Chapter 183 Nightwater

Ragnar's kobold face inverted from the pressure exerted from the punch. His face plummeted to the wooden floor of the ship and cracked it.

"My, my, what do we have here. You seem special, they'll pay handsomely for something like you!" A human dressed in brown clothes, with a weird fedora on his head.

Ragnar reacted quickly and hurled himself at the enemy. His three claws on each side on his limbs dug into his enemy's hip. The man acted hurt, but the man disappeared from where he stood after a second. Ragnar turned, but it was to late. A fist found his snout and sent him flying. This time the force was to much for the ship and he flew through it and started flipping on the sea surface. Only after hurling for four hundred meters did his speed slow down and he started to sink into the sea.

Ragnar let himself be consumed by the sea and then began swimming back. Only now under the cover of the sea and with a moment of calm did he come back to his senses. He thought of his Nightwater travel and if he could use it in this fight.

When he came back he saw the small tribe being captured. None were left in the small village. Everyone was either imprisoned on the boat, or dragged onto the boat, dead. No profit would be wasted.

Ragnar jumped up on the last ship and ran towards the man in brown. His three claws on his left side slashed at the man, but he failed to hit him and a counter came in response. For the first time he saw the fist coming towards him with enough time to react.

Out of instinct he dodged to the side, as the world turned black. All left in the dark world was the man in brown. Everything had came to an halt, including the man. Confused with the turn of events Ragnar walked up to the man in brown and touched his chin. Then he punched him, burying his claws deep in the browned clothed man in a fedora.

Boom, it sounded and everything returned to normal. The man in a fedora flew towards the end of the ship. He was bleeding heavily from his forehead, where a deep claw mark could be seen.

"How, when?" The man mumbled. But Ragnar was having none of it. He approached the man in a fedora, his face had a cruel smile.

"Tell me, what is your rank?" Ragnar asked and the man turned to him. His hand traced his wound and he said.

"I'm a revered E rank pirate, working under the Dragon-sun pirates. Our leader is C ranked powerhouse, feared in all eight seas!" The man in a fedora proclaimed proudly.

Ragnar closed his eyes and opened them just as quick, no one could tell what he was thinking. Then he appeared next to the pirate, his claws nearing the man's face.

The pirate managed to react in time and stopped Ragnar midway and hurled punches towards him. Ragnar once more led by instincts let darkness consume the world and all of a sudden he appeared one second before he attacked the pirate.

Ragnar froze and stood perfectly still. The pirate watched him with a hesitant eye. Ragnar used one of his claws to cut open his stomach, making it bleed slightly. Then he turned back time a second like before and the wound was gone.

Ragnar's gained an experimental smile on his face and looked at the pirate. The pirate suddenly felt unease and attacked Ragnar.

Ragnar smiled at the pirate and attacked using his claws. The pirate managed to land his fist on Ragnar a couple times, but Ragnar succeeded with what he wanted.

As blood fell from Ragnar all over the floor he managed to touch the pirate's right arm and use Nightwater implode on it. Consuming the whole thing. Ragnar laughed at the pirate, but it turned into a dangerous coughing session instead. As his injuries were life threatening. Ragnar quickly turned back time.

The pirate fell on the floor, grasping the place where his arm once was. Ragnar stood from afar, watching him in horror and excitement. He could injure someone in the future and make them have that injury in the past. A terrifying concept to him.

"What did you do to me?" the pirate asked. The stump, where his arm once were, was bleeding tremendously. Painting the water on the wet wooden floor of the boat red.

"You don't need to know that, old man!" Ragnar said and turned back time even further.

He appeared in the darkness again and this time the system was in front of him.

(The host is to weak to change fate already written in stone. If host wishes to save its family, host needs to grow stronger than Bus-kun!) it told Ragnar.

Ragnar was fuming with rage, why was he stopped? But each second he grew calmer, until he finally realized why. He didn't want to save them, it was his body, which housed a bit of the former owner's will.

Slowly he understood the bus's actions. He took a deep breath and said.

"I understand, please let me out of this place, I need to finish what I started!"

The system didn't say anything, but no words needed to be said. The dark world around him cracked and he was back in front of the one armed pirate.

"I think it's time I finish this!" He said and used his powers to stop time. Once more Ragnar and the pirate was the only people in a completely black world. Ragnar approached the frozen pirate. He watched him with curiosity, everything was so new. He wanted to know everything about these powers. What they meant, how strong it could become.

