On the first Full moon of March, when the moon is at its highest peak, all unmated shifters must run into the woods from the Maverick and Sweetwater packs in search of a mate. Shifters chase down their fated mate and claim them under the moonlight.

For Asa, the run is the day he has been looking forward to all of his life. He is excited to be mated until an unfortunate encounter at the edge of the woods pushes him into peril. His life has turned upside down as he faces something he never thought he would, an injury and two shifters who want him. 

Chris didn't look forward to the run. As his last run, thankfully, he could finally melt back into obscurity. He just wants to make sure he gets out of the woods, unattached, and gets on with his life until he catches a light Lilac scent. Suddenly, he finds himself falling head over heels for his mate. His only goal now is to protect Asa, no matter what.

THE CHASE

Asa made his way to the room to see Felicity sitting up in bed. Chris and Xolo had sprinted here so fast, Asa had no idea what to do. They barred Asa from the home until Chris could be sure that no danger would befall them. 


He’d sent Asa to the healer instead, and Asa ran like the wind, hoping to get someone to help her. 


Once the healer arrived, she kicked everyone but Xolo out. 


Felicity’s pup was coming, faster than anyone expected. 


“Felicity, you drama queen,” Asa teased, his voice cracking. 


He wished his voice sounded lighter, but he couldn’t help it. He felt too afraid. Everything kept changing so fast, and he just knew that he’d walk in and his friend would be dead. 


“I get an ultimatum to leave the pack and you go into early labor?” Asa asked in disbelief, hoping the joking tone covered the fear in his voice. 


“I couldn’t let you upstage me,” Felicity said, a smile on her face before wincing as she rubbed her stomach.
