Chapter 126 King

~Pov Hephaestus?~ (Third person)

" Impossible, Hephaestus was ugly, so ugly Hera the queen of Olympus threw him out! You on the other hand, you are handsome in every sense of the word!" One of the women loudly proclaimed, refusing to believe the blasphemy leaving the mans mouth.

" Quiet harpy, you dare question the words of a god of Olympus!" Hephaestus screamed, shaking the small piles of mud around them.

" You're no god! Look at you, you're even weaker than us." One of the harpy's said, infuriating Hephaestus.

Hephaestus took light steps towards Athenas grave. The harpy's tried to stop him, but he overwhelmed them with his strength.

Hephaestus stretched out his hand towards the shield that laid on Athenas grave and grabbed it. As he touched the shield, it shone golden green and all five of the harpies turned to stone.

" Still as magnificent as ever my child!" Hephaestus said, before he placed the shield next to him and sat down. He sighted loudly before he said.

" I never did apologize did I? Listen, I know it's to late now. But I'm sorry! If it makes you feel better, I will be living a empty life, voided of any happiness. But, I still need to take revenge! So Athena, I will borrow your spear, if that's okey with you." Hephaestus said to the grave.

He stood up and grabbed the shield next to him. Then with determined steps, he walked to the spear, resting on a stone. The stone had a carving of Athena with her owl. In her hands was the spear and shield. She seemed to be as determined as him, in the carving. Ready to face any odds and lead her family to victory.

Hephaestus grabbed the spear and lightly bowed to the grave, showing his respect. Then he turned around and walked away. Passing the harpies and continuing the path they were going.

" Till we meet once more, my love." Hephaestus said, looking back at Athenas grave. A lone tear fell from his left eye. Reality finally caught up to him. He was alone. Everyone he once cared for, dead.

Hephaestus steps echoed through the piles of mud, surrounding him. Every now and then, another harpy attacked him, but they were quickly taken care of.

" I feel stronger now, then I did fifteen minutes ago! Does that mean I grow stronger every second?" Hephaestus thought out loud, as he snapped the neck of a harpy, that tried her luck.

Hephaestus scratched his head and some white stuff fell down. " This is." Hephaestus said, as he picked it up.

" Does that mean I'm mortal, through and through, for the moment?" He asked out loud, with no one to answer but himself.

Just to make sure, Hephaestus brought his golden spear to his hand and slightly cut it. Making a shallow cut, with red blood flowing out of it.

" Blood, huh. Guess I'm mortal. If that's the case, I need to leave this place! Olympus is full of gods and celestials, even if all the important ones were slaughtered!" He said loud again. Already developing a bad habit of talking to himself.

The small wound on his hand healed after some seconds and Hephaestus sighted in relief. This meant he didn't have to kill himself to heal his wounds.

Hephaestus made a roman formation, with himself only. His spear pointing forward, while he hid behind his shield. Then he started walking forward. The reason he did this, was he felt an ominous feeling, like something was watching him.

The farther he walked, the more he wanted to leave. He saw graves upon graves, of the people he once knew. Because of their powers, they didn't decay and simply laid on the ground. Left in the state they died. Hephaestus frowned at this. Why didn't they take the spoils of war? Weren't they attacking for benefits? Or, did they attack just to kill them. Hephaestus thoughts, created a deep rage within him.

In his anger, lightning and fire raged around him. This brought Hephaestus out of his rage. He was greatly confused by this. Why did he have the power of lightning. That wasn't part of his souls powers. That means that it's the bodies powers. Then who, or what was this body. He contemplated, as he observed the damage caused by his outburst.

" How dare you!" Hephaestus heard, as he touched one of the mud piles. In shock he turned around, only to see a giant bird with a female head.

" A pure blooded Harpy, didn't all of you die, with Hades?" Hephaestus asked, confused by his new predicament.

" Silence, you dare kill my followers! I will tare your body to shreds and feed you to the puddles of styx!" The harpy screamed enraged at Hephaestus claims.

" Calm yourself. I am no enemy, I promise! I do not wish to harm you in any way shape or form! Hephaestus claimed, while raising his hands, to gesture his good will.

" Why should I trust you? Last outsider I saw, tried to kill us all. Some of my followers even got raped by them. Why would you be any different?" The harpy asked, making Hephaestus sight.

" I'm not a outsider. Even if that makes it worse, I mean look at the amount of shit we do to each other! Anyways harpy, how are you alive? You should have died of old age, without sipping of hades infinite life span. Are you a descendant and not an ancient harpy, from the war?"

" I'm a descendant! My mother was too. It's been so long since the war, of course I'm not the first generation of harpies after the war. But there are more harpies out there, than me. But you didn't answer the question, why should I trust you?" The harpy stated.

