Why me? never going to let them free!

The scream intensified as everyone fought to run out. It was all out of control now, the officer looked at Bryan once before commanding him to remain where he was as he too rushed out to silence the crowd.

"What is going on?" Abi asked. She was frightened, they could only shut themselves inside this ward and wait for everything to calm down. But who knew when?

"Is better we leave!" Bryan suggested. It was clear that the police were now using tear gas outside the centre as everyone in the building was locked in from outside.

"What about mom?" Abi cried as she saw her mother struggle to sit up.

"Save yourself. I will be ok." She spoke with confidence, taking her daughter's hand in hers.

"I can't make it, I know my days are over." The nurse came back at this moment.

"Mother! I love you... I'm not leaving..." Abi cried, not willing to let go of her mother.

"You have to leave now!" The nurse barged in. "Now!' She was serious.

"What has happened?" Bryan still insisted on an update.

"Kolagi is here.!" The nurse ran over to Abi and helped her get the sick mama into the wheelchair.

"Use the back door, through the kitchen!" She pushed on the wheelchair as they got out of the wards and joined the chaos.

They ran opposite everyone, back towards the source of terror.

"The door is at the back of the kitchen...." The nurse who had led them came to a stop.

"Aren't you coming along?" Bryan asked her as Abi opened the door and pushed her mother along. "Bryan! Hurry up!"

There was no gunfire but screams and wails... Plus the mention of Kolagi made Bryan frightened. 'Why should I trust this nurse? She is not escaping with us?'

Bryan was not going to leave the nurse, he heard Abi shouting out to him but he hesitated, someone threatened his life, not once, is this nurse trustable?

"GO! NOW!" The nurse yelled as she pushed him inside the kitchen.

"You have to leave immediately!" The nurse yelled as she pulled out a locket over her head.

"Take this! And leave!" The nurse yelled as a strange man came running towards her.

"Leave!" She pushed him and locked the door.

All that Bryan heard after that was a scream followed by a loud bang as blood seeped over the floor under the door.

'Run!' He could still hear Abi shouting from the back door. "Bryan run!"

He stared at the dark blood flowing towards him, the pendant had dropped down near his feet, and he just looked at this all, not moving.

His phone vibrated in his pocket at this moment. 'Was it grandma?' He pulled out of his stance to receive the call but the door clicked.

'Gosh!'

At this moment he responded to Abi's pleas as he picked up the locket and ran fast then he did towards her.

"Quick!" He caught up with them as they locked the exit.

"Babe!..." Abi cried as they ran again, they were in the parking lot.

All this was terrible, he had seen the man back in the kitchen. The murderer who had slaughtered the nurse was now sure he was the target.

"Abi. Faster!" Bryan now pushed the wheelchair as Abi's mother panted, her state now was deadly.

"STOP!"

A male shouted from behind. "Who is it!" They dared not obey but add more strength to their legs as they ran faster out of the parking lot.

They were being hunted. Just where were the police now?

"I said stop right there or I shoot!" Their pursuer threatened as he shot at a jerrycan ahead of them.

This brought them to a stop.

"I'm a policeman!" The man held out his badge as he hurried towards them, still aiming his weapon at them.

"Turn round slowly... Hand up!" He ordered.

He acted just like a real cop.

"You are Bryan, right?" The police asked.

"Yeah," Bryan replied. He could feel something odd about this policeman. How did he recognize him? He was not a star or something.

"I'm under instructions to arrest you for murder." The policeman said.

"Who did I kill!" Bryan couldn't believe it. He never had ever taken someone's life, now he is being accused.

"No! It is not him. I've been with him all through. I swear he didn't kill anyone!" Abi protested.

"You two better shut up!" The policeman took a step forward. "You killed a nurse while you were escaping."

"What!" Bryan exclaimed. He had still not gotten over the shock of witnessing a murder scene.

"It was not me!" He wanted to describe the murderer but the policeman suddenly grabbed him throwing him on the ground.

"Save your words." He pinned him to the ground as he threatened to shoot if anyone dares make a move.

