Another Invitation

"What will happen next? Does she know that Mr. Avery is here? But she doesn't seem bothered by his presence. Hm, maybe they had a quarrel?" Eleanor uttered in silence as if she was literally having a conversation with herself.

Greyson was still browsing the menu at the time, while Cassandra was serving the visitor behind him. He had no clue that the person he had gone looking for was only around the corner.

"One clubhouse sandwich with your preference of 30-second grilled breast of chicken on each side, white bread, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, omelet, and guacamole," Cassandra told her customer politely while transferring the plate from the tray to the table.

Her customer was a celebrity singer and she was a regular at the Secret Tavern. Cassandra would always go and serve her favorite clubhouse sandwich whenever she had the chance to dine in.

"Thanks, Cassandra. You really know me." The singer winked at her and happily began to eat her meal.

Cassandra was satisfied to bring the food to her customer, but the curve on her lips was erased when she saw Greyson behind her when she attempted to turn to go back to the counter.

"Greyson? W-What are you doing here?" She asked in shock.

"I should be the one asking you that. Why are you still working here? I thought we already had a deal. You're working for me, right?" He asked almost in a whisper since all the people present at the dining hall knew him and when he informed them Cassandra was his fiancee, the word soon spread throughout the entire nation.

She leaned forward to him when she saw that Eleanor and the others were watching out for her. "Look, Greyson, you should go now. I still have duties and I can't accommodate you just yet." Cassandra tried to ask him nicely.

However, Greyson left her clueless and went to where Mr. Harriet was. They talked for a couple of seconds and she saw that he was just nodding his head. After a while, she was surprised to see that Greyson came walking toward her once again with a smirk on his lips.

"I already talked to your supervisor and he allowed you to take the rest of the day off." He told her with a teasing tone.

"What? I can't take a day off. I still need to save up money. H-Hey, you don't unders–" Cassandra's line was cut off when Greyson just suddenly grabbed the tray in her hand and placed it on the free table near them, then he promptly pulled her hand to leave the restaurant.

While she was struggling to let her hand go, she took a glance at Eleanor who was now in shock but it was too obvious in her expression that she was cheering for her.

"What are they thinking?" She told herself when they finally got out of the restaurant.

Greyson opened the car door for her and let her get in while he immediately got inside the driver's seat.

"So, where do you wanna go? You are free for the day. You can take the rest of the day to rest and do nothing or you can tell me where you want to go." He casually told her as he looked at her in her eyes.

"It's already frustrating that people at work are talking about me and you. Acting as your "fiancee" is already a lot of work and I don't understand why you still have to go there and let them see us in public. Aren't you trying to be careful of your movements?" She asked him with her eyes squinted.

Greyson was taken aback by what she just said; he wasn't expecting that Cassandra would go off like that when the words that he would only want to hear from her were thank you. At the same time, he was also a bit irritated with himself for unconsciously going there.

"I don't know, my car drove itself on the way here. And I just want to see you before going home." He said without even thinking carefully and it was already too late to take it back because she already heard it as clear as day.

Her cheeks turned crimson red in an instant and didn't know exactly how she would react to it. The atmosphere was emitting awkwardness between them and they both became too silent that they could even hear the crickets

"L-let's just go somewhere peaceful. I want to relax after such a tiring day." She said in a bashful manner, so Greyson quickly started the engine and drove their way to the nearest beach.

No one dared to talk on their way to the beach, but the moment that Cassandra landed her bare feet on the sand, she couldn't help but enjoy the calm and soothing sound of the waves like she had just gotten back to her childhood where she didn't have to worry about anything at all.

"Do you really like going to the beach?" Greyson asked her with his hands in his pockets.

Very deep and long breathing came out of Cassandra's mouth as the wind was ruffling through her hair. She then slowly looked at him and smiled genuinely, a smile that was so different from the ones she gave him.

"I love going to beaches. It soothes my soul every time that salty breeze brushes against my skin, and it always gives me the strength to get back up stronger simply to hear the ocean waves." She said in an enthusiastic manner.

Greyson felt reluctant to tell Cassandra how beautiful she was with that sun setting behind her. That pale tint color of orange came with a cold breeze coming from the horizon which brushed on his skin.

"Cassandra, you have to go with me this Saturday for an important event." He just suddenly blurted out as he was amazed at how appealing she was at the moment.

He saw how her forehead slowly wrinkled at the thought and said, "I think that's not included with the contract, so I don't have to go with you. And besides, what is my purpose for going there in the first place?"

Greyson looked at the horizon and a faint curve on his lips was shown. "I know it's not included, but I just want you to be there with me. And you don't have the permission to ask why because I won't be answering either way." He firmly told Cassandra full authority.

She also couldn't grasp the situation, but Cassandra chose not to talk anymore. She was left with no choice but to agree with him since she knew that she couldn't get away with his annoyance.

"I'll see you, then." Those were the only words that she could utter after seeing the sincerity in his eyes.
