"It's all about the timing, huh?" The woman in the mask mumbled.
"Precisely. We'll leak the news around just in time so that you could work it out. So, the question is… Can you pull it off? I mean, I feel like I've been asking this same question for so many times now." I couldn't help but sigh at that point.
"And it's the same answer every time. It's a yes." The woman spoke.
"Great! I hope to see Reeve's little sister here by tomorrow then." I replied upon which my elite squad literally disappeared into thin air. I was astonished by this view for quite some time, before remembering that magic exists in the world and it's quite probable that such things tend to happen quite frequently over here.
"So, what are you going to do now?" Jerome asked.
"I'm going to wait around for now. That's it. I mean, what else am I supposed to do now? Like, I'm not getting any good ideas now. So, maybe I'll just camp in the library and hope to jog my memories or something." I replied.
"Hmm, that's a good idea, I guess. Good luck with that." Jerome gave out a thumbs up before gearing up to leave.
"Where are you going?" I asked, since I was a bit curious.
"Well, do remember that even though I spend the lion's share of my time over here, I'm not your exclusive physician. I have other people to treat, so I'm gonna go over there. I'll let you in if I happen to hear something interesting though. So, bye." Jerome replied before waving me goodbye. And with that, I was left alone and at this point I just felt that the best thing to do would be to go to the library as planned since this room had begun to bore me already with no other humans around.

"Here's your tea, my lord." It was Reeve who brought me my tea.
It seems like everyone in the mansion fears me now; all except Reeve that is, which is why he is the one being sent to tend to my needs. I mean, I don't get it! Why are they afraid of me if they hadn't done anything wrong? I do have the sneaking suspicion that literally everyone around me is a spy. And if that's the case, I'd have to end up killing every single one of them.
Also, it seems like with each passing minute, I'm being more ruthless with my thoughts. I mean, I was quite the sadist in my previous life, but it's not like I enjoyed people's suffering. Well, that's a lie. I did enjoy people's sufferings, but it's not like I wanted to kill them or something. Although maybe that's because I never had the sort of power in my previous life like I do right now, so who knows!
But, if I'm being frank, this is quite dangerous. I mean, I should probably try my best in finding the balance between killing people and caring about the people's welfare. Now that I think about it, spreading the news around that I killed off most of my servants will create quite the negative press among the public. I mean, I feel like Myghell and his underlings will make sure to blemish my name by twisting the truth behind all of this. And if I have to gather the public opinion back to my side, I have to make sure that I implement a big amendment that shakes the freaking core of this kingdom. I guess I'll have to put a lot of thought into it.
Anyhow, there's something else that I've been putting a lot of thought into. It's about the novel this world is set in. For some reason, even after getting all these clues about this world, I have no idea which story this is supposed to be. Although I have an idea as to why that could be the case. It's the perspective, isn't it? Like, imagine this. If the crown prince is the protagonist of this world, then that would mean that I would've seen the story in his perspective. And people love to whitewash their side of the story. And I wouldn't be surprised if the crown prince did the same as well.
Think about it. The main character, who was born out of the "pure love" between the country's prince and a baron's daughter. However, the prince's father couldn't accept the child and decided to marry off his son to the most influential person's daughter. The underdog-like comeuppance of the main character. I mean, the author can easily write the story like that, but the readers were just blind to everything else because we were following the story the way the author wanted us to. So, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if the actual novel is something that I know very well, but I have no idea about.
As much as the crown prince story that I just thought of right now makes sense, I think that the story just might've followed the female lead's perspective on this. I mean, it has to be an otome isekai, right? Like, I've read that thing for all my life and if the one who brought me here decided on shifting genres on me, I could only think of it as a cruel joke and nothing else.
While I was preoccupied with all these thoughts, a small portal opened up right in front of me and a letter popped out of it. As much as I wanted to put my hand inside the portal and see what would happen, I didn't because if that ends up cutting my hand off, it wouldn't be nice. So, I did the right thing and opened up the letter instead. And the content inside it was simple and precise. It wrote about how the rumors have begun to circulate. And it means that the time is ticking for my elite squad right now.
