Midnight clash.

Jake watched his sister take a glass and pour milk into it. The long roundish table was all full of delicacies. No one was to start devouring anything since the head was absent but Mae ignored the boring rule and drank the milk like water.

"What! My hunger can't wait!" She smiled as she wiped the droplet on the corner of her mouth.

Tonight the Governor had invited some of his popular friends over for dinner. The table was going to be full soon.

"Mae," Jake whispered. Mae leaned abit as she set her ears onto his lips as he whispered. "We are going to US tomorrow!" Jake leaked the surprise.

"WHAAAT!" Mae freaked out frightening her mother who asked, "What is the problem?"

Jake had not expected her to freak out like that, it sounded like it did displease her.

"Mom?..." Mae wanted to start a complain immediately but Jake knocked her knees with his under the table, he even stepped on her foot!

"Hey!" Mae scolded him as she understood what he meant by doing so.

Thirty minutes ticked and the first guest accompanied by Katumo was welcomed for dinner.

"This is Harrison Wark. He is from Australia a great business man! Welcome the executive Manager of Magru group!" Katumo exclaimed happily as he led him to the seat beside him.

"Thank you so much." Harrison said greeting his hosts.

'That voice is familiar.' Mae tried to conjecture the voice and the person. She was sure that voice was the same as someone she had met. A cold husky voice that one couldn't make out the tone.

She secretly studied Harrison who was now chatting happily with her father as more guests came in.

She soon forgot about Harrison as she had to welcome the guests.

The room was busy and noisy as even Mrs. Katumo met a couple of her friends and got absorbed like her father. Jake had long left the table to guide some guests too.

It was at this moment when she was least busy, studying the people in the room especially Harrison when she felt a light pat on her shoulder.

She turned around in an instinctual way only to face someone she had long feared. "Jane!"

Jane stood behind her smiling. She worn this pair over dowdy suit that exposed her intimidating figure. "Hello Mae, we meet again." She said without a hint of threat.

"Oh. No need to avoid me, I'm here to celebrate this last supper. I know you be leaving to the US." She smiled as she picked a glass of wine from a platter nearby.

"Why don't we have a talk." She said smiling again. Something about this smile sent goosebumps in her, she felt uneasy as she led her to a table at the corner, of course she was the one who suggested to talk over at that table since it over looked the room.

"Mae?" She had to tap her again as the girl was now dumb. "I said I just want to talk. You can trust me." She said smiling again. Last time she trusted her only to end up in a trap. How could she trust her again. "I can't trust you." Mae opened out her will, "I will call the guards." Mae could feel her voice tremble as she tried to maintain a normal breath.

"Don't think about it." Jane said as she directed her to look at her brother. "If you dare, he will die."

Jake was busy with a group of friends who knew him. Behind him was a couple dancing but after looking carefully, just as Jane had said, she realized it was Erick!

Erick danced round her brother with a lady she knew not. He had this cap on hiding his forehead as he kept his head low.

"Believe me, he will shoot without my order, collaborate and he might survive." Jane now threated as she sat leaning on the table giving out a slight smile now.

"What do you want!" Mae demanded. She couldn't let her brother die.

"Information about your father and your boyfriend." Jane said straightly. "I know you had a good time with him at the motel, I didn't spoil the fun, now don't spoil mine."

Mae almost shook at the thought. She knew that! She was actually blackmailing her in a way. Now she knew the importance of Berick.

"What is it you want to know?" Mae continued asking curiously as she feared what might be asked.

"Is much simple, I just need to know if Bryan has surely lost his memories completely and about your father,,, I want to know everything he does."

"I can't answer any of that.!" Mae denied but Jane just flipped her hand and looked at her un interestingly.

"I just want you to make my work easier, No one would know what you said." Jane convinced her. "Tell me, did Bryan remember anything?" Mae shook her head. She remembered Bryan had told her had remembered the day she was attacked, that meant that he now knew his best friend was an enemy.

