Chapter 11: Getting the Heartrate Up

The room erupted with murmurs and arguments, a dull hum in the back of my mind.

“The entire force would be under scrutiny,” one detective argued.

“We can’t just let these wolves murder humans. They’ve been getting away with it too long!”

“This is our city. We need to fight to keep our people safe.”

“Yes, but pointing fingers at the wolves won’t keep anyone safe. It could easily escalate into a war.”

“We outnumber the wolves a ten to one!”

“Only if other packs don’t get involved. Do we really want to start a world war over a few dead girls?”

“This is clearly a pattern.”

I hung my head and sighed. The detectives were just getting more and more riled up. Half of them were willing to declare war on all the packs right now.

“Settle down, everyone,” Captain Carson boomed, his voice like a clap of thunder that knocked the detectives back into their seats. “We have a residential expert to help guide us.”
