24. The Wolf Spy Back Home

When Adeline was stabbed she definitely lost a lot of blood. It was obvious that she was no longer relevant as she became stock like stock fishes and did not breathe.

This was a call back home for Winifred as he finally hopped out of the tree with confidence and headed back to the greenery at his own maximum speed.

The hierarchy was in place and the packs were in conformity with Reuven's order. Thus was the evidence, the omegas who stood guard at the dry cave and others at the greenery hoping to blow the whistle upon any strange movement.

Also were the gammas who were in the exclusive order to bring in food from the forest. And all who were left in the greenery were the zeta, beta and the alpha himself.

But even the beta wolves were also answering to the Alpha's order by making a fire to roast the animals the gammas would prey upon.

And since they were done picking woods from the woodland, they set the woods and awaited the meats before they made the fire.

Only Luka and Reuven were left at the waters falling from the ridge as they dialogue; strategising over how they would dethrone the Vampires and they would become the rule.

This did not mean that Reuven was only talking and not doing anything else because he was thus ingesting meat at the moment.

It was indeed discourteous among the packs that when the alpha eats, any members of the packs share with him. It would only be meritorious when the alpha had invited the member to eat with him.

And even though Luka was the king of werewolves, Reuven's rule also involved him and he would not disrespect his alpha.

At this moment, the Gammas have returned from their responsibility and indeed brought in five animals for meat for the whole pack.

Such was the laughter that filled their mouths and Roland boosted about his tactics to hunt the biggest animal.

"I saw it drinking at the bank and I allowed it to satisfy itself before I forced him to satisfy me." He said while he burst into more loud laughter.

That was a funny joke among his rank members, they burst out laughing. But this did not go on for long. This time, their loud waves of laughter shrunk into the craziest silence as they glared at Winifred as he walked in.

This also made Reuven stop chattering and also stopped eating. He rose from his comfort and awaited Winifred to walk to him.

"Speak!" He commanded.

Only a gesture of his hand which beckoned every wolf to gather around him made every one of the pack gather round and those who were exempted were the omega wolves whom he had not invited.

Luka also stood nearest to Reuven and he listened. Same as the gamma and beta wolves.

"The bloodsucker only was for herself indeed." Winifred began.

"Tell me how everything happened," Reuven said.

"The bloodsucker was indeed headed through the forest, alone, and was nearer towards the east, when she was attacked." He said.

"Who attacked her?" Luka asked.

"What not who." He disproved.

"A creature which could cast fire from the mouth." He stated.

"A dragon? There has not been a dragon in Petra for a long time." Reuven clarified.

"No! Not a dragon but a giant bird with a horse head and a wing" He described.

"But that was not even all," He said.

At this moment, each of the wolves was confused about what Winifred claimed to have seen. They equally wore the confusion on their faces. For a moment, Reuven would believe that Winifred had swayed from his objective and brought him gibberish to cover his tracks.

But Winifred had a clear spying past with him. He would not of course have betrayed him easily.

"Tell me what else you see," Reuven spoke as Winifred had before paused and waited for him to give him the right to continue.

"There was another creature there who looked just like her. But faster and stronger. She defeated her in one attack." Winifred recounted.

"And another one, this one cannot be seen. I never saw what it looked like until the end when it stabbed her with his tail. It was a giant reptile." he proclaimed.

"But there is a problem. They all cannot see me but her," he informed.

"What do you mean they cannot see you?" one of the beta wolves asked.

"I mean those creatures walked just at my front and they could not even notice me." he clarified."

"What about the vampire?" Reuven asked.

"She's dead! They killed her." Winifred announced.

At this time, Reuven paused for a minute as much as he wanted to carry on with his ambition, he could not. He knew for sure that if anything was going to happen that would make them conquer the ancestral rule in Petra, he needed the bloodsucker and indeed needed the witch who would empower him even more.

"What do we do now Reuven?" One of the Beta wolves asked.

But even that had been a stupid question in Reuven's ear and when he indeed shouted back at him, none of his pack members was against Reuven barked at him.

"Can you not see I am trying to think or are you that dumb?" He shouted.

"What if we find these creatures and attack them?" Luka interrupted the unforgiving silence.

"If they cannot see the Omega, maybe they will see the betas and the zeta, and the alpha," Luka concluded.

"But that will only make these creatures go into war with us," Reuven complained.

"We will make a truce. A peace treaty in exchange to help their war with the vampires since they are the ones they are enemies with. After all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend." Luka explained.