"He didn't tell me anything, he doesn't even remember me."

"You are lying.!" Jane almost slammed the table but remembered she was in the Governor's mansion.

"If he really does not remember you, he won't have followed you and intimidated you." Jane said coldly, "What did he recall?"

Mae glanced back at her brother. He was now at the table enjoying a meal with Erick, happily. Her father was immersed in a deep conversation by Harrison and some other business men drinking wine merrily, for her mother, she just waved at her and ignored her.

"Mae, the choice is yours." Jane looked at her as she offered her wine. It was a difficult situation.

At the doorstep a guard dressed informal walked through the crowd. No one bothered to know him as he too did not want any interactions.

'How did they get in?' This guard lamented as he continued his search disguising himself as a waiter.

He noticed Mae after offering wine to the Governor and his friends. 'Got you.' He said as he moved towards the table.

"Excuse me madam, wine or juice?" He appeared out of the crowd almost startling Jane who picked another glass of wine. "Please little miss." He offered Mae juice instead. Mae felt relieved as she recognized the waiter. She too had someone looking after her. She became bolder after realizing this and stood up ready to leave. "I have nothing to share with you."

"Haha haha haha." Jane just laughed

"Have you forgotten your brother?" She reminded her as she looked back and realized Jake was missing.

"Where is he?" Mae felt her adrenaline rush.

"Please be calm, I said I just need a simple answer, oh gosh! Do I have to force you?" Jane said as her tone changed. This was her tone when her blood thirst was aroused.

"Sit and behave!" She commanded her.

"....Roger. ...Suspect has been located roger."

Inspector got the news via the transmitter from Berick.

He had been a detective before for 10 years till he lost the job after failing to solve a crime. He remembered it had involved Bryan's parents. Now he was on a case, involving the same Bryan, he was not going to let this off.

After the Josika village clash, he had scrutinized the area and learned that an internal officer, most likely one whom he shared most crucial info was a traitor, and no one else but Jane knew of his moves. So he did been tracking Jane up to here tonight and it had turned true, she was up to something sinister.

Berick came along to get him past the gate guard.

"Jane is in there, take care of the girl for me, I have to search for Jake, I think he is being kidnapped.!" Berick whispered to Joe as they both separated, each with a mission.

It was already minutes to midnight, some guest were being escorted out by miss Katumo who had no idea that she was the only one safe.

Joe passed her by the hall not even letting her know he was in or even saying hi as he rushed to the dinehall.

He got just in time as he saw Jane in action. Mae was being led out of the room in perfect action. Jane with her hand on Mae's arm walked shoulder to shoulder like drunkards. He could see that Mae had a gun pinned to her waist, forcing her into the act. Not even the guards outside and at the gate were aware of the situation.

"Hello miss, you drunk. Haha." Inspector popped up infront of the two females.

"Joe, stay out of this." Jane instantly warned him ignoring his stupid act.

"You don't have to do this Jane. Surrender and I will lift the trial." Joe answered blocking her path.

"I warned you!" Jane simply said as she stood unflinched. Mae felt the metal press harder causing a swell.

"Ok. I will let go of her, but don't regret making her an orphan." Jane said with a smile as she stood behind Mae. Her father from the top table instantly saw that position, only someone who was defending herself would pull an innocent between danger and herself.

"Governor, please drink more," Harrison shook his arm pulling him back to the seat.

"My daughter," Katumo whispered but Harrison just laughed it off.

"Stop hallucinating."

Instantly the Governor knew Harrison had brought along Jane and his nephew Erick. He had a grudge with Erick.

"Let go of me." Katumo growled at Harrison. The company had long left leaving Harrison and the Governor to continue enjoying the wine.

"It's too late. You can do nothing." Harrison showed his true color as he harrased the Governor.

"We just wanted something from your daughter, but you can tell us by yourself where our money is!"

"To hell with the money! I don't have your money!" Katumo knocked Harrison over as he leaped towards his daughter. All guards now alerted.
