Chapter 199 New Trial

Ragnar felt uneasy from her warning and couldn't just leave like that. Not without answers!

"How exactly will the dimension bite back?" Ragnar asked.

"It will slowly drive you towards ending yourself! Each time you feel a negative emotion, self anger, or hatred, or whatever really. The dimension will strengthen those emotions as time goes by, there's a reason why in all this time no being that reached 100% is alive. Even your father, in a different time, before this one, k!lled himself in the end! There's only one being that can resist the pull towards madness. Kronius, for he is the very thing the infinites didn't want.

"You must leave now, we're not supposed to talk and even if it's entertaining for the infinites, we can't break the rules!" the dimension said and went silent. Changing its infinite attention to something else.

Ragnar left the dimension with more questions that he had before. Does this mean they're just a pet project, by some bored infinity! He quickly devolved into depression and decided not to think about it.

When Ragnar returned he saw everyone getting comfortable in their new home. Ragnar felt all his worries disappear that instant. With a huge smile he walked towards his friends. Here he was safe, where all his friends lived. This was their home, outside the bounds of everything.

"Things really became complicated too fast, sometimes I wish I was still in that illusion on earth" he whispered quietly. While blocking his words from being heard by anyone.

(Pov random person taking Ragnar's trial) {A side story} (Third person)

"Mom, I'm going out for now!" a young human told its mother.

In one of the universes, in the multiverse, there happened to be a colony of humans on a world much too different from earth. In this place humans never really became a dominant species that ruled with their iron fist. Nor were there any sort of contenders like dwarfs.

The human in question was a young boy, no older than twenty. The boy opened a hatch and slowly lifted the heavy hatch made out of a red unknown material. The hatch creaked slightly, when it was moved.

The boy flinched at the sound, now fearful of going out. Nothing good ever came when he made excessive noises. So the boy stopped his foolish attempt and waited some minutes, making sure there was no sound coming from the outside and only then did he try again.

He hastily climbed up and crawled out of the hatch. A red dust dirtied his cloth, as he crawled up on the new ground. He carefully turned to the hatch and slowly lowered it again, closing it. The hatch matched the interior of the place and without carefully observing one wouldn't be able to notice the hatch at all.

The boy brushed some of the red dust over the hatch, covering its small, unassuming openings that revealed it was there. Afterwards the kid quickly left.

He treaded lightly, stealthy making his way through the mysterious, limited environment. He was still inside, just in a cave and not his house. Humans lived in the mountains, so they wouldn't be caught by the predators of the world. Despite that they still had to look out for one predator. A gigantic, hivemind like creature that as the name says lives in a hive. Thousands of gigantic monsters that make their homes inside caves, carving their own tunnels to be able to accumulate their size.

Many of the places humans choose to inhabit were the abandoned homes of the predator. It was safer than the outside and only thanks to these predators had they survived this long.

"There you are, I was thinking you got discovered!" a human voice came from the left of the man. From one of the many tunnels in the labyrinth, known as a cave.

"My hatch creaked when I opened it, so I waited to leave, just to be on the safe side!" the boy answered.

An understanding nod came from his friend, who walked into the open. No longer hidden in the shadows.

"Let's go, she won't wait for long!" the boy said.

"True, she's most likely mad that you delayed us!" as the two were talking death was approaching.

A celestial's true power and the titans true powers laid in the concept of destruction and creation! With a casual flick of their wrist they could destroy a multiverse, or create one. The multiverse these two lived was one of the multiverses suffering such fate and death came to claim its price.

As they started walking towards their friend they came to a stop, the multiverse was being erased and time stopped moving, but that didn't mean it was over yet. An unending light filled the infinite multiverse and forced away the energy of destruction, dispeling its curse. But that wasn't the end, then it forcefully kidnapped all living beings in all universes and worlds, sending them to the trial.

The boy started walking and all of a sudden he fell to the ground. It was like the place he was going to step on just disappeared. His friend wasn't any better. He had been blessed by the ground, just like him!

Around them a mass panic was happening. People were fighting everywhere. There was no end to the crowd. It expanded infinitely into the distance. But the two boys had no way of knowing that, as they currently groaned in pain on the ground and that was enough to keep them occupied for some seconds.

After they regained their cool, they noticed that they weren't alone, far from it. Millions of different creatures were all around them and even more, farther away. Where their eyesight would never reach.

