Brilliance

"Our time to shine has finally come, huh?" The woman in the mask mumbled.

I just can't believe this. I mean, these lot have strong emotions on having Nosir lead this Kingdom, to the point that they look like they are gonna cry at some point.

"Why?" I mumbled.

"Huh?"

"Why are you guys so passionate about this? About me succeeding the throne that is." I couldn't help but ask that question.

"Revenge. It has to be that, right?" Jerome was the one who answered my question at that point.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well, since you've been cooped inside the library for quite some time now, I feel like you might've read your family history and all. Am I right?" Jerome asked back.

"Well, you would be right about that. What about it tho?" I asked, even though I knew for a fact that he was this close to answering one of the questions that was in my mind ever since reading that book.

"Do you remember the explanation they gave about the former Queen—your mother's death?" He asked.

"The Emperor waged war against another Kingdom and he decided to go to the frontlines and because of the lack of security over at the palace, the enemies managed to make most of the people their hostage and most importantly, they killed the Queen, my mother." I explained.

"Hmm, don't tell me that you don't feel a bit iffy about this weird detailing." Jerome spoke.

"Well, there are quite a bit, right? I mean, first of all, the Emperor who never approached the frontlines before this war decided to move there. And the fact that he never went back to the frontlines after that. Too suspicious even if he gives the lame explanation that he didn't want a similar mishap to happen and stuff. And the fact that the intruders managed to kill the most valuable negotiating piece that being the Queen. I mean, wouldn't that be quite a stupid decision? Like, having the Queen of an entire Kingdom and the most they could think about was to kill her? Like, what the heck?" I decided to pour out all my theories at that point.

"Well, I'm glad to say that all your doubts are on point. The record of your family history was tainted once the Emperor decided to write fake stuff over there. Sure, we were on war against another Kingdom. However, the ones who killed the Queen wasn't them. It was someone posing as them. And it isn't that difficult to figure out who that could be." Jerome replied.

"Yea. The Emperor is kinda trash, isn't he?" I asked.

"He is, yes." Jerome nodded his head as he said that.

I couldn't help but laugh at that point. I mean, this is straight up treason, isn't it? Like, we are discussing how shitty the Emperor is. But with all this, I just realized one thing. "By the way, I get why I wasn't involved in the succession game until now. I mean, it's pretty evident now." I replied.

"Huh?" Jerome looked a bit worried at that point.

"It's because I made a promise with my mother not to get involved in it, right? I decided to adhere to it even after knowing who killed her and stuff." I spoke.

"Did you get your memories back or something?" Jerome asked.

I chuckled. "Nah, it was easy to deduce. I mean, seeing how all of you were elated when I talked about me entering the succession path and all showed me how much you were holding back all this time. And just thinking of it for a moment, it wouldn't have made any sense otherwise." I replied.

"Hmm, it seems like your deduction abilities have improved after the poison. To a scary level that is." Jerome spoke.

"Ah, what are you talking about? This is something that anyone could do." I laughed it off because I don't want him learning that I'm not the real Nosir and stuff.

"So, what are your plans going forward? I mean, how do you plan on achieving the near impossible?" He asked.

"I mean, it's quite simple, isn't it? Amass a huge army that will stay loyal to me throughout and then pull out my secret weapon." I replied.

"Huh, what is the secret weapon then?" He asked.

"Well, it wouldn't be a secret weapon if I revealed it right now, right?" I shrugged. "Anyhow, let's focus on the main task at hand. Amassing a huge loyal army. And for me to do that, I need to show that I can be kind to the people who stays loyal to me while ruthless to the ones that betrays me. I mean, I feel like I've shown the ruthless side by now, so what's left is to show them my kind side. And that's why I want you guys to save Reeve's little sister. Would you be able to do that?" I asked.

"Anything for my lord!" The woman seemed really excited as she said that.

"Great. Get going then. We should change the narrative over there though. Myghell is going to learn about all the deaths anyway, so we'll add one more name to that list." I spoke.

"What do you mean?" Jerome asked.

"We'll release the names of the servants that were killed. And add in Reeve's name as well. And the rescue should happen the moment this news gets to Myghell's ears. This way, we can change the narrative into the little girl killing herself by jumping over a waterfall or something like that because she got so distraught by hearing about her brother's death. I mean, it would be difficult for someone to extract a body then, right? So, Myghell won't suspect anything as well. And even if he did, what can he even do? Send a search party here? That he won't. Send more spies? Well, they would only end up dead. So, he'll be left with no choice but to leave it as it is. A near perfect plan, if I should say." I couldn't help but smile at the sheer brilliance of my own plan.