"All of you get down now!" He shouted back pointing the gun at Abi.

"Lie on the ground now!" He shot at the sky sending Abi into fear as she quickly went down.

"Please, we did nothing wrong. I swear we did nothing." Abi continued to plead but the policeman just laughed nastily.

"Khu khu khu... I said is best for you to remain silent!" He cocked the gun and turned to Bryan.

"Do you have any last words? A confession perhaps?" He was getting cruel, pressing his head hard on the rough ground.

"Aargh." That was all Bryan could mutter as bruises formed on his temples.

"Let him go!" Abi yelled as she flung herself on the man.

It was now obvious this was no policeman but one of the Kolagi.

"You dared! Don't blame me." The policeman intercepted Abi's claws with a swing of his arm as he blocked her body. Both of them fell over to roll on the ground, this gave Bryan the chance to get up quick and hug the man from behind, preventing him from getting to Abi.

"Run now!" Bryan yelled at Abi as he felt his grip slipping off, the man was stronger than him.

"You can't run away this time!" The man sudden hurled Bryan over and picked up his gun to shoot him on the spot.

"Nooo!" Abi yelled as the trigger activated the mechanism and a bullet flew out.

Bryan was late to evade, he saw death beckon him as the blast deafened him.

It was his last moment to live, he knew he won't survive this as he closed his eyes out of fear, fear of death.

*****

Silence prevailed for a fraction of a second. His mental despair clicked taking him out of this reality too, but just for a minute.

'I'm I dead?' He looked at his hands and body. He was whole. Didn't he shoot me? He had no blood stains and no aches.

'Where am I?' He walked into the void. Everything was white, nothing else was here.

'Abi?' He remembered he did been attacked. 'I must be dead.' He knew this was death, maybe the bridge to the next life. He walked forward, his movements were slow as he took precautions before each step.

"Helloo." He shouted as he noticed he did been walking more than a hundred steps yet no change had occurred he was still in the same position. He was trapped in the white void.

"Helloo!" He called out once again. He didn't give up on yelling out for help until he heard the distant cry.

"Was that Abi?" He knew her voice well. He ran forward till the cry got clearer.

"Mother. No no.." The voice was Abi's. Just what had happened?

"Abi?" Bryan called out. He saw no one, not even a thing. 'What has happened?'

'I'm I now a spirit?' He thought as he concluded his story dead.

"Bryan?" A different one called his name softly, near him.

"Did someone call my name?" He asked the whitish void as the voidness shook.

"Bryan!" The person calling him was near his body. It must be a supreme being since each time his name was mentioned, the ground shook and the whitish horizon got patched with dark multi colours.

"Who are you?" Bryan asked this time as he couldn't hold himself up anymore as the earth beneath him shook him down.

"Who are you?" He was now on the quacking ground. He realised this white ground was smooth, the texture just like glass.

"Bryan? Can you hear me?" The mighty voice asked again as now the white space cracked ahead of him letting in a ray of dark cloud to fill the void. He was terrified now.

Abi wept far deep, her voice clearer after the crack had formed. The dark clouds flooded in, floating towards him, they were so heavy.

He had to run away. Nothing was more precious than himself at this moment, saving himself was not a choice.

"Bryan! Stop running!" The voice caught up with him. He couldn't see a person but he felt a hand pull him back, making him trip and fall to the ground.

"Relax." The voice advised as the dark clouds swept over, burying him within as he saw a new world unfold.

He regretted this, he knew he was dead, but why was he still lively? In a way, the female voice calmed him down as the heavy clouds swept past.

'Is this heaven?'

Abi cried all alone. Around her laid three bodies, her mother's, Bryan's and lastly the police. They were all dead. It had happened so suddenly, but late. Their hero arrived late, shooting the bad guy dead instantly but failing to stop the bullet that had long been shot at Bryan. For her mother, she remembered she had stood up at the last minute and saved her from the gangster dressed as a police.

"Hello. I'm Detective Jane." The lady who had played the hero introduced herself.
