Ch 97: Dinner

Since it happened so fast, I can't be sure of that answer. Honestly, I couldn't fully observe what I saw Kai do because I was too focused on her. Furthermore, I am so confused as to why she said I woke up a monster. There is no such thing as a bloodthirsty monster! Therefore, I can't recall doing such a thing whenever it isn't feasible! She must have been referring to something else that doesn't even relate to me.

"Victoria!" Kai's voice took me out of my contemplation as I looked at him with an inert stare for the moment.

"It was my strange psychic curse. I saw a ghost..." I couldn't even gather anything else to say about her appearing to me like that. "She scared me, that was all."

I nuzzled into Kai's chest and then he petted my hair softly but his body felt tense. That loving affection he has been expressing to me since after we got married. Had now gone frigid as unseen black ice on the road.

Quite frankly, Kai's sudden change in demeanor was freaking me out. But I could tell he was doing his best to hold in his more crude nature. Honestly, I didn't understand this sudden change in him. It's not like I have full control over this curse. This is precisely why I wanna work and keep busy to maintain it.

He kissed my hair and then said. "Let's head to dinner, I'm sure eating will help you feel better."

He gave me a thin smile as I nodded in agreement. Right now I wasn't brave enough to even question him. I followed him to the living room where we found Rome and Jack standing up from the couch. Since when did they re-enter the room? They must've come in while I was getting ready.

"Is everything alright?" Rome asked looking more towards Kai before he glanced at me.

"Yeah, she's good," replies Kai. "You guys can take a break while Victoria and I are at dinner."

"Alright then," said Jack before he weirdly winked at me. Surely that was the indication he had my pills.

Kai nodded, "Let's head out."

"W-wait," I erroneously stuttered which caused Kai to look at me strangely. "Uh..."

"Oh, yeah, I forget I picked up Victoria's vitamins," Jack spared me from clarifying. "You guys head out, I'll just explain the directions to her."

I nodded at Kai while trying to put up a cool smile like nothing was going on. Kai stared off at me so it was difficult to tell if he was buying Jack's excuse or not.

"Alright, Rome and I will be in the hallway," Kai said, believing what Jack told him. I felt a huge relief whenever they left and closed the door behind them.

"Thank you, Jack." I breathed a sigh of relief.

Jack chuckled, "Take it easy Victoria. Kai's stubborn but he's not that bad." He pulled out this discolored see-through brown bottle with some pills inside. "Take two now and then one for the next five days and then repeat the last step the following week," Jack explained but it didn't seem right.

"That many?" I questioned him since it seemed off. "Isn't that taking too much?"

"I talked with a doctor and I was told you take two now and one for five days. He gave you enough for your two-week honeymoon." Jack exclaimed.

"I just thought I'd only take it once a day for the time Kai and I have sex," I said taking the bottle.

Jack lightly chuckled, "I'm pretty sure when you're not sightseeing. You and Kai are going to be having a lot of sex between those hours."

"Fair point," I rolled my eyes, saying.

After my discussion with Jack, I took two pills and then left the room. Jack and Rome went off in a different direction from us. Once in the elevator, he pressed the button to the 57th floor where we got off.

Then he took me to this fancy restaurant from inside the hotel. The whole atmosphere was set up so romantically. Kai gave our names and then we were taken back to this private room with a beautiful view of the beach. Now the sun was setting with this beautiful purple tint mixed with the sparkling rays. The sight was unbelievably beautiful.

Kai pulled out my chair at this round table dressed in a red tablecloth with a small vase holding freshly cut red roses in it. This light violin music is played to enhance the romance. Nobody else was in the room aside from this beautiful waitress with ashy blonde hair and a cute diamond face. With a big smile, she came over after the manager left once we sat down.

"Hello, my name is Tracy," she greeted sweetly, beaming at Kai. "Your requested meals will be out shortly. In the meantime, may I get you some refreshments?"

Never once did her eyes leave Kai. Those pretty long lashes batted at him as if I'm not here. She pretty much acted like I didn't exist.

Although I can't blame her for checking him out. He looked dashing in his Gothic-style suit with a pocket chain on his left leg. He had no tie but his black collar and cuffs were smoothed out neatly.

"Your finest red wine," Kai said soothingly as she wrote it down. "Then I want the freshest ruby bottle recently poured."

Both she and I gawked at him oddly.

"I'm sorry, sir, but I've never heard of a ruby bottle," Tracy said, perplexed.

"Speak with your manager!" Kai said with this sharp tone.

I could tell Tracy was taken aback by it but she held her composure. "I'll do that. Is there anything else?"

"No," Kai ignorantly responded.

"I'll take some water... Uh..." Tracy completely ignored me and walked off as I was speaking. She even flicked her hair ignorantly at me before she left.

"Do you think she heard me?" I asked, looking at Kai who didn't seem to be paying attention from staring at the bay.

"I'm sure she did," Kai brushed it off like he wasn't concerned and asked, smiling at me. "So tell me what would you like to do tomorrow?"

"I wanna go to the beach," I happily said. "If you can handle the crowds, maybe we could check out the markets."

"Only for you I'll do whatever you wish," Kai lightly laughed.

Before I could answer, Tracy returned with a man carrying an ice bucket stand. Of course, I noticed Tracy didn't have my water. She only had two bottles and two empty stem glasses on her tray.
