Mr. CEO's Grandpa Is Warm

"Chairman Parker, good morning," Evelyn greeted.

"Chairman Parker?" The old man laughed, making Evelyn's cheek heat up. "Now, don't be so formal and call me grandpa."

This made her eyes widen yet feel welcomed at the same time. Seeing the old man look at her with anticipation in her eyes made Evelyn swallow the saliva.

Then, she proceeded to reluctantly and slowly enunciate, "G-Grandpa."

He smiled widely.

"Now, that's a good girl! Come, come, sit and eat. You must be starving."

She nodded with a smile.

And the weekend went by extremely well for Evelyn. For the first time, she had so much warmth in her life, and she could see that even though grandpa was busy, he tried his best to accompany her.

Although she didn't get to see Landon much, the small glimpses she got of the teenager was enough to satisfy. She did feel like a stalker with how her eyes kept following him around.

After that, with the weekend gone came the school days for her, and Evelyn dreaded it. Annalise would be sure to get her revenge, and the fear of that made it difficult for her to sleep.

It's not that she hadn't thought of bringing forward about the situation to Chairman Parker. She really considered it before brushing away the idea. He already did a lot for her.

She wasn't shameless enough to bother him with more.

On top of that, what if he considered her to be a burden and regretted his decision of taking her in?

No matter how kindly the old man acted to Evelyn, instead of providing her a sense of security, it only made her scared.

It was fine when she hadn't tasted warmth.

But now that she indulged in it, she was greedy; she didn't wish to lose it.

That's why, she silently comforted herself. It would be fine. She survived for fifteen years. How worse can it even get?

Convincing herself in this manner and hiding the distress from her expression, she headed to school the next day. The old man insisted on Evelyn taking the car, but she couldn't ride with Landon.

It would impact him negatively if seen, and rumors would spread. She didn't wish to bring further trouble to him.

When she entered the class that day, she realized that her table and chair was removed from its place. This got her to tightly clench on to the straps of her bag and look down. She couldn't face her classmates. They would break out into laughter if she did that.

Following that, Evelyn went to report to the homeroom teacher on her table and chair being missing. The teacher shot her an annoyed glance and waved her hand at Evelyn, dismissing her.

According to her, about these small disputes with classmates, she shouldn't bother the class teacher. There was no extra table and chair to be provided, and she should search for her previous one.

Apparently, she should apologize to her classmates because she might have upset them, and that will get them to reveal where the table and chair.

What could she say when the teacher ended the matter so simply?

Evelyn bitterly smiled before leaving.

What was she expecting?

Wasn't it always like this?

After that, she absentmindedly walked throughout the school campus only to find chair and table at back of the building, completely wet. She couldn't touch it with her bare hands due to how it was freezing.

Should she carry them to the class? The class had already started, and she would only get scolded.

Forget it.
