while most questions on the test sheet were the simplest of will you or will you not it still had some actual questions that were relatively hard.
the plan for the robots was to go in and rapidly change the temperature to hot the cold so that all the materials become weak and brittle. but to get the best effect Atsui would need to be at the far end of the city away from people. while the plan was simple Atsui was more focused on the test sheet so he had come up with it in a few minutes and then focused on the history of the hero society. he also continued to train the Burnt Core form even if he made no progress

three days later
Toshinori headed to the beach the same as always because even if he had the exams today he was curious if the kid would spend a bit more time training that quirk of his, to his delight like always that black-haired shorty was training his quirk. the feeling of joy that All Might radiated the entirety of that day was due to the fact he found a worthy successor, All Might was also assuming that Atsui would accept in the first place.
Atsui on the other hand glistened in depression as he got through 70 percent of hero history the other thirty percent was what he was worried about. Atsui continued to train like always until a few minutes after All Might left, then Atsui left assuming the school would open soon since the big man left. the school was open as expected but very few students were there as it was 6 am when it opened.
Atsui wasn't in a rush he just made his way to his seat and then slept till it was time to wake up.

Atsui had awoken to a blue-haired engine yelling at him for sleeping and not paying attention which was solved by simply saying "I'll ask someone else" the blue motorcycle couldn't refute.
the test sheet was easy for the most part it was commonly asked what you'd do in a certain situation like if you found a stray cat what would you do or would you help an old woman cross the street. some questions were insanely difficult, like asking to give a summary of the original quirk theory which most people had never even read, unfortunately, Atsui spent his time well and studied like his life depended on it.
Atsui was not ready for the robot exams in any way, shape, or form because even if he prepared and had a decent plan, Murphy once said "everything will go wrong" and it was a fair opinion. Atsui also had to get to the other side of the city before anyone else which would be hard to do considering most people had increased agility because of their quirks.
the only other option was to blow up the zero pointer and get some hero points, Atsui hated the idea, it was just a stupid plan with a whole lot of room for failure but even with all that considered it was a good backup plan because it was guaranteed. while riding in the blue and white bus he had a small bit of time to think about all the things that could go wrong.
the list was limited due to Atsui's narrow mind only seeing certain things but that was almost instantly resolved when he remembered Starburst's nigh-infinite range of use and its sensing ability. an ability to attack anything from anywhere was strong, especially in a fight with large groups but the weakness of not being able to move was pretty decimating in the same situation. Atsui's plan only needed one more thing and that was someplace secure, the top of some random building would have to do.

right outside of the Battle Center B as it was named, Atsui had already activated Starburst and was already scouting out a place to hide while he assaulted the robots from above. Atsui had found a place and marked it with an ice trail so he could get there without getting lost.
"That's Against The Rules I Recommend You Stop Right This Moment" the blue bagpipes was shouting at Atsui to stop using his quirk.
"How is it against the rules" Atsui replied without caring that much about what was actually happening as he was still scoping out the map.
"Using Your Quirk Before The Exams Is Against The Rules" four eyes replied without any proof of what he was saying.
"none of the rules said mentioned that" Atsui had finished scoping the arena so he was slightly more focused than before but he was still not all there. the robot of the blues couldn't reply it was a fair point.
"Okay Start" the king of loud mouths yelled from the balcony he was perched on.
everyone went straight forward but Atsui decide to stick to the left wall because that was where his path was, it took only a minute or so to get to the roof where he would sit and only a few seconds to get Starburst active and bomb the Hell out of every robot still active gaining a whole lot of villain points and a few hero points accidentally.
it was going well till all of a sudden Atsui had the zero pointer be released right under him with no warning besides an earthquake he Couldn't even sense it because it was underground. due to being flung around, he wasn't in starburst form, which was annoying, to say the least.
the zero was going on a rampage destroying any building in its way, it was driving fear into all the super-powered teenagers running away from him.
while everything was crumbling, Atsui decided to just freeze it and reheat the Zero pointer bottom to top, he walked up to the robot, Jojo style, and just froze and warmed it till it became super brittle and just tapped the huge robot, causing it to just crumble from the rapid temperature changes. while Atsui was walking away the robot decided to explode causing the cool guys don't look at explosions experience to a more booming capacity.
"times up" it was a saving grace to anybody with a brain but not a lot of people had those nowadays. all that was left was waiting a week to get the letter that Atsui ever so dreaded.

any ideas on the use of his quirk maybe a bit of constructive criticism, some ideas in general, just wanna talk comment I respond to those
sorry for the slightly late upload I've been reading a whole lot of manga and watching some anime so I haven't been focused on this