" Okey, I'll give you a reason to trust me! I'm here to restore everything. Look at this. Is this really the Olympus you've heard of? No it isn't. But together, we can restore everything. No, we will surpass it and reach for the stars together. What do you say?" Hephaestus said, while holding out his hand.

" Olympus was it's people! It's gods, it was the hearth. Where is all of those? The hearth is gone, the people dead and the gods dethroned and dead! Face it, Olympus is gone!" The harpy said. Hephaestus could hear the sorrow as she said those words.

" Don't you want to see Olympus in it's prime? The hearth is gone and the people too. But all gods of Olympus aren't gone. I am still here. The great once sixth dimensional being Hephaestus. True heir of Olympus. Now with my statues and the only survivor, I will sit on the throne of Olympus!" Hephaestus said, getting lightning to strike down next to him and the mud piles ignite in flames.

The harpy didn't look impressed by his show though and said. " The gods of Olympus aren't this weak, grow up and face reality!"

" I grow every second harpy, don't worry. Soon I will reach my prime!"

" Who cares, I got nothing better to do. But my followers won't help you, until I deem you worthy!"

" That's all I need. Mind leading me to the throne hall of Olympus?"

" Why would you want to go there? It's completely ruined and no benefits are left there!"

" Only a true Olympian knows what to look for. Tell me girl, how do you get more people here?"

" I don't know, create them or bring them here, I guess."

" That's right, you bring them here and the only way to do so quickly is through Olympus! Now, bring me to Olympus and we shall restart our conquest!" Hephaestus said as he started running in a random direction.

" Hey you dum ass! Olympus is that way!" The harpy yelled, while pointing towards Olympus. Making Hephaestus smile and run towards it. This made the harpy sight, as she followed him in silence.

White and cold, too rubbles and stone. The ones magnificent white pillars and layers of gold. Now just a pile of sorrow. In remembrance of the past. All creatures kept their distance from the holy grounds. Refusing to sully the home they pride themself with.

A wide path of rubbles leading to an even bigger pile of rubble. But somehow. While everything else had fallen apart, one giant building still stood proud. Even though it had fallen apart slightly.

" It's still standing, even after all this time. Father fo you see, Olympus is still alive, hahaha!" He laughed, ass tears of joy and sorrow drenched his face. The harpy just left him to his own business, leaving to find some survivors to talk to. While he do his stuff.

Hephaestus ascended the stairs of rubble, leading to the hall of the gods. Golden thrones and golden walls and a giant golden table. Everything was like he remembered it. If one ignored the obvious decay. But that could be fixed, with enough time.

" Hagh, home sweet home." Hephaestus said, as his eyes stopped at the throne on the right facing the door.

" Mother." Hephaestus said, as a lonely tear slowly fell to the ground, then he looked at the throne on the left and smiled, a smile of happiness, yet sadness. For he remembered all his times with his father and morned for him. " Father." He said with respect. Unlike when he saw the throne of his mother. It only left him a lump in the throat. He had no pleasant memories of her, nor did he have any happiness of her passing. Only sadness, even in death.

" Uncles and aunts." He said while looking at the left, then the right. " I have come to rule Olympus. If you wish to deny me, say so now. If no one denies me, I will become the new king of Olympus!"

Hephaestus knew he would get no response, but out of his respect for tradition, he still waited. After a minute of waiting he said. " Then it's decided. I Hephaestus, son of Zeus and Hera is the new king of Olympus. Respect and honor to the old leader and glory to the new. May I lead Olympus to a new golden era. Where we stand at the top once more!" He said, as he walked towards the left throne.

Hephaestus looked at the giant throne, bigger then all other. He smiled slightly, but the smile was empty. He only felt remorse, even when he sat down. He couldn't shake of the empty feeling.

Hephaestus stood up from the throne and declared. " The meeting is over and I shall take the wheel from now on. May all your souls rest in peace, knowing I will rule fairly!"

Then Hephaestus walked towards one of the walls. As he got closer a weird blue swirl formed on the wall, in a mirror shape. Hephaestus didn't even think for a second, before stepping through it.

As he did so, he disappeared from Olympus. But a weird mark appeared on his hand. A vague connection to Olympus was on it, like he could return any time he wanted.

~Pov Harpy~ (Third person)

" Huh, where did he go?"

" Who?" A worm asked her.

" A man that called himself Hephaestus. He went to the hall of gods. But I can't feel his presence anymore!"

" Huh, that's weird, maybe he died!" Another being said.

" No, I doubt it. He can't die after all." The harpy said, as she landed on the ground tired of flying.

" Who cares, let's just wait for him to return, or something. If that's the case!" The worm said.

" Yeah, why don't we gather all the harpies and make them start rebuilding the houses. Even if the man who calls himself Hephaestus is a fake. We could still restore Olympus. It's about time after all!"

" That's a good idea, let's do that then!" The harpy said happily, as she took of to the skies again. Only getting some seconds of rest.
