When he opened his eyes once more, he immediately wanted to close them again when he saw a dazzling light. Although it was not as strong as the sun, it was still more blinding than the moon he was used to seeing in The Full Moon Land.
He heard people talking around him, but he was busy avoiding the blinding light and directed his eyes to scan his surroundings. The place was dominated by the color of his fur, and he didn't recognize the place at all.
Speaking of his fur, he wasn't even in his wolf form right now, so he couldn't compare which one was whiter between the room and his fur.
Glancing at his body, he noticed that he was in his human form as he lay on top of a soft bed.
'Am I really dead?' He asked inwardly, but of course, no one answered his curiosity.
Everything around him was not the same as what he was used to seeing in his world, and even the clothes worn by the people around him were different.
'Is it the other world that the shadow of the Moon Goddess spoke of?' He asked himself again after recalling his conversation with the woman who was similar to the Goddess and introduced herself as the shadow of the Goddess.
However, before he could come up with an answer, an unknown woman suddenly came to his side and grabbed his hand tightly. The next thing he heard from the woman was a whisper.
"Welcome back, Davel."
It was his name spoken by the woman, and he also could understand the language, but he ended up frowning because he didn't recognize the woman.
The strands on the woman's head were brown, and when Davel could see some of the wrinkles on her face, he knew that she was no longer young.
But, for some reason, he thought that the woman really took care of herself because she didn't look mushy even though she wasn't young anymore.
Still, Davel had no idea who the woman was, and he immediately withdrew his hand from her grasp. "Who are you?" He asked as he kept a wary expression on his face.
That was a common question asked by someone who didn't know who the other person was, but the woman flinched at his question.
"My dear Davel, you don't recognize your mother? I'm Heidi, and I'm your mother, Davel!"
Mother. Davel couldn't even remember the last time he used the word 'mother' to call a person.
Even when he was still in the form of a wolf before meeting the Moon Goddess a hundred years ago, he had no parents because they had long since died at the hands of the vampires back then.
Therefore, Davel looked surprised when the woman claimed to be his mother. "I don't have a mother," he answered flatly, not expecting his answer to make the woman cry hysterically.
A white-haired man then approached the crying woman and took her in his arms. The man had a pair of eyes that resembled the color of the ocean, and the orbs stared at him sadly. "You don't remember me either, Davel? I'm Ruben, and I'm your father!"
It was the same as when he heard the word 'mother' come out of the woman's lips, he also didn't react when he heard the word 'father.'
Davel also didn't recognize the two's names, and his cold expression didn't change even in the slightest.
Seeing how the young man didn't show any reaction, the husband and wife looked even sadder, and the woman even continued to cry in her husband's arms.
"Excuse me," another voice rang out, and Davel turned his gaze to the person who had just spoken.
She was a girl. Her long hair was like the color of the night, and her eyes were like soil during Summer.
Davel didn't recognize the girl either, and as the girl walked towards the bed he was lying on, he once again built an invisible fortress between him and the girl.
"Please don't panic. I will check the patient's condition first."
Davel could hear the girl speaking again, but he knew those words weren't directed at him. Instead, the woman wearing a strange white outfit was talking to two humans who claimed to be his parents.
"Yes, doctor. Please check our son's condition. He couldn't have amnesia from a heart attack, right?"
The woman who claimed to be his mother spoke again, but he didn't even understand what the woman was saying about him.
'Amnesia? Heart attack? What's that?' He didn't want to directly ask the people, and he could only wonder in his heart.
"We won't know until I check the patient's condition, madam. Please give me some time to check his condition," the young woman in the white outfit spoke again, and she did not get a verbal response from the two people this time.
The two people claimed to be Davel's parents, and the young woman in white smiled at them before turning towards Davel.
The warm smile was still on her beautiful face as she raised her hand and was about to touch his body, but Davel suddenly shouted, "Don't touch me!"
The scream broke the silence of the night, and the people in the room even stopped their activities because of the sudden shout.
The woman in white also looked surprised, but a warm smile returned to her face as she said, "Don't worry, sir. I'm a doctor, and I just want to check your condition. I won't harm you."
Doctor. Davel knew the term when he was still in his world. Even if a werewolf couldn't get sick, he still knew the word 'doctor' because there were several doctors in the human land.
He knew that doctors were kind-hearted people who would help sick people heal their ailments, and even a dying person could be saved by doctors.
Thus, Davel finally relented as he didn't say another word, non-verbally giving permission for the doctor to check on his condition.
The doctor was still faithful with her warm smile, and when her hand touched Davel's body, it was warm too.
