Chapter 14: Training Begins!

Once at the estate, Elmon headed to the kitchen to tell the chef that he should prepare a large feast for nighttime to celebrate Rolem and Langris's success.

On the other side, Langris headed to his room to learn more about the system. More specifically, to learn more about the filial stat and about quests and how to get them.

"Well then," he said in a tired tone, "let's take a look at the tab,"

< Name: Langris Wranven >

< Level: 0 >

< HP 15/15 >

< Exp 55/100 >

< Strength 4>

< Agility 7 >

< Durability 5 >

< Stamina 4>

< Filial 1 >

< Stat Points 2 >

< ??? >

'Alright, let's start with how to get missions, is it something you get from the system or are you able to choose? From what I see, it's words that make different things appear. Alright then, show me the quests!'

< Quest: Train your breathing technique >

< Reward: 50 level exp >

< Progress: 0% >

'Mastery?' Langris asked himself, 'system, show me my mastery stats,'

Langris had understood that all he had to do was to tell the system what he wanted to see. This will make it easier for him to explore the system, rather than just waiting for the system to pop a message out occasionally.

< Breathing Mastery 1 >

< Filial Mastery 1 >

'This system has a lot of things that I don't know, I assume that Breathing Mastery is how well I control my breathing, and there is also Filial Mastery, so I guess the filial stat will be how effective and strong my attacks are... For now, I don't have any real attack, so it is better if I keep my 2 stats for now,'

*KNOCK KNOCK*

As he concentrated on the system, he was startled when he heard the knocking on his door.

"Come in!" He said.

When the door opened, he saw a beautiful middle-aged lady with brown hair walking through the door, it was his mother Finnea.

"Langris, Grandfather told me that you passed the exams!" She said calmly walking to Langris and sitting on the bed next to him.

"Yes I did mother, it was hard, but thankfully I passed!" Langris replied with a bright smile.

Finnea first looked at Langris with a tender smile, before giving him a warm hug.

"Are you ok Mother?" Langris asked confused on why she was suddenly so emotional.

"I'm proud of you Langris, you are resembling your father more and more," she said, "Choose your path, and don't let others decide who you will become, you are the master of your destiny,"

"Alright... is there anything wrong mom, are you ok?" Langris asked her.

"Don't worry, everyone's will be downstairs in the dining room in about 2 hours, we will be holding a large feast." she concluded before standing and heading for the door, "I will be waiting for you downstairs,"

She then left leaving Langris alone in his room once again.

'She has been acting weird lately, I don't know whether it's because she is worried since Alucard has never shown up for more than 10 years, or whether it's something else,' Langris thought with his hand on his chin.

'For now, let me try training on my breathing technique,'

He crossed his legs on his bed and closed his eyes. He placed both his hands on his knees and started to concentrate on his breathing.

Continuously, he inhaled and exhaled in a calm rhythmic manner. He could feel a rush going through his body from his head to his legs, to his arms. This rush that Langris could feel was the Zeal energy flowing along his body.

'From all the scrolls I have read, the best way to control Zeal energy is to focus it in one place, of the body, and control it by preventing it from going in any other place of the body. This way, I will be able to have a better grip on my Zeal energy... The best part of the body for a beginner is the stomach because the stomach has the highest concentration in the human body, so it will be easier for me to contain the energy,"

His body suddenly started to glow white, and a slight breeze started to spiral around Langris, and his body hair started to straighten. He had concentrated his energy in his stomach just like he wanted to, and was doing a great job.

'Now, all I have to do is concentrate, and contain the Zeal energy'

[Meanwhile in Dreyfus's chambers]*

Dreyfus was standing in front of the large windows watching the guards having a sparring match with his hands behind his back, while Tirinia was in the dressing room getting ready for dinner.

"Don't you think it's great that Rolem passed the exam with such a high score?" Finnea told Dreyfus while dressing.

"It isn't surprising at all that MY son passes the exams with a margin over everyone, after all, he is a Wranven," Dreyfus replied without looking away from the window.

"What is even more surprising is that the one you considered a disgrace to the family has passed the exam too,"

Dreyfus then turned his head to the dressing room, "Who are you talking about?"

"Don't be silly Dreyfus, I'm talking about Langris, he passed the exam with an average score too, apparently, he's been hiding his filial or something since the very start,"

Dreyfus then widened his eyes, and his jaw dropped when he heard what his wife had said.

"He couldn't have passed the exams, there is no way, he has no filial, I'm sure of it!!" Dreyfus roared punching through the window and breaking the glass.

He pressed his teeth together, and nerves started to pop out of his neck and forehead.

"I made sure he had no filial, so how on earth did he pass the exam?" Dreyfus whispered.

"What are you so angry about?" Tirinia asked coming out of the dressing room with a white robe, "aren't you suppose to be happy that your nephew isn't an actual disgrace?"

Dreyfus calmed down and gave out a deep sigh before regaining his previous expression.

"I was just startled that's all, if he has a filial, then it will naturally annoy me that he didn't tell us. I could've helped him to improve," Dreyfus said with a straight face.

"Well anyway, we should get to the dining room now, and tell someone to come and take care of the window for the third time in 10 days,"

[Back to Langris's room]

After one hour and a half of concentration, Langris felt a breakthrough in his body, and a large rush of energy and wind entered the room and spiraled around him causing him to levitate.

A few seconds later, he fell back on the bed looking at the ceiling with wide-open eyes, and a satisfied grin.

"That was quick!"
