Chapter 33:The Angel You Change

"The police will come to receive our testimonies tomorrow. I don't know what that entails, but they might have our images for documentation. Does that bother you?"

Jason's shoulders lift on a careless shrug. "It doesn't mean anything to me."

I'm still restless. "But you can't want to leave such a precarious evidence behind, can you? What if it gets leaked somehow? Then the people who tried to kill you will find out you're still alive?"

He watches me from his place on my bed as I begin to pace. "You're worried about me."

"Of course, I'm worried. I don't want you dead."

He stands and comes to me, close enough that I have to tilt my head back to find his eyes. "I'm a terrible man, AJ. I don't deserve your worry."

I don't need him to tell me what he is or isn't. "I justI don't want to do this anymore, Jason."

He stills. "What are you talking about?"
