Chapter 6

Robert finally arrived home and was now in his front yard pacing up and down the sidewalk wondering about all the incredible events which had surpassed. It was more than he wanted to think about but he had to figure out just who he was. He knew he was

an outcast but thankfully, it didn't show. He was now a man and

a man without a goal. Deep inside him was the irrepressible need to bond and Robert continued to rebel. He was rebelling against something stronger than desire. He was rebelling against a cerebral command. The command was not growing stronger, but it demanded Robert's constant attention. Not a difficult task for Robert as he was achieving greater and greater powers of the

mind. He was learning to entertain several thoughts at the same time but he preferred to stay with one; The one thought that

has always been in his mind in one form or another. The question he had always asked: 'What will I do with my life? I Robert decided to go someplace where he was sure not to be bothered. He walked several blocks away from the downtown area and entered a large drainage pipeline. He walked, bent over for a hundred feet

or so and sat down, leaning against the concrete wall. He closed his eyes and entered his mind, intending to stay in that spot until all of his questions were answered.

At the beginning of his mind, there was easy access. This was the area he called upon to use his simplest abilities such

as instilling, reading or showing his or other people's thoughts.

He stayed there awhile and considered all that he knew, especially the possibility that he had not seen the last of the Delta Foundation or its counterparts.

Robert now entered the second level of his mind. There

are many levels of thought in this level. Robert refers to

them as rooms. He can simple choose the area he wishes to understand

and enter knowing all in a matter of moments. Robert browsed around

until he located the room of science and technology. He absorbs all

the information. He got more than

he bargained for. Not only did he now understand all modern science,

but great scientific knowledge unknown to the world.

He immediately realized that he could now construct robots

like the one Samuel had built and better yet, he now had the knowledge

to build a spacecraft of his own. This was an exciting discovery for

Robert, but what would he do with a space craft? There was no where he

could hide on Earth. His newly acquired knowledge let him know that it

was not possible to reach another planet suitable for human life. But

he was only on the second level. Maybe he could discover more as he

went deeper. The nearest solar system was ten light years away. If

Robert could discover some way to exceed the speed of light, maybe

just maybe, he could discover another planet like earth.

Robert had never seen the third level and as he began

his journey, he found that it was much deeper than he had thought. He

followed passage after passage, corning to forks and having

to choose which one to take. The tunnels were a bright red

Power Mind-Reis pg. 31

in color with nerve endings all about the outer side. Robert suddenly realized that he might be in a maze. He had memorized all of the passages he had taken but he was suddenly hit with the chill of fear as claustrophobia set in. This was not a material world. He may not be able to find his way out. If he became trapped in a maze, he could easily fall into a coma. He had just passed a fork only a short distance back so he back tracked until he found it, but it wasn't there. The passages were changing all the time and Robert was desperately confused. He immediately began his withdrawal. He was traveling quickly and praying that the second level would only be around the

next bend.

Robert searched for hours, growing frantic and becoming angry

with himself. He became so angry that it overcame his fear.

After seven hours of searching, fortune fell his way.

He found the second level and immediately withdrew from his mind only

to find his body shaking in fear.

Robert felt that there was a third level and more. He knew there

were no limits to infinity. He just needed: help to reach those levels and he knew of a possibility to gain that help. The scientific knowledge was all he really needed right now and in his spare time; he would try to visit all

the other rooms and learn all he could about the world in which he

lived.

Robert sat there in the tunnel and formulated all his

new information. He then finalized his thoughts and set a new goal to

find a place where he and his wife could live in peace.

Robert realized that there was danger involved in attaining the

third level, but there was also the danger of getting shot in the

back. He had to pursue his ultimate goal. Robert left

the tunnel and reached home in time for supper.

His grandparents couldn't figure out why he was acting

so mature. At first, they were very upset about him quitting school

and Robert couldn't ease their feelings so he gave them the feeling

that he didn't need to finish school.

Robert's new car was a corvette and he was having it modified to be able to reach 175 mph. Robert wanted the edge if it ever came down to a race. He also bought a nice three bedroom brick home several miles from his home town. The house was set back from the highway about one hundred yards. Robert had an iron fence built in front of it with a remote control security gate at the entrance. The other three sides of the home were surrounded by shelter belts. Robert furnished the home, using two of the bedrooms as office space. Beside the home, Robert contracted to have an airplane hangar built with a large adjoining building.

