HARD MAN, HARD ABDOMEN

Lycia had been a doctor for several years, but this was the first time her patient didn't want to be touched by her.

The patients who came to her did have different backgrounds. Some of them were from ordinary families, but some of them were from tycoon families of high status that were so prestigious and special.

However, those patients never resisted her touch regardless of their status. They had come to the hospital seeking help from the doctors there, so of course, when the doctors reached out to check on their condition, they didn't refuse at all.

Because of that, Lycia was dumbfounded by the first refusal she received from the young man lying on the gurney. The patient was previously unconscious, even his parents were very panicked because of his condition.

But then the man suddenly opened his blue eyes, and he didn't look like someone who was on the verge of death at all. On the contrary, the man looked so energetic that he could scream to startle any living creature in the emergency room.

It was a very embarrassing refusal for Lycia, and she even thought that her hands might be dirty or something so the young man finally resisted her touch. However, she just changed her gloves, so it couldn't be the case.

After experiencing the first rejection, Lycia still smiled at the man as she explained who she was. And when the man heard the word doctor leave her lips, the man seemed calmer and didn't fight anymore.

'So, this man knows the profession of a doctor, but he doesn't know what a doctor is like? He's so funny,' Lycia laughed inwardly as she gestured for the nurse to help her check the patient's condition.

The nurse had finished working with the EKG, and the patient's heart rate was now displayed on the monitor. Lycia looked at the monitor, and she didn't find anything odd with the moving graphics.

She then turned her gaze to the patient again, and after muttering "excuse me," she then used her hand to open the patient's eyes more so that she could check the condition of the eyes.

Nothing out of the ordinary, and she motioned for the nurse to check the patient's temperature as well as blood pressure while continuing to check the patient's physical condition.

Her slender hands touched the patient's stomach, and she finally blushed when she felt how hard the stomach was. 'Is this guy an athlete or what? How can his stomach be this hard?' It was very unprofessional for her, but she couldn't help but wonder in her heart as she continued to check the condition of the stomach.

But then again, she couldn't find anything abnormal with her patient.

"The patient's temperature and blood pressure are normal, doctor. We did not find any problems with the patient's physical condition."

She could hear the nurse reporting to her, and even if she was feeling confused, she nodded her head as she pulled her hand from the man's stomach.

She could hear the man heaving a sigh of relief, and she raised her eyebrows, only to realize that the man was holding his breath for some unknown reason.

Choosing to ignore the man's strange attitude, Lycia turned to the patient's parents before saying, "I would like to speak with you about the patient's condition in private, sir and madam."

The parents looked worried at the doctor's words, and it was the man who asked the doctor, "Is my child's condition worse, doctor?"

Lycia could see the look of concern on the parent's faces, and she smiled as she replied, "I'll explain everything to you, sir. Please follow me to go outside."

The old man nodded in response, but before they could leave the emergency room with the young doctor, they could hear the young man on the gurney breaking the silence.

"Wait!" The three people stopped their movements and turned to the patient, and they could hear the patient continuing to speak, "Just tell me what's wrong with me here. I'm the patient, and I have the right to know about my condition, right?"

Lycia could understand the patient's worries, but she still remembered how the patient's mother told her that the patient had a heart disease that could endanger his life if he heard something that worried him.

That was why she wanted to talk to the patient's parents in private, but now that the patient's pair of blue eyes continued to stare at her intently, she knew that she couldn't say no to the patient.

Turning her head towards the patient's parents, she nonverbally asked for their opinion on the situation. The old man looked hesitant, but they nodded their heads anyway.

Heaving a sigh of relief, Lycia looked back at the patient as she began to explain, "Your physical condition is fine, sir. But seeing how you can't recognize your parents, it's quite worrying."

The patient carefully listened to her explanation, and he shifted his blue eyes away for a second before returning to the doctor again. "But, they really aren't my parents," the patient insisted while frowning at her.

Hearing how the patient resolutely answered her statement, the black-haired doctor felt bad as she glanced at the two people standing with her, who looked even more dejected after hearing their son's words.

"I can see that you don't recognize them as your parents, sir," Lycia spoke again as she focused on the young man again. "But, can you remember yourself? What's your name?"

Only now did Lycia ask that because she was focused on examining the man's physical condition just now, and she was patiently waiting for the patient's response before she could draw any conclusions about the situation.

"I remember myself, and my name is Davel."

But then Lycia looked confused because the man could remember himself and his name, but he failed to recognize his own parents.

Now Lycia was thinking about other possibilities as she turned to the couple standing beside her.
