Affinity

I read the three artes over for the ninth time and I couldn't help but be surprised about what these artes did.

Immortal Origin is said to give you the foundation of an immortal. Rumors say it was written by a guy who ascended to the immortal realm and whatnot. I don't know how much of that is true but this arte opens your meridians from the beginning but it also opens the eight hidden meridians and the twelve divergent meridians.

This would help me have a far stronger foundation than most and make me undefeated in the same realm, let alone the same level but from what I have read I don't think anyone in the house has succeded in this arte, my father included.

The Codex of Eternal Night is an arte that all the top members of the clan use. Black Dragons are known to have the highest affinity with darkness of all the other clans even though the origins of black dragons are unknown, some say they came from the abyss while some say they came from the realm of eternal night. While it doesn't open my meridians from the beginning it increases my affinity with darkness and there is even a chance for me to glimpse into the laws of darkness, making my comprehension of the Dao of Darkness skyrocket.

While it was tempting it was not the arte I wanted to use but when I looked at the arte Astral Transcendence, I almost dropped the arte from complete disbelief and denial.

"There is no way! How can this be here? It's impossible!"

Astral Transcendence is an arte only exclusive to the Astral Plane. There is no way it should be here and it's clear that no one in the family knows the truth about this arte because if they did it would not be sitting on a shelf, it would be kept secret and only the top geniuses of the family would be able to see it.

This arte also unlocks the meridians at the very beginning including the eight hidden meridians and the twelve divergent meridians, but it also does 2 other things that make Immortal origin look like trash, the codex doesn't even deserve to be mentioned. It unlocks all seven of my chakras which will allow arcana to run through my body without having to enter Arcana Condensation and will also allow my organs, mind, and intellect to work at their pinnacle. It would also change the nature of my meridians to astral meridians. I've seen people with them in the past, I never knew what they exactly did but I did know that everyone wanted them, even the devils and angels weren't exempted.

Opening my chakras will also set a perfect foundation when I unlock my gates of absolution. I don't know exactly what they are but I remember 'him' saying that opening them was crucial if I wanted to reach the peak. While there were massive boons to gain from training this also came with a lot of risks, I was opening my twelve normal meridians early so the pain would be no laughing matter and that pain would be worse since I'm starting cultivation early but since I'm not even a human and about to evolve into an abyssal demon at that, the pain should not be that bad.

Steeling my resolve I took the manual of my choice and walked back to the entrance where my father and Zavier were talking to each other while waiting for me.

"Have you chosen?" My father asked with some relief showing in his eyes, it looks like Zavier was letting him have it but I knew what they were talking about wasn't about him kneeling but something serious.

I decided not to ask and just showed him what I picked and a look of shock and a hint of worry as he knew about the pain that will come with me training this but then again, what don't we do for power?

"Are you sure you want to do this? You will be opening your meridians at the very beginning and the pain that will come won't be easy, it might be even worse since you're starting cultivation earlier than most people."

"I'll be fine and why are you so scared, after all, we must all pay a price for power and little pain is completely fine."

I wasn't a masochist by any means but you guys don't know what you just let slip through your fingers. The gains far outweigh the benefits and if my evolution comes when I think it does then the nature of this arte could completely change.

"That's my boy, alright follow me we have to find out your affinity to the elements and your weapon. Master." My father said to Zavier before he bowed again.

I and Zavier looked at each other and shook our heads with helpless smiles on our faces, no matter how many times we tell him he still does it. Although I know deep down inside Zavier still appreciated it.

After we left my father took me to another room on the other side of the estate. He then led me to an elevator where he inscribed runes again. Afterward the door behind us opened and all I saw was a long tunnel with a faint light at the end.

"Follow me." He said as he led me down the tunnel. We reached the end after a few minutes and when we did all I saw was a clear crystal ball floating in the air.

He grabbed the ball and headed to me while he said "Just hold it in your hand and the ball will do the rest." He handed me the ball and I closed my eyes as I felt an energy flowing through me before going to my soul

The way they determine affinities seems more efficient in this era it seems. Affinities come from the soul so mine should be the same as my past life, while there could be some changes due to me having an abyssal soul but the changes should not be that serious.

The energy disappeared from my body and I looked at the crystal ball that showed a misty black, before turning into an ethereal light blue, then it turned into a transparent color, then a burning scarlet, and finally an electrifying blue.

I stood there in complete shock and fear. I wanted to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming but when I turned to my father and saw that he had the same look on his face I knew this was completely real

"Darkness, Time, Space, Fire and Lightning." My father slowly said and after taking a few minutes to comprehend what he has just seen he then turned and looked at me.

"Having Darkness and fire is normal due those being the 2 main affnites of our clan. While lightning is not common it has been seen a few times but time and space...these are very rare and complex daos that most people will never comprehend and to think that you have an affinity for them. The only people I've seen with such a high spiral affinity are the celestial and that is due to their racial talent. As for time, the amount of people who have comprehension in dao can only be counted on one hand as for affinity, you are the only one."

I just stood there and let him speak. Darkness, Fire, and Lightning were my affinities in my past life as for time and space, the only acceptable reason for them being affinities right now is probably because my insight into them was far too high to the point that they became affinities now.

"I know what you are thinking, if this was before I would've told you to hide your affinity from everyone...even your mother and brother but with the news Zavier told me, it might not even be necessary."
