Langris lifted both his fists in the air as a sign of joy, because he had passed the next level in less than a day.
"When I think about it," Langris whispered, "If it weren't for the combat training, all the scrolls I had read, and the small practices I was doing on the breathing technique, about then I probably wouldn't have gotten to level 2 this fast. At the end of the day, this training I have been doing was useful, because now, I know all the steps, and what I need to do is just put the steps into action. I'm very happy that I was able to train even if the benefits are showing several years after,"
As he was thinking, a message suddenly popped up in front of him.
< You are now level 1 >
< Level 1 >
< Exp 05/350 >
< Rewards: Health regen, 3 stat points >
'Health regen, what is that?' Langris asked himself before another message popped out.
< Health regen >
< Regen after 7 minutes without getting hit >
< HP regained per second: 0.5 >
< Automatically regenerates the user's health to its maximum percentage. Depending on the durability points of a person, the HP regained per second will increase >
'For now, I haven't been in any major battle, but once I will be in one, this ability will be very useful," Langris thought.
Before he could take care of the stats, he heard someone knocking at his door once again.
"Young lord, everyone is waiting for you at the dining table,"
It was one of the housemaids coming to remind Langris of the dinner.
"Oh, I completely forgot about it!" He exclaimed, "I'll be there in a minute!"
He got ready and immediately headed for the dining room where everyone including Dreyfus was seated waiting for Langris.
"You're finally here Langris!" Morlith exclaimed, "Hurry and sit down so we can start eating!"
On the dining table, there was only one place left, a seat between Rolem and Elmon, and in front of Dreyfus.
"Good evening everyone," Langris said waving his hand slightly before sitting down.
"We can now start the dinner!" Elmon said looking at one of the servants standing at the corner of the room.
The servant immediately entered the kitchen to bring the food.
"Where were you," Rolem asked Langris once he sat down.
"I was sleeping, the exams were very exhausting you know, not everyone is as strong and endurant as you!" Langris said jokingly.
"Well just be careful, because I feel like father is not in a great mood today," Rolem whispered at Langris, and they both slightly tilted their heads to look at Dreyfus.
"Don't worry, I've got this," Langris replied t him.
Meanwhile, in the dining room, the whole family was quiet, and Dreyfus was glaring at Langris as usual with deadly eyes.
"I heard you passed the combat test Langris," Dreyfus slowly said before taking a sip of his wine.
Langris decided not to answer, and keep quiet, he didn't need someone to ruin his mood this night.
"It's quite disrespectful to not answer your elders Langris..."
"Dreyfus, please, leave my son alone, he doesn't need your negative energy for the moment," Finnea replied to divert his attention to something else.
"I'm not doing anything wrong," Dreyfus told Finnea, "all I want is for him to answer my question, and at the moment, he is showing how disrespectful he is,"
"Yes, I passed the exam uncle," Langris replied.
Dreyfus took a sip of his wine once again and placed his cup on the table.
"So that means you have a filial?" Dreyfus this time had a deadly aura surrounding him which gave chills to everyone at the table.
"Yes I do have a filial, a Red tier filial, and I managed to pass the exams with 152 points," Langris decided that at this point, there was nothing to hide because grandfather Elmon had surely gone to get more information at school.
"You should've told your family about it, we would have helped you control your filial," Dreyfus then told him with the same disinterested smile.
"He is right Langris," Elmon said entering in the discussion, "you could have been way more powerful if you let us help you!"
For now, Langris considered that it was too early to tell them anything about the system, so he decided to lie.
"I prefer working on my filial alone, I don't need any of your help. I've gotten this far without any of you believing that I will become a Hallow Practitioner, so now that you know I have potential, you start saying that you can help me. Well, I'm sorry, but If I've gotten this far alone, then I can surely go further alone,"
Everyone stayed quiet and was surprised by Langris's response. He wasn't the type of person to go solo, and would always accept help if necessary, so hearing him say this was very surprising to the family.
"We understand and respect your decision Langris," Elmon said with a smile on his face, "If you need any help, however, we are here for you,"
"Oh, the food is finally here!" Tirinia exclaimed clapping her hands excitedly.
At the moment the food was served, a message popped in front of Langris.
< You are hungry, you must eat >
< Reward: 5 exp >
< Progress 0% >
'Finally, a daily quest!' His tummy started growling when he saw the nice and delicious plates presented to him.
[30 minutes later]
Langris was done with his dinner, and he was outside the entrance of the estate's door. He was seated on one of the many stairs looking at the stars in the sky.
"Hey Langris,"
He heard his name behind him, and turned around to see Rolem.
"What are you doing alone outside glaring at the stars like an idiot,"
Langris giggled and stood up before replying, "Don't you know that looking at the stars makes you think more?"
"I've never heard such of such foolish ways," Rolem exclaimed.
They both laughed it out, and later, a sudden silence surrounded the air.
"Langris, were you serious when you told us you didn't need anyone to succeed," Rolem suddenly asked.
They were both standing next one other under the black, motionless sky. A cool breeze blew over the two youngsters' faces, blowing their hair backwards. The setting intensified the seriousness of the scenario.
"Even if I let you help me, you wouldn't be able to understand or see what I know," Langris replied, "Of course I want help, if I didn't want any help, I wouldn't have sparred with you so much, but it's just that now, things are a bit complicated... You wouldn't understand even if I wanted to explain you,"
Rolem looked at Langris, and gave out a smile as if Langris was acting like a woman who's going through a complicated relationship.
"Are you talking about the blue portrait that keeps appearing in front of you everytime you are about to eat?"
