Greater force

"You believe in destiny?" Deimos spoke out of nowhere surprising her.

"I don't." She replied quickly to hide her surprise.

"Well. . .I do. And I am definite this was decided. Maybe the next time we meet, it'll be in different settings. But altogether it's the voice of my intuition that says we'll meet again in future." He stated promisingly. "So save your name for future!"

"I must say you're too smug about your intuition, mister. But future is such an uncertain place and you can never bet on it, can you?" She challenged.

"It is of course unseen but one must have faith because after all it is the unwavering faith that brings dreams into reality."

The rush inside Deimos was even faster, he was certain he was going to meet her, by hook or by crook. This woman he had just met has touched the part of his heart he never knew existed. And unbeknownst to him, there was a greater force bringing them together.

Selene smiled at his reply but on the inside, she was terrified of his will. She had never met a man who was hellbent on getting what he wanted.

"Then we should get back to our homes with our identities a secret. You move ahead with your work, I move ahead with mine and let destiny do its work, if it's fated then we might meet again." Selene restrained herself from talking further.

She was overwhelmed with his words and her inability to fathom the greater meaning behind his words made her give up.

"You're so eager to leave now, minutes before all you wanted to do was stay here and be left alone."

"Well. . . I think it is time I return back otherwise if they notice me missing, then everyone will go frenzy." She said as she lifted herself from the ground.

Deimos got up from the ground as well, his meeting with her was over but he wanted to stay longer with her. He wished if they could talk on about things forever like that.

"Aren't you just an ordinary person of the kingdom, I am certain nobody would notice you missing?" He remarked.

Selene couldn't form out any words for a second, amidst the hurry she forgot she introduced herself as the daughter of a merchant, of course no one would notice her missing. But before he gets any idea about her, she spoke.

"I am friends with the princess of Bellicus, if she notices my absence then everyone else will." With that she pulled her face away from him and begin walking in other direction.

"That's not the way you should be taking if you wish to reach Bellicus." He told her.

"I am going to Santok."

"That's not the way to Santok either. That's the way to Ardolf, the land of wolves." He finished.

"Oh!" She stopped in her tracks. "I've completely lost my way." She realized.

"Follow me." He said and began heading the way for her.

The forest was much darker than the cliffside. It was tougher for Selene to see anything at all. She was struggling her way through the forest, occasionally stepping on the wet mud or getting her gown stuck in the bushes. It was easier while she was running earlier but walking was such a mess for her.

Deimos who was heading the way, realized it as well. Many a times he would stop just for her to catch up to him.

"Here!" He said as he extended his hand, "take my hand, it'll be easier for you to walk then." He suggested.

"While I am struggling throughout my way, how are you able to locate things so easily?" She questioned out of curiosity.

"What do you expect from a spy? I have been taught this while I was training." He lied.

"Makes sense." She murmured.

"You're friends with the Princess, right? Did she bully you and you came all the way here just to cry?" He shifted as soon as the attention was on him.

"What would it take for you to not interfere in any of my business?"

"Maybe your name." He joked.

"Let's just continue walking, that's what's necessary right now!" Selene advised.

"This quiet walk through the forest is not helping me much. I would be glad if we talk as we walk."

"What in the world makes you think that I would agree to you just so you could be glad?"

"Don't do it for my sake. Do it for yourself, talking might keep you distracted from things you are worrying about."

"Maybe!" She muttered.

"So how is the princess like?" He repeated again.

"She is like any other girl." She answered discreetly.

"I have met the King a few times with my seniors but never actually met his entire family. So, I am not familiar with any of them." Deimos was bluffing and Selene had no idea.

She wondered if that's the reason why he didn't recognize her as Princess. It was more the reason for her to be relieved as she doesn't have to worry about her identity, she could easily pretend to be anyone.
