Derrick's Past Life 3

"Stop crying, am here to check up on you, because of your mother's request" due to him hardly speaking his voice was rough and he wasn't speaking the language he was fluent in.

"Should we go out?" Shadow asked with a smile, but the smile looked scary, due to the fact he hardly smiled, "Bad man, am not going anywhere with you" Li Fei screamed crying, the teacher came out stared at Shadow a bit, before taking her back to class.

Shadow found the whole situation funny, she was a smart girl, he thought, Shadow kept on visiting the girl each day in school, trying to get closer and to know her better, with each passing day he grew fond of the girl, which reminded him of himself in the past at the orphanage, his parents died on a car crash and he was taken to an orphanage, but he decided to take care of Li Fei, and so their relationship grew during the few period they spent together, he was finally called by Blade that they had a new mission, he told Li Fei he would be coming back for her, that he had work to do.

He went back to base, and there Blade was waiting "Where have you been this past 2 months?" Blade asked with a frown.

Shadow kept quiet only shaking his head, "Are you deaf? I asked you a question, Where have you been?" Blade voice reverberated, after he raised it at Shadow, he face was showing how angry he was.

Shadow spoke to Blade after a very long time "Am I not allowed to go out anymore?" Shadow asked while staring at nothing, "Oh I see you have grown wings, forget about it, let's focus on the mission, we are going to war" Blade spoke in a very nonchalant tone.

"War? what are assassins doing in a war?" Shadow asked confused, "It seems I need to jog your memory we are both assassins and mercenaries, we would be acting as mercenaries, we would be going to Africa, our job is to assist the rebels until they can escape safely" Blade said while sitting sipping his red wine, it looks like blood in the eyes of Shadow and it fits his menacing look perfectly.

"Rebels? aren't we assisting the country?" Shadow asked confused, "The moment you open your mouth you don't want to stop, shut your trap and do your job, these are our orders, we leave in two days"

Shadow nodded and left in order to prepare for the journey, this mission this time need guns and alot of it, he wasn't prepared to die now, after finding someone he can live for.

The time came and they left for Africa, the war was already in full swing and the rebels were being pushed back, additional two men didn't raise their morale and the men were even hidden with masks and not even showing their faces to allies, there was distrust amongst them.

"We would be helping in creating a part way for you to escape the country, that's our mission, you won't be able to overturn the tide of the war" Blade spoke without any error or any fear in his voice.

"Why should we trust you? and how are you gonna create an escape route for us with just you two?" one of the rebels which looked like the leader asked feeling really disappointed and angry "We asked for reinforcement, we got only two suicide hooded fools"

"Watch your tongue, this is a war where you expecting an army as a reinforcement?" Blade fired back, the leader of the rebels shut his mouth but didn't agree with Blade and continued with the war.

The war continued, it was brutal, bullets were flying left and right shortening the rebels more, due to the trainings of Blade and Shadow, they killed alot of soldiers, while also saving their necks, but the overwhelming numbers and strength of the soldiers made the rebels retreat and finally, the leader of the rebels bowed his head and asked Blade his plan.

"We just have to get out of the encampment, and get to the sea, we have ships stationed to assist our escape, now we need to confuse the armies" Blade said then left with Shadow when midnight came, "Shadow we are going to place bombs without getting detected all over enemy territory, don't die on me kid" Blade said that and left, the whole plan took about a week, in order to make everything perfect they needed to escape and continue another night, and when the day came, enemy camp was lighting up like fireworks, this gave the rebels an opportunity to push through the encampment and escape, but that wasn't the end, getting to the sea was another problem, they were small scuffles of chase during the way, but they usually shake the pursuers off, the whole mission took more than 3 months until they finally escaped and got to the sea, they bid the rebels farewell and departed. Shadow couldn't wait to leave and go back to Beijing to see his cute little Li Fei.
