Is that him?

I looked at Dani, unable to move. "Is that him?" Dani whispered without good reason.

"I really do not know," I shrieked. "Well then check your screen!" Dani encouraged me. "And then what, what should I say?" I gulped. "Pick-up already," she said louder. When I still did not move, Dani grabbed my phone off the side table.

"Melissa's phone, this is Dani speaking," Dani cheered as she eyed me. I bit my nails. "Mhh.. mhh,, yes," she said and rolled her eyes. "Uhuh…" she went on.

"Who is it?" I mouthed. Dani gestured for me to be quiet.

I blew out sharply. "Alright, here she is," said Dani smugly.

"Dean," I breathed. "Finally," Dean chuckled. "That friend of yours is some piece of work," he told me. I glanced at Dani and rolled my eyes. "Tell me about it," I mused.

"Darling listen, one of my staff is going to hand you a card," he began to say. His staff? "You can use for… well… everything really." He went on. What was he talking about? I remained quiet, unsure of what he meant.

It seemed Dean was not going to clear it up and I looked at Dani. "A card for everything," I repeated him. Dani's eyes grew big.

"Yes, to…. Carry around when you want to shop, or feel like going somewhere, or when the boys need something… I mean like toys, or like clothes," Dean summed up.

"If you want to go anywhere at all, you just have to call Michael. He is your assigned driver. You don't have to use it for food though, at least not when you are at home, because you can just ask your cook to do the grocery shopping for you."

"Dean, I-" I tried to say and Dean cut me off midsentence. "Darling I am completely aware that you can take care of yourself," he stated.

"Yes, and that is why this is completely ridiculous." I shook my head at Dani, but she all but smiled.

"Please don't fight me on this," he said in authority. I flinched.

"I am sorry princess, it's just that there is a lot going on right now and…. I am trying to convince my parents… and…"

"Convince your parents?" I frowned. So that Christal was right….

"Darling we will talk about that later, it will be alright," he promised me.

"But listen, the last thing I want to do right now, is have is a discussion with you about this. I need to know that you and the boys are safe and provided for, at all times."

"Dean we don't have to have this discussion. I can take care of myself and although you are being extremely caring and ridiculously sweet, I don't want this."

"Darling, if you will not do this for the boys… or for yourself, then please do this for me," he said. His voice became more gentle. "It will give me one less thing to worry about." He said, his voice sounding more even.

"Fine," I reluctantly answered. "I believe that Zion is enrolled in one of the best schools nearby and Edan will start at a good daycare on Monday," Dean continued to speak.

I shook my head, he was completely taking over my life.

"How long will I not see you…" I asked feeling hollow in the pit of my stomach. "I… will fly you and the boys over as soon as I can," he told me. "To come to you?" I shrieked. That would mean I would see his parents. wouldn't it be way early? Where was home? I still did not know.

"Yes," was the only thing he said.

"But that will take weeks…" I said, counting the dates of the tests. "I know princess, but that will also give me some time to…"

"We will talk about this another time, okay." Dean seemed to be in a hurry, rushing through his words.

"Okay," I murmured. "If it is any reinsurance to you my darling, I will be thinking of you night and day until the moment you are back in my arms again."

I smiled at his words. "I miss you already," I told him. Dean chuckled and told me goodbye.

I put the phone away and let my head back against the couch.

"I think Christal was right," I told her. "About?" she frowned. "His parents don't seem to approve of me, I think." Or I guess that was why he was trying to convince his parents…

I took one on the pillows from the couch and placed it before my eyes.

Dani peeled my fingers off the material. "Melissa, we don't live in the middle ages… what can his parents do if he chooses someone his parents don't approve of…" she offered.

"Parents can make your live miserable if they want to," I stated. That was the truth.

Dani held up her shoulders. "Did I hear that right… he is giving you a… card?!" Dani all but cheered.

I pouted my lips. I did not like her enthusiasm on that. I wasn't some kind of gold digger. And well, she was.

I blew out sharply when she continued to rant about all the things I should buy if it were up to her.

"Dani, I think I need to sleep," I told her. "I have a major head ache."

Dani left me to sleep and I tossed and turned when I was in bed. His side of the bed still smelled like him, so I decided to lay there.

Sleeping was no use, so I turned on the TV in de bedroom.

I couldn't concentrate on that either, so I went to see my mother and the boys. It was a pretty little cottage, but a whole lot more modern than mine was.

Dean had made sure my mother had all the new technological gears.

He hadn't been kidding when he said that he had a playroom for the boys there. It was again absolutely ridiculous. The boys were playing on one of the computer games together, and my mother was laying like a queen on her gigantic sofa, watching a movie.

"Hey mom and boys," I mused. "Dean called me," my mother said without greeting me. "Oh, did he…" I squeaked. "He will be out of the country for nine weeks he said." My mother eyed me suspiciously. I was quiet for a while.