Tonight was Robert's last night with his grandparents.

He would be moving into his new house and beginning his secret

project. Robert asked his grandparents to sit down on the couch and

Robert sat down between them and said: "I'm going to tell you both a

story and while I tell it I want you both to hold

my hands and close your eyes." They were both curious, but

they went along with it. They each held his hand and closed

their eyes and Robert began. "Once upon a time, there was a

young boy named Darian. He was only seven years old. One day

he was out in his front yard watching a family move in next

door when out of the house there appeared a sweet young girl named

Ellen. She approached the young boy and they began to

talk. The girl was very talkative but the boy was shy. They went into the boy's backyard and played for hours. While they played, each of the two were noticing a fond attraction toward the other. The little girl walked into some bushes and the boy followed.

The girl turned and said: "Kiss me" in her own sweet little voice.

They kissed".

With Robert's help, both of his grandparents suddenly felt as they did when that special moment actually occurred in their lives. It was a beautiful feeling for both of them and after indulging in the pleasure, they both stared at Robert. Robert's grandfather, Darian, spoke: "How did you know that? Why did I suddenly remember how I felt?"

"I am gifted grandfather. I cannot tell you anymore than that. I

just wanted to leave you both with something special to remember. His

grandmother, Ellen, spoke: "Are you going somewhere?"

"Yes, I bought a house out in the country and I'm going to live

there." His grandfather stood up and put his hands in his pockets and

said: "How could you possible buy a house and

whose car is that your driving?"

"A friend gave me the money for the house and the car."

Darian looked suspicious. Robert got up and retrieved the black bag, opening it for his grandparents to see. "I've counted around fifteen million." Both of his grandparents were very astonished. Darian spoke with concern. "You say a friend gave you all of this. And did he also give you your gift that you are so secretive about?" His grandfather sat down beside Robert and said: "Come now Robert. You can trust us. Tell us what's going on."

"I will tell you. But only the general theme. The less you know,

the safer you will be."

"Robert, are you in trouble?" Darian took his hand and held it

gently.

"It's nothing I can't handle but there's a possibility of danger. That is one of the reasons I must move out on my own. To draw any of the danger away from you two."

"Who is after you?"

"Unknown people, who have discovered the gift that an old man

named Samuel, gave to me."

"What exactly is your gift and how did they find out?"

"I can't tell you about my gift. Most of it is still a secret known only to myself and telling you would only make you a target. They found out with the aid of psychics and I don't know how

many psychics there are or how many people might be seeking my gift. Don't worry about me too much, grandfather and grandmother.

I have great powers that protect me from almost any danger. Would you like an example?" Darian turned away from Robert and rubbed his chin in silent contemplation. All was silent with the three of them sitting there, each of them thinking to themselves. Darian spoke first: "There's no need for examples, Robert. You have surely changed these past few weeks and no one could have known about my and your grandmother's first kiss." Ellen smiled and then blushed a little. "We will take your word, said Darian, and we will help you in any way we can but you must tell us what it is that you are after."

"1 seek a family grandfather. And peace and serenity from all

adversaries." Ellen spoke: "Is there anything we can do for you now or

later?"

"1 need only your comfort." Ellen gave him a hug and then he and

Darian shook hands and Darian said: "May God go with you my son."

Robert started for the door and Ellen spoke as he was leaving. "Thanks

for the beautiful memory, Robert."

"Your most graciously welcomed."

Robert arrived at his home in the country and the next morning he

got up and walked out to the hangar and into the adjoining building, admiring the carpenters as they placed their finishing touches on his new laboratory. There were no windows, just benches along the walls and outlets of varying voltage.

The laboratory was almost as big as the hanger. The hanger was 100 x

100 ft. and the lab was 75 x 75 ft. Robert was proud of his

achievement so far and now it was time for him to begin an

Power Mind-Reis pg. 36

enormous shopping spree.

So far, there was no sign of anyone following him but he

wasn't convinced it would last.