Ragnar used his three claws on his right side to slice he pirate into four parts. Afterwards he let the black fade away and they were back to reality. The pirate fell down on the floor in four pieces. The pirates around froze on the sight, but Ragnar had no plans to spare them. Using his Nightwater travel he appeared in front of them, one after one. Killing them rather gruesomely. After he was done he released his fellow people and walked towards his parents.

They laid motionless on the wooden floor. Some parts of their body laid around their corpses. Ragnar crouched in front of them and sighed. "I knew this was going to happen. The Main character's parents never survive!" He said aloud, making the writer flinch, even if it had no power over Ragnar's actions anymore.

Ragnar neared the edge of the boat. The island had burnt to a crisp, leaving only the straws inside the water intact. The cave was still whole and the straws could be replaced. The only true losses were his kinsman's lives. He sighed deeply and said.

"I'm going on a journey, if that's okey with you village chief!" Ragnar told a Scalerius standing next to him. Like the pirate before he was E rank. But when the battle started he was ambushed and brought to his knees. Thankfully he was kept alive and can defend this village going forward.

"Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to stop you, would I?" the chief said.

"No you wouldn't!" Ragnar answered and leaped into the water.

The water passed Ragnar skin as he swam as fast as he could. Soon enough the water started to get shallow and shallower, until he finally reached a beach. Ragnar stood up on the sand and stretched his fish like limbs and got comfortable in the morning sun.

"Let my isekai adventure start!" He proclaimed loudly, then bursted out laughing. He walked and walked until her reached a forest.

The forest was relatively empty, with some goblins here and there. He killed them quickly, but started getting irritated.

"System why am I not growing stronger from killing, or at all?" he asked. He was growing frustrated from his lack of growth, despite being the first day. He was a very patient person, when he knew being patient would reward him. But when he didn't know what the future had in store for him he would grow restless and get irritated.

(The host needs to use (The gluttony of Nightwater) to passively grow stronger. If host doesn't, host will be the same forever!) the system told him. He felt at a loss for words at the unrivaled.

"Why didn't you tell me that?" he asked the system.

(Host didn't ask!) was the quick response, before silence once more took over.

Ragnar sighed and turned on his ability. A black dome expanded from him and reached five meters away from him, before it turned invisible. But Ragnar could feel it constantly eating at everything around. It slowly consumed all in its presence, even the ground beneath him. If he wasn't careful and fell asleep with the aura on, he might get trapped underground. The worst part with his ability was the visibility. He was completely blind! With no light entering his dome, he couldn't see the lights reflection, which equaled him being blind. Meaning he would have to start comprehending the world in a different way.

The first idea he had was trying to sense mana, or whatever energy this world has. But he couldn't feel the energy, as the Nightwater consumed that too. So his next and most fruitful choice was trying to feel the light itself. The objects reflections and all they had seen. When he absorbed them, he would try to visualize what they'd seen. Using this he started walking. From time to time he walked into a tree and broke it, but other then that his experiment was going great. He gained a three sixty view and could see the whole world. It was refreshing. But some details came slower then others and it started to confuse him, not to mention his vision was limited to five meters around him.

As Ragnar was walking, he suddenly stopped and ducked, barley avoiding a poisonous dart. Ragnar turned to the direction of the dart and turned of his passive ability, regaining his sight. In front of him was several goblins, with a female hostage. They most likely thought he was an enemy who planned to take their women. But Ragnar felt no need to fight them over a human female, when he was a male Scalerius.

"I no fight, me no friend, no enemy, me walk away, you walk away, no fight!" he worded out to them, speaking their language. The women looked at him confused over what they were saying. Ragnar suddenly froze.

Why would he not want to help her. He's a human from another world, a human! Why does he feel such indifference towards her and the people in his village. Not to mention the human pirates. Its like his personality went through severe changes by coming here. He looked up at the goblins who nodded at Ragnar's words and started to back away slowly. Something they normally wouldn't do, but they could feel the strength difference and chose not to fight if possible.

"Please help me!" the women screamed at Ragnar.

Ragnar looked away and sighed before whispering. "What happened to me?"

A black scaled figure appeared behind the goblins and struck all of them down before they could react. Then it grabbed the women and left. Inside a dark cave they reappeared again.

The women's screams echoed through the cave, but Ragnar couldn't be bothered with her so he sat down six meters away from her and turned on his passive ability. Consuming everything around him, even his own noice. He had to actively make his sound travel out of the dome, if he wanted to talk to someone.

The words "Thank you for saving me." were absorbed into Ragnar and he said.

"No worry, don't come closer if you value your skin, bones, blood and whatnot." he warned her, forcing his voice out of the dome.