Before even more mass hysteria could spread, a weird creature appeared in front of them. It was visible to all, it was human like, with black hair and black eyes. There was a certain sense of power seeping out from it, reaching the infinite corner of the whole place.

"I am Ragnar. Today I saved every single one of you from certain death and demand but one thing, serve me. But as you are now, you are of no use to me. Therefore a trial will judge your worth and turn you into the perfect warriors!

"There will be a hundred different challenges that you need to clear before you can serve me and you shall do it with great honor, for you will one day fight at the frontline. Of the prestigious Ragthor!

"Do not fear, family, enemy or what not they are all here. As long as they aren't dead in their original world they've been sent here. It is not a privilege to be here, if you were part of the same multiverse, but it is an honor.

"If you wish to know more, the truth, there is but one way to get all answers, clear the trial"

The man said and disappeared. He didn't seem interested to stay and watch the mortals fight for their lives for an unknown amount of time.

After the man known as Ragnar left, silence was all that was left in the place. That is until a domino effect started. One being panicked and it spread like a wave everywhere. More and more creatures went mad and fought one another. As for the two human boys, they stayed on the floor, unwilling to stand up in the middle of the madness that was ensuing.

But the rampage didn't last forever. As everyone started shining uncontrollably and then simply disappeared.

In an unknown darkness there was but one child. Monsters lurked all around the boy, but they didn't attack, not yet. The monsters were passively lurking, waiting to strike. The only thing keeping them away from the child was each other. If they attacked, they would leave themself's open to others of their kind to attack them.

But eventually they grew tired of waiting and attacked. The child could do nothing, as it watched carnage ensue around it. Thousands of monsters feasted on one another, while trying to eat the human child. Even if it wasn't really a child, but the boy from before. Somehow he had ended up getting an unfair challenge and could do nothing but watch as they fought. He couldn't move, or control his limbs, that luxury had been taken from him in this place.

Eventually the monsters stopped fighting and the winner claimed its price, swiftly killing the boy and eating him.

The same situation happened over and over again for days, it never ended and the human felt itself growing mad by each day. But it never gave up. No improvement happened, never. But one day, instead of being in the endless darkness, it was on an island next to the darkness.

Monsters crawled here, just like in the endless darkness. But from the island the boy could see a different kind of world in the distance. It wasn't dark, instead it was an endless cloud of fire, with countless monsters. But that wasn't the man's problem. For right now his priority was surviving on the island where he could move.

He heard a sound from his left and hastily turned to check the noise. What he saw made him freeze. It was a monster, just like those outside. He was scared for one reason, he didn't want to go back to being helpless, so he renewed his resolve and decided. If I'm dying, I'm not going down without a fight.

He attacked the six meters tall, hound like beast, with his fists. His punch literally just bounced off and a second later he had one less hand. The resolve he somehow built up disappeared like that and he backed away slowly.

But the hound wasn't done with him and launched at the man. Its teeth separated his upper body from the lower body, as the man's head and torso was swallowed whole.

He woke up in the darkness again and the cycle continued. For who knows how long he was eaten and defeated. Each time he ended up on an island he would fight for his life once more. His strength grew slightly with each death on those islands. Until one day he was strong enough to start fighting back.

Each monster would have to fight for the food now, unless he was in the endless darkness, for he had no chance of fighting back then! Slowly he learned to fight through trial and error and one day he fought a hound like beast again.

The very same beast he had fought long ago. They fought for many hours until finally the man managed to kill the beast.

(congratulation host for killing lesser hound, a lesser version of chaos monster that lives on the small islands in the outer parts of chaos.)

(Host has gained 50000 exp)

(Host has reached level 20)

(Host has reached the bare minimum of having the system.)

(Host has received the first trial.)

(Defeat 20 lesser hounds and one hound.)

The system sounded in the man's head. He had finally become worthy of challenging the trial.

(Meanwhile)

Ragnar walked through the empty city with Maja next to him. She was happily sightseeing, searching for anything unique.

"Hey, hey, Ragnar, where were you? I was stalking you in the fourth dimension and then, while you were touching the dimension weirdly you suddenly disappeared from my sight. Did you know I was following you, or were you simply doing something suspicious?" Maja asked.

"Hey, I told you to not leave this place, yet you do the opposite and of all things you do, you end up stalking me? Now that's it, no more sightseeing for you, bye!" Ragnar said and used his power over the realm to forcefully trap he rin his realm.
