16. Adeline Back on Search

Adeline had returned on her journey when it was night. Before she was able to leave she had no choice but to tell Reuven everything she knew about where she was headed. If not so, she had read Reuven's mind and she was able to tell that he was not ready to let her leave alive.

So, Adeline was smart enough to tell Reuven everything she knew about the witch and since she could tell that there was a way that the werewolves were able to tell if a person lied. Such was the case when she was captured and tortured among them, one of them had been confident enough to tell the others that she said the truth.

Reuven was still yet to understand why the female vampire was not drinking human blood like the rest of her kind. Even though he tried to read her mind, he had not found any information as to why she declined in drinking human blood. But that does not matter as much to him. What he believed was that Adeline was not a threat to their existence. And that was okay to him.

This had not meant he had trusted her completely, he had made sure that he sent a spy among the bottom-ranked wolves who was a gamma wolf against her. But not to hurt her; rather, to watch her every move from a distance and report back to him if she dares inform her family about them.

Back in the cave, Reuven still thought about what the vampire had told him and he called his pack to assemble and informed them about the new era he thought had come to them.

To him, this was the time to stand up and not crawl. This was the time they would approach their enemies and wipe them from the face of the earth and their home will be established at the heart of the city and they will no longer fear the darkness that preyed on their existence.

"But how are we going to do this?" Roland asked.

Roland was one of the bottom-ranked wolves known as the gamma wolves. But this does not make the gamma wolves at the bottom rank among the wolves.

Among the gamma wolves, Roland was still the most bottom-ranked and the most inferior yet when he shapeshifted into a wolf, he was the tallest and the biggest of the wolves.

His type of wolf is the one with grey eyes. Though all gamma wolves in their form are commonly the biggest and the tallest and with grey eyes, Roland's grey eyes were more noticeable than the others of his rank.

Even when the gamma wolves were one of the bottom wolves, they were the ones that scared their prey the most.

When the gemma wolves are sent to hunt because they enjoy preying upon humans the most and certainly upon animals also when they want to eat. They begin to showcase their mightiness and force fear into what they prey upon.

And twice as greatly was Roland as the most bottom-ranked wolf in the gamma rank, he served as the first wolf in battle. By this, if the wolves battled against anything, he was the first to shapeshift and go into the fight. He was instructed to act as the leader.

These were all the tactics of Luka, the king of wolves.

Among the packs, there was only one zeta wolf and that was Luka. He was a ferocious and dangerous werewolf. He is one of a kind and he was in charge of leading every battle.

After Reuven, Luka was the next in rank. When there is a fight or the werewolves' territory has been invaded, he will howl to warn the others and also gather them into formation as they attack their enemies.

He is also the most vibrant of the beta wolves, the most intelligent as he specialised in strategy and coordination.

His special ability aside from intelligence includes speed. Luka was the fastest of the pack even faster than Reuven and equally as fast as a vampire. But this does not mean he is the strongest in terms of strength. The beta werewolves were stronger than him.

Luka also possesses superhuman agility. He can jump, climb, and react faster than humans, and beta wolves. Also accelerating healing, Luka healed the quickest from most injuries, almost at the level of Reuven. He is also partially immune to diseases and things that can kill a werewolf-like a wolfsbane.

"It is simple. We will shove your little prick into their ass." Luka teased.

Everyone started to laugh at Roland for his stupid question. They were werewolves and that kind of question was needless. He should have known when they are ready to fight in their numbers and nothing can be able to stop them from achieving their aim.

Roland in this strength could not have done anything but also laugh following everyone else as he thought of himself as stupid for such a silly question.

"Silence!" Reuven ordered.

There was now a conquering silence. Not even their slightest breath was noticeable. As they all paid attention to what the Alpha said.

"For so long we have squirrelled from light into darkness, hidden from the face of the earth and minded our safety but that is no longer what we shall do," Reuven announced as he started to pace around among the members of his pack and behind them and also to their faces.

"I listened to the vampire, and there is a loophole we will take advantage of. She said something about a witch to lift her curse and cure her of the limitation on her kind." He noted and continued.

"If we find the witch, we can find the way to kill every of her kind and finally have this city in our hands," Rueven said in his louder voice.

"Winifred is on the secret following of the blood sucker. Shortly, he will bring us news." Reuven concluded.

[howling noises of the wolves]

At this moment, even when they have not fully shapeshifted into their wolf form, they have half shifted into it. The uppermost part of their bodies was now of a wolf and the bottom part of their bodies remained human except Rueven who had not shapeshifted at all.

Adeline kept walking alone in the lonely wood. Everything was as silent as a graveyard except for her tender foot noises and small twigs that continued to snap against each of her steps.

Even so, Adeline had not been scared. Her vision was clear at night and she had not been pale nor was she hungry. She kept walking as if it were not her first time going through all those places.

It appeared now that she was getting closer to where she was headed. At this moment, she could hear the distant calling of her name.

'Come, come, yes, come Adeline."

But that has not been all she heard. She also heard her laughing hysterically.

Everything Adeline thought, the witch heard and she elated her wicked laugh louder but she had not spoken anything else than calling Adeline to come.
