Apology I

"Are you going to get in the car or what?"

Elma saw from the way he scowled his face that he was in a lot of pain simply for asking her that line even though he had done it not-so-nicely.

"It's alright," Elma said at once. "I don't think Mr. Di Mauro would ask you to get me or that you would accept the challenge, knowing how bitter you despise me for no reason. So, thanks but pretend you didn't see me and just keep on driving. Thank you very much indeed."

With the fakest grin on her face, Elma turned east and started away from him, hoping the bus would happen at that spot just in time.

"Miss Gray!" Reece shouted from his place in the car.

"Go away, please. The bus will be here any moment now," Elma said back, rounding the car to the back.

"Listen," Reece got out of the car angrily and slammed the door hard. He then started toward her. "I am not here of my own will. Got that? Now, get in the bloody damned car and let me do my job."
