ELLIE
I was brushing my teeth when the sensation hit.
Vomit.
I gagged, and then it came. Right into the sink.
I gagged and puked again. Then again. I spit and spit to get the toothpaste out of my mouth then ran a damp toothbrush over my teeth to get the vomit out.
Finally, feeling clean but totally disgusting and terrible, I set my toothbrush back in its holder and met my eyes in the mirror.
I was no idiot. I knew what was happening.
Morning sickness. And apparently toothpaste was a trigger.
Perfect.
I looked down at my belly and lifted my shirt to see my exposed stomach. I ran my free hand over the slight bump there.
I was only a few weeks into this pregnancy, but already there was a bump. Vampire pregnancies were faster than human ones, but I’d still expected to be bump free until like month two or something. I probably should have asked someone more questions. Oh well.
I stared down at my smidge of a bump, and it hit me for the first time that there was a baby in there.
