Guilt Trip

"Well, it is very sweet of you." Melissa smiled and hugged the flowers. "Daniel's father used to give me flowers every week."

The smile on her lips slowly faded away. Though it had been years, her heart ached with sorrow whenever she thought of Arthur.

Noticing the sadness in her eyes, Daniel quickly tried to cheer her up. He hugged her from behind and rested his chin on her shoulder. "I will get you flowers every week, okay? Different ones every week. I didn't know my beautiful mom liked flowers so much, otherwise, I would have done it sooner."

Melissa smiled and pulled his cheeks. “Isn’t my son the sweetest?”

“I am the sweetest.” He looked at Emma. “Right, Emma?”

The sly grin on his face made her feel very flustered. Was he teasing her right in front of his mother?

Instead of answering, she glared at him and he smirked at her in response.

"Let me put the flowers away and then I'll go back to cooking." Melissa looked at Daniel. "Why don't you take Emma for a tour?"
