Chapter 34:The Angel You Don't Know (I)

AZRAEL'S POV

DRURY LANE, LONDON 10 YEARS AGO

For all of Mum's bluster, she was soft. That's all I'll remember her as.

And she wanted me to be soft, too. She'd be appalled to see how I turned out.

I hold the gun, trigger finger poised for action. From the side of my eye, I catch the glint of the embossed plate on the side of the pistol. Alejandro Simon Michigan. Not Azrael, of course. Nobody knows my first name is Azrael.

You have too many names, my brother told me just last week. Lucky boy, he didn't have more than one. Mateo. That's all he'd ever be.

All in all, the execution is swift. The man that just received a bullet from my gun melts to the ground. I dismiss him easilyI don't have time to dwell on his unfortunate death when I have places to be. I return into the house, determined strides taking me to my father's wing.

The man is sitting in the same spot I left him, but it's not hard to see how anxious he is.

"Did you get answers from him?"
