Ch 109: Losing Control

Aimed on his balcony that was just below him. Kai jumped down from the roof and landed soundlessly on his shoes. He quietly opened the doors and saw Victoria wasn't in bed.

A dim light from the bathroom door shined through the bottom crack on the carpet. His excellent perception could hear Victoria fiddling around with something that sounded like a plastic wrapper.

Just when Kai was nearing to knock on the door. The smell of blood caught his nose. His eyes instantly dilated into red gems. Without any control, his upper fangs grew into deadly sharp pointed canines. The awareness that Victoria is his mate was tossed out the window from his killer instincts taking over. Kai reached for the doorknob until he hissed lowly at himself. He took a step back from fighting his instincts to feed on her.

"I gotta get out here..." Kai whispered disturbed by how he was thinking.

Suddenly, the smell of blood got stronger! Kai was about to lose it.

At that precise moment when he was lurking back to the bathroom door. Ivan and Ace came hurrying in from the balcony's open glass doors. They knew right away that something was wrong from overhearing Kai hissing softly more than once.

Merely in time, Ace pulled Kai away from reaching the doorknob. Kai's angelic face turned into that true monstrous form he is. He lowly growled at Ace for stopping him. Then just as quickly he came to his senses and took off in his shadow form through the balcony's open glass doors.

As an eerie shadow, he took himself to the far edge of the woods, and planted his solid shoes on a thick high tree branch. He huffed and puffed like a beast snorting. And his fingertips clawed down the tree truck when he dug into it.

Landing in the same tree, on different angled branches. Ivan and Ace came to his aid rather quickly, "It's alright, Kai."

"I almost killed her!" Kai snapped, feeling disgusted with himself for losing so much composure.

"You didn't though," Ace tried praising. "You've gotten so much better compared to when you first woke up. Lately, you've been wearing your sunglasses less. For having a human mate, you've been doing very well with Victoria. You even bought her that pregnant horse."

"That's because horses are useful creatures," Kai hissed!

He deeply breathed while he felt horrible. Yet he felt heartbroken to know Victoria wasn't pregnant after starting her cycle.

"She's not pregnant," he muttered to himself.

"Well, now you know," Ivan answered him anyway.

"I can't be around her without hurting her," Kai declared in a dreadful voice.

But Ace still tried to be uplifting. "It's fine Kai, will say you had to leave for a sudden business trip. With more time, you'll get better at being around her when she's on her cycle."

"Yeah, I believe you just convinced yourself that she was pregnant. This only threw you off for a second," said Ivan, trying to be helpful.

"I need to hunt," Kai stressed, so they called a few available clan members to do just that.

Once everyone coming to hunt gathered in the woods, Jack proposed. "Let's head east so Kai doesn't mistakenly eat Victoria's pregnant horse."

"Good call," Glenn agreed to see Kai was nearing a frenzy up in the tree above his head. There was no doubt if they went anywhere near Victoria's horse, Kai would kill it without having any regard to stop.

Three days later, Kai was in his father's office while Victoria wasn't home. He was on a laptop mentally processing tons of information about this strange world he had woken up to. Just because Kai seemed clueless about some of the strange technology, medical procedures, building structure, and so forth. Did not mean he was an idiot. He was still only retaining knowledge.

The main problem Kai faced was this technology, human history, store departments, automobiles, the media, and so much more. Was just too human for him to care about it. He could wipe out the whole planet clean from these human pests that keep creating havoc on it. Is the way his mind worked.

But seeing how Victoria insults his ego because of his lack of knowledge in this new age she is growing up in. Kai is kinda given no choice but to educate himself on the human level to keep up with her.

Mr. Collin came in quietly to observe him taking in tons of human information. Lately, he and Kai have been at each other's throats because firstly, Kai killed Tracy. Secondly, Kai killed a potential business partner whenever he possessed that horse to kill Hector. Although Kai confessed he didn't plan on killing Hector there at the stall. It just came as a convenience for him to get it over with.

Just to spare the innocent horse from being euthanized. Mr. Collin even bought that horse and put it on a farm he owned.

"If you're here to nag me about Hector and Tracy. You should already know I don't care. Hector assaulted my wife and Tracy was rude to her. And she stupidly thought I'd cheat on my wife like those other men she's seduced. Therefore you should be happy that I cleaned up your business from harlots like her. And you should know I won't tolerate anybody messing with my mate," Kai bitterly scoffed without looking up from the screen.

"No, Kai, even if I don't agree with your methods in dealing with a situation. I've come to terms that you did what you felt was necessary for your mate." Mr. Collin said, taking a seat across his desk since Kai was occupying the chair at his front desk. "I've come in to check on you."

Regardless if the father and offspring pair bickered and fought a lot. Kai was still Mr. Collin's offspring and he loved his son dearly. He knew Kai had a high ego and he wasn't himself because Victoria didn't love him.

Mentally, Kai was suffering from not having her heart. Which caused Kai to be more aggressive and impulsive. Mr. Collin could recall eons ago before Kai went crazy from not finding his mate. He didn't act this grumpy and rude. Sure Kai was still ruthless to his enemies and prey but he wasn't unhappy.

Victoria needs to love Kai back for him to be himself again, Mr. Collin sadly thought. Yet Mr. Collin only had himself to blame for allowing Victoria to fall in love with Orlando Mill.

"Hmm," Kai carelessly hummed. "How's Victoria feeling?"

"Much better after she was in bed for two days," replied Mr. Collin before pausing in silence. "You know she's been asking about you?"

Only Kai's eyes veered up from the screen, glaring in disbelief that she'd ask about him.
